  • the voice of Dr. Jerome Melvin sounds like Bill Clinton

  • we have 5 of theese

  • Teachers and principles do not have authority outside of school grounds. They are not police. They are not courts. They are not judges. They are not dictators. These kids have had their rights violated. Where's the ACLU at?

  • is it just me, or does the dad's goatee look like it was drawn on with a sharpie marker?

  • @TheDuneMan92 If he quit his job and undertook that course of action he'd never work as a teacher again. This is not a level playing field we are talking about here.

  • Thats why teachers are ridiculous.

  • @RSminiclips All teachers? You sound really educated and thoughtful. You probably don't realize I am being sarcastic. I guess if you can say all teachers are ridiculous, you missed out on the good ones...and they do exist.

  • @kidsnetsoft

I didn't even reply to you? And it was more of an in general thought, I have had more teachers that don't like there job and complain non stop then good ones. And you have no right to sarcastically call me educated, when you don't even know me. Theres no way you could think I'm uneducated from one statement.

  • @RSminiclips You are right, I was being unreasonable. As a teacher, I get fed up with the generalizations about what we do. Many people are clueless about the nature of our job. It is tough, but it can be very rewarding too.

  • @kidsnetsoft

Okay, well you're obviously an older person because I have never run into anyone online that actually admits they are wrong. I'm 15. Anyways, glad to see you understand what I mean't.

  • @RSminiclips If I would have known you were 15, I wouldn't have been so harsh. I thought you were much older. See what happens when people assume. Take care!

  • This just shows how Americas school system is fucking screwed. US kids need to start being put in uniforms, like the rest of the world. Thats at least a small step towards the rebelion against the educational system that has been taking place for decades. Uniforms only suck when 1 person needs to wear it. If its everybody, its not as bad. But yea.. its america, a parent may sue and blah blah blah lol.

  • this is why I hate todays students, they can be fine as people but they're so damn rude to the school, Imagine if someone made a page saying the same thing to the student damn right they would get in trouble honestly detention seems like they got away with it

  • All superiors/authorities should be equipped with a taser/stungun, a license to prescribe and medicate 'disobedient' individuals, diplomatic immunity and the ability to create "New laws" as needed. All this individualism, freedom and "due process" non-sense: just gets in the way of 'real productivity.'

What where we working toward again?

  • watched a 15 second advert for a 15 second story. booo! how non ap!

  • I suppose Rate My Professor will be removed from the internet shortly.

  • I wish I my seventh grade English teacher and science teacher had these kind of facebook pages, I would totally join them!

  • Freedom of speech should come with respect and responsibility. Bashing other human beings is irresponsible, unless it is someone like Osama Bin Laden. What kids do online does carry over into the classroom. Kids are getting out of control. Everything is becoming way too public. That teacher's reputation becomes at stake when they put it online. No due process is being carried out on this one. Teachers are becoming powerless and we wonder why we're falling behind other countries

  • @kidsnetsoft: Cry me a river homeslice. Freedom of speech means just that. If you start saying you can say anything but its gotta be respecful guess what? Not freedom of speech. If you say you've gotta be responsible, it's not freedom of speech. Plus why assume the students are inconsiderate lil turds on this? It's a large school in NYC and he's the ONLY teacher with a page dedicated to bashing him, does that raise a red flag to anyone else?`

  • @Biswalt I seriously doubt you have ever taught and I bet you wouldn't last a day in a inner city school. You sound a bit naive about schools. I know there are bad teachers. However, I also know that students don't always think right and they don't always make the most sound decisions. I know I didn't make the best choice when I was younger. Give me a break on cry me a river. You obviously missed my point.

  • People are retarded, If you go to a school and you insult a teacher in or outside of the school expect to get detentions. Although this is the American public education system >.> Can't exactly expect a lot.

  • I don't think they should use Facebook because of their ages, but they should not get in trouble for free speech.

  • Imagine a School super intendent, administrating punishment. How stunning, this guy

  • It was Ms. Desimone

  • I went to that school, I wonder who the teacher was.

  • I can't believe some of these comments, especially from parents. Bullying someone is never okay. I'd much rather have detention then be publicly humiliated and bullied. Has no one heard of the young girl who killed herself because of the things kids were doing to her, things just like this? Wake up people, and stop defending what these kids did!

  • Its just that our school district (this one) is the worst school district you can go to (:

  • Wish I could see that page. That teacher has no authority to punish the visitors there. Maybe if she wasn't a pain in the ass like most teachers, there wouldn't be such problems

  • well, theres a person with poor parenting skills.

  • @MissHorrorDoll you know this is really like an ad for home schooling. Maybe these people do have a point though. Maybe he webpage should be kept up, and the school should not punish these juveniles. Instead this teacher should bring these kids to a court of law,and sue them. Then there parents would be crying "Why didn't the princible do something. We should have just got suspensions for these actions." Thanks to people like this everyday we're 1 step closer to speaking Chinesse.

  • All is true, they did get their freedom of speach and the super attendant punished them in his domain. To that father, yes the school super attendant does have that right.

  • it doesnt matter if its his "domain" the school has no right to punish them for something that took place out of school if i went to that school i would have told the principal to suck a dick bitch

  • Parents should be angry about school for the fact they punish kids at all! it isn't there place to punish. This system of detentions and punishments is completely wrong.

They think they can hold my kid after school hours just on there whim.

If they think some thing wrong was done call the parent, it's his job to educate the kid, not the schools job. its the parent's job to decide how he wants his kid to be educated.

  • @tnb35 This is the problem with the post Baby Boom parents. The "Oh not my little angel!" syndrome. Those parents should just be ashamed that their children behaved as they did and respect the decisions of the school disiplinarian. It's no wonder why public schools are shit and are overall a waste of the taxpayers dollars. It's retards like that dad, that I gladly pay for my children and grand childen to be tought by Brothers and nuns, and I am a freakin Pagan.

  • well i didn't grew up under your wonderful american education system. were i come from schools respected the fact that it was the parents kids, not the schools kid. and if i did something wrong the school called my parents and told them what i did, living the decision of how to discipline me to my parents. school is there to teach math history and things like that. in my grandfathers days schools teachers used to hit kids with a stick... why wont we return that?

  • @tnb35 Yes, well maybe you might want to look into stories like the Phoebe Prince tragedy. The problem is parents now don't do nothing at all when they hear there little angels have done wrong. That princible knows the shit he is dealing with. He wishes he could call the parents as you suggest. Suspension is such a slap on the wrist, the people are true pancies for complaining, I hope the princible learns from his overbearing kindness and next time goes for fines.

  • webring40 if the school doesn't like the way the parents discipline the kids, and if the parents think what the kids did was OK then the school can always tell the parents to find another school to their kid.

a school doesn't have to teach kids who do not follow the rules, but a parent can't be forced by a school to raze his child in a way he doesn't believe in.

schools screw up so many kids, its time to understand it not their place to raze a child.

  • @tnb35 honestly that sounds like a bigger punishment, and maybe overboard, but then again, I don't know how far they went on that page.

  • @tnb35 I agree with you, it was a personal attack, defamation of character, the school shouldn't of given after hours detention, they should of filed legal action against all the children's parents then maybe when they all get big fines they might start caring about what their kids are doing

  • This is so fucking stupid! First off none of these kids even wrote this all they did was click a button in the comfort of their own home. Second, This happened OFF of school property, OUTSIDE of school hours. They have NO right to do this what so ever. If they are allowed to do this then kids should be allowed to be punished for things they did to other students outside of school. That seem fair? Especially when schools push this whole "we can only punish if it happened on school property" crap

  • We can't post jack shit on facebook anymore, can we?

  • Whatever happed to freedom of speech!? There were no threats of violence or ethic slurs on this site! Unless I was drunk, I thought I heard the Soviet National Anthem while watching this video. Schools suck! They're basically prisons today, and the students are the inmates.

  • Fuck teachers. They think they can do anything they want to students, they might be teachers in school, but out side, they're just targets.

  • Roxboro is a hole. That whole district is a hole. No one is questioning what the teacher may have done to upset these kids. I love how that works.

Fuck Roxboro, Fuck Dr Melvin, how is that for free speech?

I'm almost 24 and it still bothers me today how I was treated by the mingers that made up the faculty.

I still remember when Dr. Melvin became the super, we had to draw welcome cards for him in kindergarten. Ick.

  • Freedom of speech.

  • Comment removed

  • good...

...kids, today, are ridiculously stupid, and cynical (thanks bad parents). Besides, how can this guy take parenting seriously when he has facial hair like such???????????

  • @treid100182 Troll

  • @treid100182

haha, another person judging on how people are by their looks..

hey, thats freedom of speech too..

  • you think facial hair matters with respect to being a good parent....

that makes no sense. surely there are lots of clean shaven men that are shitty parents...

whether or not you think kids are "stupid", why do you think that the school has the right to punish them for something pretty harmless done outside of school

  • There are many pages on facebook like that, you can not punish everyone.

  • Could have been worse. At least the kids were venting their frustrations on the net as opposed to, say... Slashing his tires, egging his house, shaving his cat, etc, etc. I think this is seriously blown WAY out of proportion. I'm not defending the kids either. I'm just saying people are way too sensitive and insecure anymore and need to calm the hell down. Kids are angry and frustrated by nature. But how much of a bitch does this principle look like? "These kids were calling me names. Boo hoo."

  • freedom of speech?

    They werent threatening someone

  • That Dad's an idiot and his soul patch looks fucking stupid.

  • And on a side note this is in my school district so I get to see all the news coverage about it. One of the parents just told the news something along the lines of "I don't know if she read it or not, she probably just clicked on it cause her friend's faces were on it"

So he's outraged his kid was punished for something he never bothered to discuss with her...makes sense.

  • @javaman

I don't think its really about what kids are exposed to so much as what kids are allowed to get away with now.

If the page was about another student there would be an uproar in the other direction.

I was raised during a time where we needed to respect eachother a little more than that and even *gasp* be responsible for our own actions.

I hope the kids did learn something, but seeing as the parents are taking the "oh not my baby" route, probably not.

  • Yes dad - your daughter performed a stupid action, and now must pay the price - Now *that* is good education!

  • is it me or doesnt that guy look like the guy from deal or no deal?

  • The audacity of the father to say that he doesn't believe that it has anything to do with school and that he's actually mad that the superintendent did his job is ridiculous. I don't understand how he could consider that behavior acceptable. The things that kids are allowed to get away with now is disgusting. What happened to respecting your elders? The punishment was quite lenient, they should have gotten a bit more than an hour after school to sit and think about it

  • @strvinmarv Oh... these kids these days with the intertubes and everything - the world is going to hell in a handbasket (whatever the hell that is?).

Relax a little - looks like a lesson was taught and learned.

Kids today have their own problems to deal with. The world is changing faster than they can learn about it so we need to help them. Don't know your age, but I was raised in a time when things were stable, and much easier to understand. It was still hard as hell!

  • welcome to nwo

  • This should be taken care of in civil court, not detention. This is an infrigement of freedom of speech outside of school property. The negative facebook page is wrong, but it was done outside of school. If pursued, the students father would definitely win in Supreme Court.

  • Published...? As far as I know, the internet has some rules, but at a point, it is a persons own discretion to read and believe what is written, especially on a social network site.

As far as I know as well, isn't it better that they didn't petition the teacher directly out with the entire student body?

Online Protesting is becoming illegal, doesn't that fall under UNCONSTITUTIONAL?

    Yep, would say so.

  • Why are these parent defending there kids actions. Trying to publicly humiliate someone is not a good way to solve a dispute. I find making a negative face book page not to be so much an act of free speech, but of cowardice. This was an act of vengeance, not a problem solving tool.

  • what if what they said about the teacher is true?

  • Could be true, I just have issue with the manner of expression. THX

  • For better or worse, cowardly speech counts as speech, so it must be protected. Luckily, we are also free to publicly censure such actions. Isn't freedom a wonderful thing?

  • good point!

  • wow

  • It didn't say the girl in this story created the page, she only became a FAN of the page. Are you people learning disabled? She got detention, someone else was suspended, I would guess they made the Facebook page.

  • Spare the rod... spoil the child.

  • Aww poor babies... /sarcasm If you want free speech you have to deal with the consequences that come with it.

  • well the guy shouldn't act like a fuckhead to the kids...for them to put it up in the first place...what they teach you in kindergarten...sticks and stones may break my bones...but names will never hurt me...fucken baby..

  • Today's Lesson: Don't criticize authority kiddos...

  • fuckyou i'm makin a you tube page w/yourname on it LOL

  • This is total bullshit. CONGRESS SHALL MAKE NO LAW ABRIDGING THE FREEDOM OF SPEECH! Get it through your thick skulls, people!

This had nothing to do with the school, and existed outside those bounds. If I were the kid's parent, I wouldn't have even had her take the page down. I would have said keep it up, and post some more shit about the guy. Fucking cowards.

  • what happen to free speech. discipline of any members is like being in china, got to be within the LAW. sue the fucker.... he broke the law.

  • those kids are highly stupid... at least they couldve created a fake name... LOL LOL LOL

  • Libellous? Ever heard a thing called freedom of speech?

  • That's not cool on the school's part. The student should be able to criticize anyone.

  • The dad looked like a douche!!! hey parents keep an eye on what your children are doing on the internet!!!!!!!!!!!!! today she made a page about a teacher tomorrow could be worse..... JEEEEEEZ

  • It didn't say she created the page, she only became a FAN of the page.

  • Ha! Ha! Ha! This is TOO funny!! Quit writing trash on the internet - and quit slandering people!

  • well said

  • Someday internet things like this will start hitting the supreme court.

  • Teacher is a Coward

i would love to know the teachers name

  • If the students have the freedom to make facebook pages to bash this man then why doesn't he have the right to not have a facebook page be created to bash him? You idiots who are politicizing this have no sense! What if teachers resorted to calling out their worst students (i.e. your kid dear reader) this way? You who think that this is a freedom of speech issue would be very quick to his the teacher' freedom of expression curtailed!

  • @rksu747: No actually I wouldn't I think it would be great if we lived in a world where assholes got called out regardless of how old they are. Come on, you've got a gripe you can air it that's the great thing about being in America. You wanna censor people move to Iran.

The bottomline is that you're giving kids detention for something that is totally outside of the school. And furthermore even if it was inside the school are you saying kids can't complain about teachers?!? WTF sense is dat

  • @rksu747 Uh, because that's exactly the opposite of freedom of speech. He COULD make facebook pages bashing his students, that's totally legal. He just can't expect not to get fired because of it. The students arn't working for the teacher, it's the other way around.

  • @rksu747 The difference between the the two is age. The adult should know better becasue he can get fired. While in the world of a kid, school rumors are not illegal, and freedom of speech is what needs to be addressed not everyones feelings.

  • didnt happen in school though

  • I sure hope each and every parent individually sues the school. The page itself may have been liable but unless it can be proven that the student created the page using school equipment/or on school premises, the school has no authority over a student. There is also the matter of punishing a student for becoming a fan of the page, since when does a school get to decide what a student may like or not like.

  • Comment removed

  • is not the schools teaching in moral relativism?? Whatever is good for you may be not good to other? don't we teach not to judge people? AND THAT THERE IS NOT ABSOLUTS? HARE WE HAVE THE CONCEQUENCE OF OUR TEACHING ON A FOUR GENERATION, HER FATHER NOT ONLY JUSTIFIES HER ACTION BUT ALSO DEFEND IT AND BLAME THE TEACHER!

  • Well there goes freadom of speach SHEEPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

KEEP VOTING DEMOCRAT OR REPULICAN AND THIS IS WHAT YOU WILL GET. A DICTATORSHIP WITHOUT FREEDOM OF SPEECH. WHAT A SHAME.

    peace

  • This is ridiculous! The parents may be legally accountable if there was Slander or defamation of character. 1st amendement is not subject to a principals

interpretation or jurisdiction outside of school (extra curricular activity aside).

The Principal must be a Dimocrat!

  • yawn

  • Fuck the Police.

  • what? lol

  • what? lol

  • you're really funny 8)

  • Yeah I know, it's a talent and a skill. A blessin, and developed. A gift, and a curse. A sort of law of opposites bipolarized partisan duality predator-prey triangular transdimensional third way artcure solution.

  • My thoughts exactly

  • Yeah you can go ahead and copy and paste my words for you own record, I knew you would.

Intellectual Property Rights, protect that with Capitalist illusion of meritocracy pseudo-original thought gunfire.

  • Little punks should be grateful a teacher who is paid meager wages is taking the time to educate them.

  • Making fun of school shootings is funny?

  • Shut up ass wipe

  • make me?

  • Not tonight, Honey

    I have a headache

  • The teach should have fanned the page about himself...lol

  • You know what is so funny. If something bad happens to your kid during non-school hours, they're not responsible, but you can't even do what you want on your own free time without the school stepping in if it's against them. Every kid has a teacher they hate. If they want to express it outside of school, that's their own right. I'm not saying what the kids done was good, but the school has no right to punish them. Punishment should've been left to the parents. America sucks.

  • I sure hope it wasn't a civics teacher. That would be irony at its greatest.

  • muy school did something like that to agirl who had modeling photos on her myspece profile a few yrs ago

  • the teacher is obviously a prick

i remember middle school and high school and most o them were pricks- how about going after some of those teachers screwing and smoking pot with students ?

  • Lame.

  • wow. the teachers talk about how great our rights are then they do this. FUCK SCHOOL damn commie bitches

  • What kinda freedom of speech is that

  • who is to blame?

  • Global Warming!

  • That dumbass teacher should fuckig burn in hell ill make a page right now about this faggot punishing students for something as little as that. He is wrong in every way possible and shit like this makes me soooo pissed

  • Well that's a great violation of freedom of Speech. Cheers!

  • Facebook didn't punish the students, the teachers did. So unless the teacher owns Facebook I suggest you Shut the fuck up.

  • But facebook can take down your "speech" if they fucking feel like it. Dumb ass.

YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO SAY ANYTHING INSIDE MY HOUSE DO YOU?

YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO SAY ANYTHING ONE SOMEONES SITE.

    that's the mother fucking point.

  • I'm talking about the teachers, NOT FACEBOOK GET THAT THROUGH YOUR DUMB ASS SKULL, punishing students for what they said on the internet. I don't know what the fuck you're talking about it has nothing to do with what I was saying.

  • I'm talking about free speech.

YOU HAVE NONE ON THE INTERNET UNLESS YOU OWN YOUR OWN FUCKING SITE THAT CAN GUARANTEE ANYTHING YOU WAN TO FUCKING SAY JACK ASS.

  • You're such a fucking moron. My original comment was about teachers punishing students, violating freedom of speech. Facebook may have the right to censor it's content, but teachers have no say in what students can and can't say on the internet. You, sir are a complete idiot. Fuck you

  • Are you a troll or really this stupid? THE TEACHERS FUCKING PUNISHED THE KIDS FOR SOMETHING THEY WROTE ON THE INTERNET WHICH IS A PUNISHING FREE SPEECH. Stop talking about face book I don't give a shit about facebook it's about teahers unfairly punishing students. Holy shit what is wrong with you.

  • I what to see your ass talk shit in front of your teacher and disturbing the fucking learning education without getting into trouble.

    You fucking jerk.

  • Well if it was on school grounds I wouldn't because I don't have complete freedom of speech, but if I was outside of school then I would talk shit to the teacher, because it is within my rights as is what these kids did on the internet. and LOL at "disturbing the learning education" You are either a conservative fucktard or a Liberal posing as a conservative trying to give conservatives a bad name.

  • Don't you fucking get it yet!?! NO ONE has any rights! No one is entitled to anything! God-given inalienable rights, majority rule, privilege , whatever! Who ever has the guns has the rights! Whoever has the biggest bombs! Whoever is quickest to the draw!

    What? lol

  • Comment removed

  • Sorry wrong reply.

  • I think you're getting at what I'm getting at. Whoever holds the key to the prison, whoever has the strongest chains GIVES us our rights.

  • What? lol

  • School had no rights doing that to the kids.. It was not on school ground and they have no control of facebook.. What next school are going to tell there parents to block all kids from using facebook.. Story is BS and the parent is in the right..

  • Ignore the troll dude, he just does this shit for attention

  • @thekiller678 I agree, teachers should not be allowed to punish children for what they do outside of school grounds. If he wants to sue the child (or their parents) separately, cool, but punish? uh-uh. No way. I call Fahrenheit 451 on that shit.

  • I wouldn't go that far but yes, thanks someone intelligent finally responding to my comments other then this "TheLiberalssuckdick" douchebag
