Ya he can get barreled and do air-reverses and that's great. But the level of competitive surfing is a lot higher than it was for years ago (when this video was made). My friends and I and do air-reverses and lay it on the rail just as hard as clay was when he was in this video and we're only 12-14 yrs. old . the reality is that to make professional surfing in this era you have to be a lot more than a good surfer, you also have to be a good kid, not a punk-ass, snot-nosed child

Oh no, it's not the wave. If your from SoCal, repeat: IT WAS NOT THE WAVE. On the swell of the decade I did 8 of those flying off the lips on one wave 5 in a row then 3, see u next decade SoCal. Most Barneys play it down cuz on small waves it's nothing but when it's bigger then it looks the best. There's a video somewhere of Irons and others doing it on 9 foot faces but that's about the limit it seems cuz of too much speed and centripetal forces, I strained my back once just flying off the lip.
