  • When i'm listening to this i imagine like i'm fighting against something evil and destiny of all world depends on me...

Srsly this video deserves more views.

  • at the beginning it somehow sounds like "rainbow factory". coencidence?

  • @DarkKnight179 Yes. Read the description. Thank you.

  • When i think about racing in cave i think about Komodo Joe boss race.

  • Holy shit, this is EPIC

That brutal beat of deep drums and FREAKING METAL CLASHING ON METAL with short tuba bursts beat my eardrums like fists, and those god-damn ingeniously orchestrated strings with brass harmonies give a very fetching sense of urgency that the choir just shoots all the way home, wrapped up with some unnerving music-box chimes to keep you on edge. Races on this track will be AMAZING

I'd expect to hear this in Gears of War and not from a fan-made game about kart-racing ponies

  • I love how it sounds like Jak and Daxter music.

  • I just realised: There are what sound like claps in the background, but what is clapping? Ponies can't clap, only clop, is it the diamond dogs? That would be creepy, the diamond dogs clapping and chanting like in some ritual.*Shivers in a corner*

  • @waffleless It's a loud rim hit from the gran casa and taiko drums.

  • you could try Audacity and some addons so that maybe it could save te mixing for you..

  • The music is great, but it seems too dark for MLP themed racing.

  • @zhevox, i think thats the point, your underground, and in the diamond dogs caves, that to me alone would be scarey, add the music and let the race begin, to get out of the caves

  • There's a very, very good reason that this thing's like/dislike ratio is so amazing. It's perfect, epic, and amazing.

  • This song is BA

  • Reminds me of Rainbow Factory...

  • @FloMoSho Rainbow Factory wold be more Steampunk-ish.

  • This has a very heavy Gears of War vibe to me.

  • You've just implanted a bomb inside the Rainbow Factory and you need to get out of there, and fast! You plan the perfect getaway through the underground diamond mines on the ground level to loose your pursuers, but time is quickly running out. When the factory explodes, the scorching flames of the rainbow ethers will surge through the tunnels and burn everything in sight. With dead ends abound, no light in sight, and with less than 7 and a half minutes on the clock, will you make it out alive??

  • @DJHyperPonyGBX5 *Camera slowly pans to main character* High level npc mobs on your tail end. *Scripted Gems and various other environmental hazards begin to take place as you dash forward*

  • this track probably sounds EPIC when you're Listening to it in a car either at night, or in a Driving Rain or Snow on the Interstate/Autobahn/kousoku!

  • Sounds kind of like the Gears of War 3 theme.

  • I was about to comment "Wow, this sounds a lot like Makkon.", but then I looked at the user.

    Heh.

  • adding this to my collection of WoWPony music, even though all of them arent meant for WoW

  • awesome track man you shredded it!

  • I'm going to get myself a lot of dislikes here, but... I'm really finding it hard to picture this as a racing theme for a FiM Kart Racing game. It just seems too... serious; too epic (I know that sounds crazy). I like the piece, but I think that I'd rather see something different myself for an actual "Kart" theme.

I actually tried speeding up the track and I think that, aside from messing up the chanting a bit, it gives the song a more infectious beat perfect for a racing game.

  • You got the artifact that the Diamond Dogs were mining up, but it was a trap built by the Ancient Ponies to prevent their powers from being misused. As the cave crumbles, you notice that there's a lot of the Miners who are beaten up along the path that you didn't fight. You bear witness to some kind of spirit or other old, long-dead creatures having their way with them. They then turn on and start after you.

After all, you still have the artifact.

  • WOAH! This is so weird! It sounds like a combination of all these:

The beginning sounds like Rainbow Factory: /watch?v=YRx_iXgLAyw

    Then the Incredibles: /watch?v=SCyBO_SxD2A

    Then Makkon and JeffTheStrider: /watch?v=0PLs7QuwzRc

And samples of this by Makkon again: /watch?v=1fkt4TLMFYE

Listen to them all! Striking resemblance! It's like a giant mash-up!

On another note, I broke the 2000 download mark with someone else. It was at 1999 and now it's at 2001...

  • @makkon06 No problem, though your tracks don't need remastering, just a few in 320kbp/s is all that's needed.

  • Would you have a 320kbp/s version of this insted of the 256kbp/s?

    Thanks

  • @NFUS01 I'll be releasing that when I release my first album (no worries, it'll be a free/pay what you want album) along with remasters of all the tracks. But currently I don't have a 320kbps. It doesn't help that Cubase doesn't save any of my mixing when I open a project :(

    Thanks for your patience!

  • i win all my racing game races first try everytime when i listen to this!

  • BEST RACING MUSIC EVAH!!!

    NOTHING BEATS IT!!!

  • Epic piece of music is EPIC

  • Amazing. Someone could be playing the game and repeatedly crashing into a wall until they explode and still feel epic.

  • I love how David Bowie's Diamond Dogs is related.

  • I need to know the genre of this music. I've been searching for the past three years for this type of music, and now I finally found it. Coincidentally, this song is a good representation of my internal struggle of searching the almost limitless reaches of the internet...

  • @Condre3000 I'm not really sure, I think Movie Soundtrack comes close, but there's a lot of variation from soundtrack to soundtrack. However, I suggest you check out a group called Two Steps From Hell. They have a lot of work very similar to this (and they're about a million times better too).

  • @makkon06 Though I appreciate the a suggestion (and I do like the music). It isn't quite what I am looking for. They are forcing an "EPIC" feeling in their music with loud noises and lots of Celtic singing. I prefer yours better because you tone a lot of that down, keeping a nice fluid tune (I have particular tastes). You have an understanding of music that I find very impressive. I hope to be able to create ear candy tunes such as this someday, as you have renewed my interest in music/art

  • @Condre3000 Soundtracks to movies and video games are what you're looking for. I've been listening to them for years. This particular track reminds me of combat music from The Witcher.

  • @SaberScorpion That is the problem though. I have been looking/searching for music under that genre for the last 4 years, and have come up with only scraps of decent music....

Discovering Makkon and his music seems almost unreal at this point. If I had not given into being a brony, I would likely never have found ANY of this. I love the guy's music so much, I think I might have a "man crush" (no-homo) on him, especially considering how much I've been complimenting him and his work....

  • @Condre3000 Wow. Well, I definitely agree that Makkon is my favorite "brony musician." One thing I like about his work is how it evokes some of my favorite game soundtracks. His pro-quality music is the main thing I'm looking forward to about the PonyKart game.

Game soundtrack composers are an underappreciated lot. If you're ever looking around for more soundtracks, Inon Zur is one of my fav artists. His work on the "Baldur's Gate Throne of Bhaal" and "Crysis" soundtracks is superb.

  • @SaberScorpion Sweet, I'll have to check them out!

  • Or possibly...

With the Mecha Pinkie loose in the city, you must ascend to its head and either shut it down or break it off somehow. While you are doing so, however, it is stomping Manehattan flat and firing painful bursts of confetti at you. You will have to move quickly, for if it notices you getting closer to its head, it'll take a swing at you.

  • Alternatively...

Trapped in Pinkamina's warped mind, your only hope is to make your way to the center of it all and talk her down before her cruel imaginations finish you off and leave you in a catatonic limbo from which there is no awakening. You must fight the other four 'guests' one by one to unlock the path to your friend's muddled mind and mend her broken heart before it's too late.

  • @theguywhoannoysme You're a genius btw

  • @makkon06 Thank ye kindly.

  • @theguywhoannoysme wow... awesome..

  • @SteampunkFridgeRider I know, right?

  • @theguywhoannoysme ...Inception?

  • @Susie369 Inception has absolutely nothing to do with what I wrote.

  • @theguywhoannoysme I would play this O_O

  • The Diamond Dog Mining Co. unearth an ancient relic and it promptly possesses the lot of them, hundreds of hound miners at its bidding. You, the player, are tasked with laying siege to the mineshaft and using whatever means necessary to destroy it. The hounds are forced against you and you must fight your way past them all and find which cavern it is in in order to find some way to destroy it.

All the while, you are attacked relentlessly by demonic dog slaves.

  • Excellent music, as always, Makkon. the FiM fan community is lucky to have talented bronies like yourself.

I had never realized this before seeing your stills from the episode, but the Diamond Dogs' cave really gives me a Minecraft vibe.

  • Damn...This is just plain kick ass.

  • without the chorus this would remind me of music David Bergeaude used to make like the Ratchet and Clank Games.

  • Am I the only one reminded of the Gears Of War 2 soundtrack? Any Gears game really.

  • @TheTenderestMeat Hehe yes.

  • @TheTenderestMeat And now after listening to "Celestia Origins" Battle theme by Makkon, I wonder if he can remake this song but with a more "Steve Jablonsky" style. And yes, it sounds a bit like the Gears of War theme.

  • Sounds great, and actually a little addictive.

  • I'm in love with how epic this track is.

  • Damn, if this is going to be playing in a map, then imagine how long the map is going to be... :D

That is assuming people actually race, and don't just sit there listening to the music. Because I know which one I'm probably going to do in this map. :V

  • Longer than 7 minutes.

    I have a happy.

  • This song...it has something that reminds me of Gears of War. Maybe is the orchestra, or that some parts remind me of the Gears of War theme.

  • Have you ever played Jak 3? Because this song is quite similar to that soundtrack.

  • Around 2:58 I'm hearing a little bit of the mine cart music from Donkey Kong 64... Nice touch lol. =D

  • This actually sounds like music from an epic video game!

  • For some reason it makes me think of ratchet and clank, which is completely awesome! :D

  • <3

  • I wish I had your aptitude in the audible arts.

  • makes me wanna play gears of war

  • You are like, half of my favorite's list now. Keep on being awesome.

  • I'm telling you... if by some horrible happenstance this game never gets finished, these songs are going to make me want it FOR EV ERRRRR. Can't wait to see the other two sketches elucidated like this.

  • dude, this is amazing, why are they always amazing....

  • My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic + Racing: DO IT!

    Friendship is Racing :D

  • Somehow this song reminds me of the Song "Aenigma" from Luca Turilli...

    /watch?v=sS7zY0EN-Hg

  • If Christopher Nolan made a film about MLP Friendship is Magic, this is what the soundtrack would sound like. Damn awesome.

  • me gusta

  • Okay, I'm going to say it now. This is a phenomenon. We're only one season into FiM and we've got over thousands of fanart, fanmusic, and soon fangames! This is starting to become like Touhou in terms of how fast the fandom grows and continues to grow. Note that this isn't an insult, since both franchises are awesome in their own way. Now back to the video... I can totally imagine this being used for a giant mecha boss like you said. Awesome work.

  • Too freaking good...you are incredible.

  • I remember setting up a partial loop so I could listen to the mines segment of that preview work over and over again. Then, later on, I set up a loop so I could listen to Rainbow Factory over and over again.

YOU SIR, HAVE SURPASSED THEM ALL.

Though I have to agree that it doesn't really fit a racing genre, the music in itself is top-notch RPG epic material. A thousand bits to you.

  • Fantastic! It reminds me of Kannon's Klaim and some of the more atmospheric tracks from Diddy Kong Racing and Mario Kart 64.

  • The music is wonderful... however i dont think it fits the genre.. fits more on the RPG side!

  • Good job...I can't wait to play this game, and get amaze by the music!!!

  • Very, very nice!

  • This game will be amazing, if only for the music. Between you, Interrobang, and Therepony, (who, if I'm not mistaken, is NACP/DH) you've got a pretty good group together to cover the whole game; waiting with not-quite-bated breath to see the tracks to match these songs.

  • @RockRockburgh whereponytherepony is "dj derpy hooves", yeah, just the former is a much more... "specific" name

  • Makkon, you are right up there on my list of people I'd go straight to if I won the lottery and wanted to make a video game. You are fantastic, and your work is sensational.

  • Comment removed

  • I love the music you make, it's always a pleasure to see you've made more and to listen to it. Always an instant download!

  • I have an updating playlist of MLP songs that have a suitably epic feel that I play while writing fanfiction. You, sir, are a MAJOR PLAYER in that playlist. :D

  • What do you mean it gets interesting around 2:40! everything before that was just as fantastic!

  • No wonder I liked this so much, it's made my makkon!

  • It's like the Diamond Dogs are either still working or they've enslaved a whole new bunch of ponies to do work.

  • The picture reminds me a bit to some Crash Team Racing concept arts.

  • I wish I could see into your brain.

  • @Overkillius Hacksaw or cat-scan? I'm fine with either, but I'd prefer the cat-scan.

  • @makkon06 aaaaaand... I was not expecting that response. So... what the hell. Cat-scan.

  • @makkon06 I wonder why they call it an hacksaw, it doesent hack at all :3

  • @MrBoegela GTFO

  • @makkon06

I'll use a hacksaw, but it's not just your brain I want.

  • @makkon06 Why do they call it a hacksaw? It doesn’t hack; hacking is what you do with a knife. I don’t get it....

  • @makkon06 Why do they call it a hack saw? It doesn't hack; hacking is what I was doing with the knife. This is a saw. I don't get it.

No, seriosly though, you are so subbed! (subscribes and tries to force his other friend to hear song-he is being converted. Likes the show and alot of the brony made songs-)

  • @Overkillius I wouldn't if I were you, it would blind you with awesomeness :P

  • great RPG session track. .. instant FAV

  • As much as I love this song, this sounds like it would fit a fighting game much better. Against Pinkamena, of course.

  • Glorious. I wonder what it would sound like 20% faster though...

  • I was just about to say, I thought this sounded just like 'Rainbow Factory'. Then I read the description.

    DESCRIPTION READING FTW.

    This is great, btw.

  • @HyperFlame1 I was listening to this on his channel then came here to say the same thing. I then saw your comment and read the description and was like "Oh."

  • You're still one of the best musicians I know. :D

  • yay, new video \o/

    you're the bestest!

  • I'm not sure how a boss battle would fit into a kart game, but this kinda sounds more like a battle theme to me. I'm not saying it isn't awesome, though! It just might not suit the "racing" theme, is all I'm saying.

That xylophone work gave me a few chills, though, like I was playing Psychonauts or something. ^^

  • @SNIPERGUY9294 The game "diddy kong racing" did boss battles great.

  • @guitarskills2 Oh man, I remember playing that game when I was really young...sadly, I can't remember any boss fights, although there were a couple of neat non-racing games within it. I'll make sure to look it up. :)

  • needs to sound a little more like a mine and it needs to be faster. But still your music is always awesome!!! :D your awesome!

  • I'm generally not good with words. Thankfully, YouTube has buttons and a green bar to speak for me.

  • I think this suits Pinkamina well. It's like your trying to survive her games as well as defeat her to get her to return to Pinkie Pie. More like Pinkamina's possessed by another, forcing her into the limelight.

  • You sit down. You create magic.

  • This

    is

    fucking

    great

  • unbeknownst to makkon, he has been setting the mood at my DnD tables making the game ridiculously epic. if only the party knew...

  • @FlCl3000 I wish my DM liked ponies :P

  • @FlCl3000 I literally came browsing through makkon's stuff specifically looking for music for the campaign I'm starting.

  • Fucking epic.

  • FIRST!

Seriously, an amazing tune dude. The Chorus adds that right flavour of intense emotion. Correct me if I'm wrong; but, this is your first track with a Chorus, right? Also, that piece with the xylophone, eerily beautiful.

    Always a great job.

  • I LOVE YOU MAKKON!

ITS LIKE YOU KNEW I WANTED THIS SONG THE MOST!

  • Were's my download link?

  • @TheEzRein just now uploaded it

  • Awesome, as expected. Keep up the good work.

  • You're now officially my favorite guy on youtube. xD

Splendid work, it sounds far better than the draft version you posted before.

  • Oh hell yes. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Are you shooting to be the next Thomas Bergersen? If so, you're on the very, very right track.

  • :D

  • Amazing as usual.
