This woman is a tool who does not grasp the concept of entry level. Here is an example of how that degree can move her up, even if the job is at McDonald's:
1. That degree "should" make her smart enough to master every position at the fast food place really fast. Within a month, start looking into management.
2. Apply for manager, and you have already doubled your income.
3. The only college grad manager in your area, you might get the call to work in the corporate offices.
wow your a loser for making a video about an article... why not just link to the thing unless your a whore for upload views no one will watch this crap.
Schools are just a business to rip you off. All colleges should have a 6 month money back guarantee. Either they help you find a job in 6 months or give your tuition back. Never mind the lost time,
She more than likely does not have a leg to stand on in this case as most if not all colleges do not guarantee job placement. But it by some miracle the case is heard it will send a message to colleges about their absurdly overpriced tuition rates with little to no return on student investment. At least 95 percent of the degrees that are offered are worthless to employers unless they are in technical fields or trades. The fact is most employers care about real skills and experience to back it up
MY father told me college is only good if you can go for free. Here in GA we have the Hope scholarships funded by the number/stats-illiterates that play the lotto. I have a Bachelor's in Management from Georgia State and the most I have made in the past 4.5 years is 13.75/hr. The scary part is that I'm a white guy with solid credit , work history and no criminal record. THAT IS THE NEW AMERICA FOR YOU!!!
@meinside99 I completely agree with you. The advice I would give college grads today for example is, if you go to grad school and you had to pay for it out of your own pocket, you've made a mistake. Most degrees have no place in today's economy, if you had to further your education during this recession, I would find a way to get it paid for, like with an assistantship or something.
@meinside99 About the new America thing, I have to battle to get past minorities (diversity purposes), married men or women (more likely to work harder because they have debt), and single women with children (have a kid to support, more likely to want to work). I've talked to some hiring managers, they get picky on who they hire. They would rather hire 1 of those 3 people for those reasons. So I guess I have to be non-white and poor with a kid out of wedlock to increase my chances.

I don't think most employers look at GPA. Usually that's just grad schools. But that said I could be wrong about IT degrees and their prospecive employers.
Don't fail to mention that this girl had a 2.7 GPA! What an idiot. It's NYC. They don't hand jobs over to college grads with a 2.7. People with Finance degrees, and 3.8 and above, are having a hard time finding a job now. Who the HELL gets a 2.7 in Information Technologies? She was probably busy goofing off.
bebespider, I've agree with you 100% too. You and Gutsyndicate are fucking smart asses. You both know what you're talking about and you make sense!
I graduated from this college in August of '07 and couldn't get a job either...my GPA was 3.5, I think, and I couldn't get shit moving!
It was and still is difficult to find a job. I went for Hospitality Management, Associates Degree and didn't get shit when I graduated. I wanted to get my foot in the door, then return to school from there.
And better yet, I think that the reason why I couldn't find a job after almost a year of searching was because the recession had already begun then. I've heard that it started in '08 but I think that may be false. I think it started sooner than that.
College is some what overrated. just because you got degree doesn't guarantee you to get a job, and if you get a job it won't usually be in what you graduated with.
So, I think colleges should just come out of the closet and be honest with ppl. instead of running the place like a business profit making company.
or the government should make education free, so nobody regrets the money and time they spent on it.
Gosh, Gutsyndicate, you are so fucking smart! I love everything you've just said because you make all the sense in the world! College really is overrated and you really may not get a job in what you went to school for. And yes, education SHOULD bre free...everything you said was on point! I agree with you 100%!!!!
I know, i totally agree with you. There are so many people who have degres and never go to work with what they studied for. And people with higher degrees than mine who are homeless? Another fact! I've heard about that too. You wonder why someone with so many credentials and learned experience ends up that way...college really has nothing to do with success. There are too many degrees walking around without anyone employed with their use. I'm so glad you said this because it opens the eyes.
If that's the case, then other students need to sue as well. She's not the only graduate that can't find a job. That's like if a woman gets dump by her boyfriend and wants to take him to court and make him pay.
Maybe she should sue...college must have made dumber, since nobody's born that dumb. If you make it all the way through college and are still that ignorant about the real world/job market, there's something wrong with you. Watch the news every now and then...and stop being a smack-tard. Jobs don't get handed out on silver platters to people with 2.7 GPA's (and never will be).
We live in a country that bails out the very people who got us into this position but then when people start expecting a bailout too, they're dumb? Our whole system is fucked up. Hell, I want all my taxes back.
@Stimpy31415, I will finish school tomorrow is my last final, should I sue Monroe College too? lol, she's too much, I hear from my professors she was a 2.0 GPA not 2.7.
Theres' some poetic justice in the fact that a former philosophy major can sit on his lunch break and laugh at the dumbass IT major with no job. College education in terms of it's practical use is worth nothing, especially fields that have been outsourced since the late 90's to india and asia. I have to boast that YTD i have made 96,000 after taxes this year, and well on my way to matching that by the end of the year. Fuck affirmative action and the left wing policy in our colleges!!!
It's easy to talk that shit when you're doing good. If you were unemployed and out of luck you'd have a different attitude. What a fucking loser you are, probably a fat slob sonofabitch.
According to her I should sue my college for having no job right now. My GPA was 3.4, graduated at USC, but not 2.7 from Moroe College, who's going to pay for my rent now? this crazy bitch has to be really stupid.
Here's the best part... who's going to hire her now?
Name one employer who would want to hire someone who sued their college because they can't get a job after 3 months, during a TOUGH recession? How soon before she sues THEM for not giving her a big raise after 3 months?
Way to go, Trina. Way to shoot your career in the head.
I have seen dozens of stories about this on the web but not a single photo of this chick. She graduated with a low C average 3 months ago and it is absurd that she thinks she is entitled to employment. She's gambling; hoping she'll get a huge payday. She couldn't even get a contingency lawyer to handle the case. After all this, what are the odds that ANY company in their right mind will hire her??
@Zerudah - not wanting to steal your thunder, but, Bush could have been president with an F !!! when you figure that one out, you will start to understand why we with B's will be lucky to find a job.....
She's completely nuts... What she expects? To have a good paying job after ONLY 3 months of graduating? And the amount of money she is asking is hillarious 70k unless she didnt take the financial aid and the TAP and PELL
I am a student at Monroe College and just graduated with my Associates while persuing my bachellors... I am also on the SIFE team. In the past two years I have been able to obtain 3 jobs through the Job fairs the Monroe College Office of Career Advancement has offered and I can proudly say that if I am not working at this minute is not because I cant find a job. Its because I choose not to... some of the companies I had the pleasure of working with are dying to have me working again with them.
Lachulala826, how did you get so blessed like that? I'm a former student...grad of '07 and haven't found one through their office of career advancement. Do you think that the job fairs there are the better way to go? I've never considered it before.
@Witchy1976, It's all about networking and learning how to market yourself. I've been a good net-worker and have been able to better myself with time and what better place to do it than a job fair. I'm able to thank God for giving me the grace and ability to network with tons of people that later on turn to be my best friends. The CEO of Bellisio Foods, Joel Conner, the CEO of Campbell Doug Connant, and some executives from companies like Kraft Foods are my friends and mentors in the biz world
Information Technology?!....NO WONDER...You should try a Real Degree

Well thanks!
But you know success doesn't depend on earning a degree, that is what the college wants you to believe but it's not so.
There are thousands of college drop-outs like Bill Gates who is very successful and is ppl holding college degree are working for him.
Getting a job depends more on exprience, communication, leadership, luck, networking with others.
You talking about AAS degree, we talking about ppl holding BS who are homeless.
