I do believe there is a deeper cause and I actually had a guest on my podcast, Living with Tolle.com, to talk about the need for a deeper spiritual connection for overcoming addiction. Hahaha, I loved the bit about the donuts. I have a facebook compulsion. I have tried over and over not to use it. I've lost count of how many times I've dactivated it. This may sound benign, but it creates a lot of anxiety for me. I see how quickly it clutters the mind, how neurotic it is and yet I can't seem to help myself.

@anulay Your welcome! Awesome that you can laugh at it. Facebook does have that effect on people - so it naturally becomes a powerful spiritual practice if you choose to make it that! Use if to create deeper and deeper awareness and don't forget to laugh!

I liked it; it's a tough subject to describe into words and he made a good attempt. He speaks of transmuting negative energy into it's natural form but doesn't quite describe how to do this. I will refer back to Eckhart's teachings about this. Thank you Greg - you got me thinking! :-)

great explanation! its seems when negative energy arises, people tend to resist and fight it.. whereas if you welcome and acknowledge the pain, and keep your focus on it w/out thinking, judging, interpreting, etc. something amazing happens...
