  • when your were practicing, you might of landed the flare if you tried to swipe your right leg in to land the flare. thats how i landed my first flare

  • @Souasta August 23rd, 2008 is the first day I started break dancing.August 23rd, 2008 is the first day I started working on flares. Therefore, flare was the first move I ever learned. The move FLARE sparked my entire break dancing career. That move was ALL I COULD THINK ABOUT in hi school. It all started with me watching SuperCrew on America's Best Dance Crew.1 guy was doing flares and I thought it was really cool so i practiced. I am known as Michael Flare bc the FLARE literally change my life

  • people tell me to start from toprock too but when i'm drilling flares i don't even bother trying to get momentum,

    starting from his position(gymnastics start) lets you think what you need to focus on to get it correctly and gives you better/form/more control of what you're doing

  • @FareFrozen when I practice I only focus on the move I do. Toprocking just wastes my energy. The energy i use to toprock could be used to practice more flares.

  • I'm really worry but my backpack was stolen at school about 3 weeks ago, and my camera was in there so I can't record anything rite now. But I will upload the LATEST flare video I have. btw, I can only get 3 flares till this day and I am STILL practicing flares EVERY SINGLE DAY. So I'm gonna post the video rite now, check it asap.

  • well, that's good progress. but practice on hard floor for one(better grip with EVERYTHING) and like a lot of other bboys would say, practice with shoes. I know its minor things but small things can make a difference, and it also helps to start with some momentum, by doing a simple left to right top rock, or the usual beginning of a flare =P but keep on it, lookin good! ALSO! Sweep your left leg more and stretch so you can straighten your legs out like the guy in the end. lean back while kicking

  • All say "practice" with shoes because if u dont, u will get lots of trouble when u make moves WITH shoes :P cause u're used to less weight on ur feet u know? :)

  • correct :D i just hit my crickets and i have fast flowing windmills and i have been on and off with my flares for about a year now i just need to determined to get them which i know am focusing on from tomorrow at dance class :D

  • yo you could of gotten flare at that time if your form was correct. You got to start while standing up or when you in transitioning from a fast momentum move. When you stand up you can gain more momentum which makes the swing and everything a lot easier. I got the flare down in 3 1/2 weeks.

  • not trying to flame or anything but if your form was correct and you put swung that leg out wider you'd prob have 2 by now compared to a whole month and some change with one sloppy almost whole flare.

  • lol u shouldnt start by putting ur arms down it puts pressure on ur arms and i noticed u dont swing ur hips and since u hav to much pressure on ur arm you dont have tat much momentum ur basically using force to try to swing ur leg. if u c the guy in ur vid he puts his hand down rite when his leg is bout to swing tat makes his body lighter cause it has less pressure so yea just tryin to help ^^

  • can someone plese help me i have been practicin flares for bout 4 weeks now and i can only do a half rotation everytime i see the v shape in front of my legs i end up fallin down and my rotation never goes fully around anybody know what the problem is

  • i dont know how you do yours, but if your momentum is crappy that may be why you stop half way.

    Also, after you get to the V part, pop your hip to bring it around

    and one thing i noticed about mine was i kept looking at the floor, so my head was offsetting my weight

  • prolly ure placing your hand far away from your legs you hand placement should be infront of you almost in the middle of your legs and fast hand placement is really important

    tell the coach to lend you a mushroom

    learn circles..

    it takes 1 month or 2 month to get 5+ circles...

    then learn Thomas..

    Circles are the basics for Thomas.

  • I am NOT part of LMC at all. The members of LMC have a new dance performance that they are performing for a huge event in May. The leader asked about 5 other ppl to perform with them in the event. I am one of the OTHER ppl. Most of the performers in this NEW DANCE is from LMC. However, that does not mean that everyone performing for the NEW DANCE is LMC neither is the dance performed by LMC. It is basically performed by a group of people.

  • Yeah i just got scars where my knee would have scraped the ground if I didn't wear that padding. But I'm a lot different now cuz i practice everyday. My knees RARELY scrape the ground now; back then, it was really often. I don't even wear the sock anymore cuz i never scrape my foot now.

  • that looks so painful. did you hurt your leg in the process? I wanted to break dance, but I think I am going to get maimed for sure in the process. and my house has no carpet.

  • Carpet is actually bad for breakdancing. =P It usually gives you huge friction that slows down your movements. It also makes it harder to hold freezes. Tile/Wood is best. Or a breakdancing mat, but those are expensive.

  • lol. It's my practice clothes. When I'm done practicing for the day, i take the pads & shorts off and use it again during practice for the next day. The socks is always different.

  • Right now i am able to do 2 flares. The second one is very ugly but my legs finishes the 2nd flare completely 1 turn b4 my leg touches the floor. I go this about 6 months of practicing from day 1 by practicing every day after school.

  • wth? There's no way i couldve gotten a flare in one night. I wouldn't lie anyways. Why would i change my clothes alot in the same day like that? The first coupple days has a charger plugged into the pillar wall. The second half has no charger. I usually charge those batteries fully for a day.
