  • What kind of licenses do you need in UK to hunt with air rifle?

  • @NallekarkkiStudio You don't really need any licence so long as you have a good reason to control the vermin you are shooting (protection of crops, livestock etc) and have the land owners permission. You don't need a licence in the UK for any air rifle under 12ft/lb of power except in Northern Ireland were you need a licence for any air rifle.

  • @HuntersVermin Okay. In finland you need a licence to any airgun too. You also need to do this kind of "Hunters exam" to hunt with any gun.

  • pellet curve much in that wind?

  • I'm just back from doing this with a friend and wee did the same but with a dead crow and we are just home with 5 big crows! :)

  • @MiCHeaL97C Now that was a good day out.

  • What pellets do you use

  • @birdshooter4570 I was using Airarms Field Diabolo .22cal in my BSA super 10.

  • could you kill rabbits with a 12ft/lb?

  • 0:37 bad luck.

  • @coolVideos231196 Cant get them all.

  • why do you not bring your FAC air rifle with you i mean it does help those who don't have an FAC air rifle but it would be more efficient in hunting would it not

  • @taidgh15 True but when i decoy magpies etc i usually shoot them inside 35-40 yards and i don't need a 30ft/lb gun to do that, plus with birds in trees i would rather use a lower powered air rifle anyway so the pellet doesn't fly to far.

  • thats facinating using a bird of prey to attract crows and such but my question is

how does this work ie do you make a few alarm calls or is it purely their instinct to attack their enemys being birds of prey

great vids too mate you have been subbed by me

  • @henshooten I think that it is just the fact that any member of the crow family hate other predators like birds of prey, foxes etc and when they spot them they will mob them to try and chase them away.

  • Does an owl decoy work just as well ?

  • @S410craig Yes it should, any bird of prey decoy should do.

  • Shooting birds in the trees on a windy day is hard!

  • @oakland002 Very much so, i find that i ether don't get the shot off or miss quite a few of them.

  • Was nice to hear a familar accent, where abouts in the country are you from? Im from l'derry

  • @awwfckproductions Hi i am up near Antrim.

  • have you tried the logun penetrator pellets i tend to use them for crows or hunting in high winds aswell as the bisley magnums because of their weight

  • @taidgh15 Yes i did try them and they shot well but i the dealer that had them has stopped stocking them.

  • would a crow work aswell as the falcon? also go for heart and lung i go for heart and lung and they are down straight away its rabbits that i would never do heart and lung

  • @taidgh15 If you set a crow or magpie decoy down near some bait like a dead rabbit that should work.

  • wat pellet do u use please reply asap

  • @TheRandomronny I use an Airarms Field Diabolo pellet in .22cal with my BSA super 10.

  • is it leagel to hunt on birds whit air rifel

  • @MegaMw2dudes Yes it is in the UK so long as you are only shooting birds that are listed as vermin or pest birds in your area on land that you have permission to shoot over.

  • @HuntersVermin i have just got my self a new gun its a falcon fn19 its only a single shot but still its an upgrade from what i had

  • @johnnygunz1000 I used to have one years ago it was my first pcp air rifle and it was a very good rifle.

  • @HuntersVermin its my first pcp to. a had a spring hw77k then a co2 now the falcon fn19.

could i convert it to multishot?

  • @johnnygunz1000 I am not sure, Falcon may do a convertion kit for it best to contact them.

  • @HuntersVermin am thinking of getting a hw100 22 or 177?

  • @johnnygunz1000 Well i have always .22cal as it has more knock down power and good for heart shots, but a .177 does shoot flatter and slightly more accurate but is better for head shots. But both will put game in the bag cleanly with a well placed shot.

  • Ill have to find me one of those birds of prey, and give it a try, finding one will be the trick

  • @mcavlan65 Most gunshops that seal decoys should have them, but try on the web as well.

  • That's cool using a bird of prey as a decoy, but thought that the bird of prey would scare the other birds off. I wanted to know if you had any tricks for starlings

  • @mcavlan65 Members of the crow family will come and mod a bird of prey as they don't like predictors.

  • that was a good idea useing a bird of prey as a decoy , i thought the bird of prey would scare off the other birds . do have an idea for starlings

  • Me and my father got one today.

  • Good video.

I have a question, what kind of air rifle should i get for my son? Itll be his first one.

  • @MrArrowmonkey I,d go for some thing smallish and light for a young shooter like a BSA Lightning or Comet Weihrauch HW99s. But take him along if you can to see what fits him best as he will shoot all the better for it.

  • @MrArrowmonkey

It depends how old your son is. An SMK XS79 (or 78) weighs in at just over 5 1/2 lb, uses co2 cart cylinders and has no recoil. A BSA Lightning weighs in at over a 1 lb heavier, is tricky to cock (being a carbine) for a younger person, and recoils. There are quality issues with these though nowadays.

  • Hey I was thinking of doing abit of hunting do u have any Usefull tips for me

and do u eat what u kill or just dump it somewhere ?

  • @SilentBearClaw I always try and find a use for what i shoot, weather its food for myself or my pets or to use as bait or a decoy on another hunt, and if i have shot a lot of crows or magpies which i don't eat i'l put them into a thick hedge out of the way and the foxes can have them. Get some shooting insurance, practice as much as you can with your air rifle at different ranges and stance, and be polite when asking farmers for shooting permission.

  • Nice shooting man , best on you tube

    Like if you agree

  • @SilentBearClaw Thank you.

  • @SilentBearClaw go check out EdgunUSA hes very very good

  • зачёт +5

  • what rifle for that type of shooting is best 177 0r 22 because im thinking of upgrading my air rifle and thats the sort of hunting i do. by the way good videos

  • @CombatPixie1 I always liked the .22cal as the bigger pellet has more knock down power.

  • @CombatPixie1 hi there 22 has more stopping power packs more of a punch but is not as good as 177 for long distance shots as the 177 has a flat trajectory where as the 22 falls less but both are good. hope this is of some help to you good luck!

  • @CombatPixie1 hi there 22 has more stopping power packs more of a punch but is not as good as 177 for long distance shots as the 177 has a flat trajectory where as the 22 falls less but both are good. hope this is of some help to you good luck! ps pointed pellets are prefered for shooting birds as they get through the feathers easyer.

  • Why not aim for their bodies to make it easier?I know you'll say ''It's a cleaner kill'' but wouldn't shooting in the body tear his insides out? I'm new to air rifle hunting so sorry for my ignorance.

  • @hurlingstar1 Yes a heart and lung shot is another good way of killing vermin with an air rifle, but it doesn't always drop them as cleanly as a head shot. An air gun doesn't do as much damage to small game as say a rim fire does so the shot needs to be well placed. And it is a good question.

  • @HuntersVermin If im hunting rabbit, the heart is directly behind the front shoulder right?

  • @Mightylite94 Yes the heart and lungs should be there one third up from its chest, but i prefer the head shot my self.

  • @HuntersVermin ok thanks. i used to hunt with y dad and his friend with .22lrs and .17hmr when he used to own his farm, but now i just gotta find volunteer work to do for farmers lol.

  • @HuntersVermin Ive actually had worse luck going for head shots. Today I was hunting vermin in my back yard (wood pigeons) and I got (what I thought was a clean headshot) on it from about 10 yards. I shot it just above the eye. The bird fell down and was going crazy. I let it be for about 2 minutes then went to check up on it and it was STILL ALIVE. I could even see its brain coming out. I put a SECOND shot in to it and it finally died 30 seconds later. My rifle is .177 at an advertised 1000 fps

  • @lambchops1493 I have seen that happen a few times over the years when the pellet has just cut a V out of the skull and skinned over the brain, best to aim for just behind the eye so the pellet goes through the brain.

  • @HuntersVermin Yes, that is exactly what happened! I felt so bad for it, but I don't think my gun is accurate enough to aim for such a small area behind the eye.

  • @lambchops1493 Well the other option is the heart and lungs which is a bigger area but i have seen birds fly 20-30 yards before dropping dead sometimes, but the heart is about 1/2 an inch below the top corner of the birds wing.

  • Where did you get the bird of prey decoy from?

  • @whirlywizz Oh goodness, think i got it from a gun shop somewhere, try the net, anywhere that sales crow or pigeon decoys should have them.

  • @HuntersVermin

Ok mate thanks, tried the net and kind find any decent ones, not to worry im sure I'll find one somewhere.

  • @whirlywizz Try uttings .co .uk and decoying. co .uk.

  • @HuntersVermin i live about 20 minutes from there good mailing store

  • what gun do you use??

  • @megasolter In this video i'm using a BSA super 10 mk2 in .22cal with about 14ft/lb of energy, but BSA have stopped making this model and have replaced it with the newer R10.

  • do you eat these kills...? if you don't your wasting life

  • @cambsG Well i eat the pigeons and some of the rabbits that i shoot, the rest i use to feed my cats, but i don't eat the crows and magpies as they are known to feed on anything they find, like road kill and dung heaps. Plus they destroy the nests of song birds and eat the young chicks. So i wouldn't consider them safe to eat.

  • @HuntersVermin i shot a crow awhile ago about 55 to 60 meters away

  • @evanstubbins2010 That was a long shot.

  • @HuntersVermin thanks man i no i coudent beleave it

  • do u only air rifle shoot? im 13 n use shotguns and air rifle but cus im in engalnd im not allowed to shoot my dads 243 :(

  • @lfcmidgeman2 I have a shotgun too but i only take it out once a year to break a few clays at Christmas.

  • I have been out this morning with my decoy little owl and a dead carrion crow.I got into position before first light and ended up with 9 carrion crows and 1 magpie.I did miss a maggie though as he moved just as i squeezed the trigger.I find when they are in a bush or tree and are agitated they sometimes wont sit still where as carrion crows tend to.

  • @JODIMAR45 Great job 9 of them, i think the most magpies i've shot in one sitting is 10 or 11 but 9 crows is some going. The little owl is very good at bring them in but they get so wound up they don't sit still for long, so you did a great job with 9.

  • @HuntersVermin I am quite fortunate really because the small copse where i shoot them from where my hide is is near a field of out door pigs so the corvids are always in the area anyway. The carrion crows do get wound up but they cannot resist landing near my hide to look at my decoy owl and whilst their attention is on it i find it easier to shoot them. Also when a few wood pidgeons land near the hide i leave them alone as they act as confidence boosters for the crows.

  • @JODIMAR45 Very well spotting that great opportunity, and you have the skill and field craft to target the one quarry and leave the rest to act as live decoys.

  • would this work for all birds?

  • @HATTAXX Not really, it mainly just works on birds in the crow family.

  • do you think a Weihrauch HW77 with a decent scope would be good for a occasionall hunter i know they are kinda loud but i could buy a silencer for it (£68)

  • @carnigourousplotting Oh yes, they are a very good rifle with a fixed barrel that makes them very accurate. You could look at the newer HW97 which comes fitted with a silencer.

  • @carnigourousplotting also the weihrauch hw95k comes with one of the best silencers around. very good gun served me well when hunting.

  • @HuntersVermin hi me again doesnt the wind affect ur accuracy at all because it does with me. does it hav anything to do with the weight of ur pellets or is ur gun just better :L i use powa pell and sometimes accupell but for now its powa pell and they are great for me but not so good in the wind.

  • @TheProcock Yes it does very much so, the heavier the pellet the less the wind will blow it off, but your maybe only talking mm's at air gun range (25y). I use Airarms Field but i always take a few test shots at a stick or something to see how much wind i need to allow for as soon as i get into the hide. In this case about 3/4 inch.

  • good shot!

    where do you live?

  • @huntingpro100 I live in Northern Ireland.

  • Hey, love the vids. Any chance you have any second hand rifles for sale? Im on a kinda tight budget but i dont want something that wont give me a clean kill!

  • @ManzEndz Sorry i only have the two air rifles and i don't think i'l sell ether of them, cause as you see they do a very good job. Glad you liked the videos.

  • @ghinhau With vermin its all year round, but i like to give the birds a rest till they get their young out of the nest in the spring.

  • @ghinhau Yes, if you stay hidden and use something as quite as an air rifle, the birds cant spot the danger so keep coming back to see what happened to the bird you've just shot. But they soon wise up after a while and stay out off range.

  • good shooting mate!! its not easy getting tem kills on camera is it !! lol

  • @customtuned You can say that again, the amount of opportunity's that have come and gone before i've got the shot off trying to get the camera on the target first. It would do your head in some times, but when it goes right and you get it on film its great. And thanks for the comment.

  • how much is that gun mate ps im a big fan of ur vids

  • @AIRGUNZ123 Oh goodness i've had it that long i can't remember, i think it was somewhere around £550 when i bought it,. Glad you like the videos.

  • there called hooded crows mate not greybacks

  • @willnever123 Yes thats their proper name, but in Northern Ireland we call them Greyback crows or just Greybacks.

  • nice vid mate,, john

  • @bigjohntightlips Thanks, I watched some of your falconry videos, very nice sport, it's a bit like hunting with a programmable smart bullet.

  • Very good mate.

  • @CastAirLead Thanks, glad you liked it.

  • Great shooting and vid again 5*

  • @TamrynRimfire Thank you yet again.

  • Does this bird of prey decoy technique work with most species of birds such as starlings? and by the way i love your videos!!!

  • @hunterguy28 Not really to the same extent, you might see a starling scolding the decoy sometimes especially if it's near its nest. Glad you liked the videos.

  • nice

  • @gtaak47 Glad you liked it.

  • i have to keep my eyes on you to lear some tips...:)

    all the best

    sercout

  • @sercout Thanks very much Sercout, this old dog has still got some more tricks up his sleeve.

  • truely awesome! great job

  • @pyroman13524 Thank you very much.

  • you are a great hunter m8!! good for you!

  • @pureprotea1 Well I don't know if I'm that good, but thank you very much for such a nice comment.

  • @HuntersVermin No ways buddy, you know wht you are doing alright! thanx ;)
