  • slim charles baby. dont fuck with him. just ask cheese...oh wait

  • I love this scene for the fact that it shows that their are rules to the street/criminal lifestyle, contrary to what the masses believe. And it also shows the worthless, depraved, and foul man the peeson that String is.

  • Funniest scene in all sixty episodes.

  • I had forgotten about this scene. He's another actor that I'd like to see more of. Has there ever been a show w/ more character depth?

  • Imagine having Slim's voice as a ringtone.

  • and the organ playing in the background, Priceless!!!

  • I paused at 0:18 and notice those 2 aren't SITING DOWN, they're STANDING UP!

  • slim got a cool ass voice

  • on a sunday mornin....

  • It's COLORED watch the dvd subtitles.

  • Like a 40 degree day!

  • On a show full of incredible characters, Slim Charles was my favourite.

  • @KaijuHolocaust Me too man

  • I thought coloured lady because she has dignity and is called a coloured lady instead of a black woman.

  • Number one the title of the video is "Colored Lady" but for all of ya'll 21st century folks who forgot about the vernacular of the south he is clearly saying colored lady. A lady who is old enough to live in the era when blacks were refereed to as colored. Hence the reason their mother's would not have been old enough to have lived in that era.

  • @SM87013 cheers

  • LMFAo u motherfuckers think he said Cutter Lady, plz plz make this shit a internet meme.

  • The main word you guys missed was 'bonafide' as the other person said she is both worthy of respect and is respected by all

  • What the hell is a "cutter lady"?

    That doesn't even make sense.

  • It's COLORED LADY. An elder church going lady of the community that is given respect by all, including thugs and gangstas.

  • love slim charles

  • So I hauled out my DVD set of Season 3 and watched this scene with the subtitles on, and the caption is "colored lady."

It's a reference is from the pre-civil rights era, which Omar's grandma would have been around for, when southern Blacks were referred to as 'Colored' (which was viewed as more polite) while northern Blacks were called Negroes.

  • EBON!

  • Are you people braindamaged? He clearly says "COLOURED Lady" - in other words, Omar's grandmother was old enough to have been around in the days when African Americans were referred to as coloured people.

  • he didn't say colored. he said cutter lady.

  • "NO...!"

  • You don't understand why "colored lady" makes sense? I hope you aren't an American, or your history class failed you miserably. An elderly black woman would have been around long enough to have been referred to as "colored" (back when that was common).

My question is... what the hell is a "cutter lady"?

  • @redvenomweb

"coloured lady" doesn't make sense in this context

  • @Photon2552 Sure it does.

    Omar's grandma is old.

Old people have been around long enough to have been called "colored."

Therefore, a "colored lady" is another way of saying an elderly black woman.

I am still waiting for anyone to explain what a "cutter lady" is, or any other alternative explanation of what Slim Charles could have been saying. It's OBVIOUSLY "colored lady."

  • @redvenomweb I agree Slims is saying 'cutter lady'. Colored lady makes no sense in this context because of the reference to Avon's reputation. I recall the term 'the cut' was used in the show to describe the city jail a couple of times, I wonder if there's a connection there. Maybe a reference to the downtown area ?

  • @alstoer1 Avon's reputation is affected (negatively) by 1) his soldiers breaking the Sunday Morning truce and 2) them doing so to shoot at an elderly black woman (i.e. A COLORED LADY) on her way to church.

  • @redvenomweb In the clip Slim asks them if they knew what a Cutter Lady was ? Then he said not your

'Mom's' for sure. He didn't say not your Not Grandma for sure, but ' not your Mom's for sure'. Those guys Mom's would likely not have been elderly. Colored lady simply does not fit in this context. He most likely said 'Cutter Lady'.

  • @alstoer1 I am still waiting for an explanation of what a "cutter lady" is, and why it is more likely than "colored lady" (which Omar's grandma most certainly is). So far, the only attempt that anyone has even made is some lame reference to "the cut" (jail). So please explain why JAILED LADY is a better adjective to describe Omar's old, churchgoing grandmother than ELDERLY BLACK LADY.

    You're hopeless.

  • @redvenomweb Again I point out to you Slim's statement that those guys 'Mom's'

was 'not' a cutter lady for sure. Because if their Mom's were they would not

have pulled that stunt. Their young age tells us its very unlikely either guys 'Mom's'

    was an elderly woman.

Which punches a big fat logical hole in your Colored Lady (as an elderly black woman)

    claim.

  • @alstoer1 So the fact that their moms are too young to be what Slim says they are NOT... punches a hole in my theory? Interesting logic.

Read this again: if these two soldiers were the sons of COLORED LADIES, they would have known better.

    They are not.

    They did not.

    You are wrong.

  • @redvenomweb

If Slim is referring to an Elderly woman, he would have said 'Not your Grandma', Instead he said 'Not your Mom's' to two guys likely not older than 25. Slim has clearly told us that whatever Lady he is referring to is not necessarily elderly.

If 'Colored Lady' is as a reference to an 'Elderly' black woman, then it does not make sense in this context.

The hole in your Theory is still there my friend.

  • @alstoer1 Their grandmothers WOULD HAVE BEEN COLORED LADIES! Their mothers would NOT! You are reinforcing Slim's point!

  • @alstoer1

Well you sure as hell ain't the son of no colored lady either, or you'd know better than that weak-ass bullshit argument about a non-existing phrase. "cutter lady" my ass

  • @PapaPinotte haha. best response ever. "cutter lady." fml. I've seen too much stupidity on the internet. Damn kids.

  • @redvenomweb A cutter lady is one of Cutty's bitches from the gym.

  • @alstoer1 Those guys Mom's would likely not have been elderly. no but in the context of being a good wife . as in a church going woman.hes implying their moms aint that . and prolly aint since they are totally ignorant regardless

  • @redvenomweb I have never commented on Youtube but he says "CUNNING LADY" it's from the church. They would call the women who would go to the church to pray "cunning ladies." Its from Jeremiah 9:17 - Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Consider ye, and call for the mourning women, that they may come; and send for cunning women, that they may come:

  • @redvenomweb DUDE same goes with " repitition " he ment reputation. i think thats wrong but lol

  • @redvenomweb I think it's the baltimore dialect. They drop the d's alot

  • all yall kill is grandmas crown?!

    lmbao

  • @sherriffmonkey He said colored lady. Meaning she was old enough to be around when segregation was very much a factor in the United States. Slim's implying that the two guys are probably sons of teen moms at the time they were born and lacked the history or respect of their elders.

  • LOL!!!!!!!!

  • "BOOLshit!"

  • LOVE this scene.....goes along with the 40 degree day scene that someone else posted. The Wire is a true classic!!!

  • Lmao
