  • Mike has been using the theremin to get that "cutoff" effect on his keyboard right? Do you know what mike actually play on new divide? whenever i listen to the album version its hard to distinguish if its the synth or the overdriven bass.

  • @fingerfreak As far as I can tell, Mike's keyboard part is just long sustained notes during the verses and some octave jumps during the choruses, both of which mimic the bassline. During the bridge, he also doubles the bass on the..."DUN DUN DUN" parts, for lack of a better description, haha. He uses the theremin as a filtering/EQ control to get those "swirling" noises in the verses, the "cutoff" you're referring to is when he pulls his hand away from it right before the choruses.

  • nice

  • I love all ur covers :P and the hair :)

  • i guess nerd these day r much better then cool people

  • Wooow!!

    great xD

  • That bridge is not actually played on guitar like that is it? I've seen in live vids of Brad playing something but he's always turned around during that point messing with peddles or something

  • @lamborghini2u Brad doesn't play anything during the bridge on the live version. It's guitar on the original recording, but it's edited and chopped up in a way that makes it impossible to replicate live. The way I played it in the video was something I just made up that sounded close, the way I transcribed it in my tabs is a lot closer to what the studio version sounds like.

  • 212 people can't tell the difference between a synthesizer and a guitar.

(I normally hate the "x number of dislikes" type of comments, but I figured I'd make an exception since it's my own video. :P)

  • Awesome. Can you send me the tab???

  • @william1997kso Read the description :)

  • Daymun your freaking awesome!!!

  • 2:04 - 2:16 lol

  • you're good...

  • @@ ... very good ...

  • good shit!! :D

  • FUNKEH!

  • vow superb tabs like your cover very much

  • you got my sub

  • aahhh you play it so well!! im so bad at playing the part that starts around 1:40 like the chorus area, haha my fingers dont like the position

  • how did you get the song before its releasing?

  • @Paperkut96 I didn't. This was posted the day after it came out.

  • @astatslpvids oh ok i didnt notice that xD btw very good covers, im still a begginer but i hope someday i can play like you xD

  • all that views for that? I can play that too.

  • nice cover and hover =)

  • grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

     (guawwwwww)

  • THIS S AWESOME IMAGINE ALL THESE PEOPLE HAVE TALENT

  • Proves that "GINGERS DO HAVE SOULS!!"

  • Is that dude linkin park?

  • @rock76222 read the title

  • damn you are fucking awesome!!!! =D

  • damn i freakin love the solo. NICE COVER MAN!

  • good cover!...

    x3

  • Is there rhythm guitar in the studio version?

  • @AnimaJames No.

  • Best cover on YouTube. Great work, great tab, great video, great to learn from. Kudos man, you've earned the hundreds of likes and positive comments. :)

  • @jarrstratfir Posting the video within a couple days of the song being released certainly helped too, lol.

  • @astatslpvids Ah well. Still the best cover I've ever come across, and I've done a lot of searching in my time as a self-taught amateur guitarist. :P

  • gayest way 2 play this song

  • @jimmy123972 You must think the song is "gay" in general then, because I'm playing it EXACTLY the way Brad Delson plays it.

  • @jimmy123972 if you can play this song better than him, post it in youtube..NO LIFE

  • good job, i like also your tuning xD

  • That was awesome!!!!! Great job!! Keep On Rocking lol :)

  • I'm thinking of saving up some money for a new guitar, what do you think of the Mark Tremonti Signature PRS? Or just any PRS in general?

  • @LPHJHGuitar Depends if you're talking about the Tremonti SE or the actual Mark Tremonti signature model. The PRS SE's are actually fairly nice guitars for being foreign-made "bargain models," their biggest drawback is the pickups are pretty weak. If you'reafter one of the higher-end models, I'd recommend trying to find a good deal on a used one, as they're pretty pricey brand new. I have a friend who got a used Custom 22 in great condition for $1,500, which is about $700 cheaper than a new one.

  • very nice x)

  • This guy can SHREAD.

  • you like the steelers

  • People who call this guy ginger should be violently prosecuted cause this sick!!! GOOD JOB MAN!!

  • Really nice cover, best I've seen. Full congrats to you bro.

  • dont listen u were amazing

  • He already has the haircut?

  • btw i dont think brad did record this in Db tuning cause if you watch this video watch?v=RrbwYXueA2I around 0:25 you can see him playing from 8x10 to 6x8 exactly how he plays it live

  • @fingerfreak Good catch. I think i'm just going to leave the studio tab the way it is though, since it really doesn't matter which tuning you play it in, and it makes more sense for the guitar and bass to be in the same tuning.

  • lol lovin the hair, no disrespect :)

  • hey, here's a few tips

u could play this song in drop d string

doing this, cover the E (now in drop d so its D),A,and D strings for the chorus varying through the 3, 6, and 1st frets

    :)

  • @lonelyguy082 Except that would be completely wrong since there are no powerchords in this song.

  • @astatslpvids there are different ways to play it, in standard or drop d, still playing the same thing

  • @lonelyguy082 ...No, that's definitely not the same thing. This entire song is octaves on the A and G strings. There are no chords in this song whatsoever, so the low E/D string doesn't come into play at all.

  • @astatslpvids the way i percieved it/learned it, I play on drop d and it still sounds the same as if I were to play it in standard tuning

  • hey man i'm playing it at standar tuning it is wrong to lay it by that way?

  • @LinkinParkG13 Not really. You don't use the low E string in this song so it doesn't matter if you drop tune or not, you just have to move everything down a fret if you do it in standard/Drop D. Brad even plays it in Drop D live since none of the other songs he uses a Strat on are tuned down half a step.

  • i like your hair

  • Just joking bro, your actually really good. :)

How did you learn all that, and I take it your a pretty big Linkin Park fan?

  • Don't you hate it when your glasses fall in your soup?

  • well done

  • Gingers do have souls.

  • OMG I SEE STEELERS IN THE BACKGROUND IM A HUGE STEELERS FAN!!!!!!! :D

  • @1littletimmy The Super Bowl this year is still haunting me. Haha.

  • @1littletimmy i know me too lol

  • hey im thinking of getting a Ibanez XP300 Xiphos Electric Guitar what do you think?

  • @linkinparksbestever I hate the Edge series tremolos that Ibanez uses on their cheaper models like that (I'm not a fan of locking trems in general, but give me a real Floyd Rose or a Kahler over an Edge any day). Other than that, it's probably not a bad guitar. I've never really had any big gripes with Ibanez other than hardware and cosmetic stuff (finish/inlay options, for the most part) on some of their guitars.

  • @astatslpvids dude i think you should try and learnt eh songs from the new album a thousand suns, iv learnt all i need to learn from you, your awesome. so can you try and learn the new album, :)

  • @astatslpvids hey dude how do u do that sound wher it comes in and then the chorus like ur turning the volumn up

  • @spidercocks You just pick the note with the volume turned all the way down and then turn up the knob while it's sustaining.

  • @astatslpvids ok thanks man what note is it i use

  • well done dude. u gota show me how to play like u

  • what guitar is that

  • yea man ur a total beast!!!!! what type of guitar do u have

  • @MrModernwarfaretwo That ain't beast... Just a good cover. Realize the guitar part is only played like only 2/3 of the song, also it not being a hard song. Still, it's a cover, and was good.

  • I don't understand these comments...? One hate like has no else to do... and the others just praise you to heaven... or I just misunderstood comments... anyway... this is average.. or not even that.. guitar playing. The small solo was a bit..hmm.. weird in my opinion. BUT, not so bad played. (no thumbs up or down) Keep practicing. :)

  • @Uchih4C1oud The thing with the "solo" is that it's essentially a bunch of small chopped-up samples of guitar noise that have been edited together, and a lot of them have been pitch-shifted up or down an octave, so it's really not something that can be accurately recreated in a live setting (which is why Brad doesn't even attempt it when they play this song live). I just took my best shot at playing something that sounded similar, I left it out of the tab though since I know it's not precise.

  • @astatslpvids what are the amp settings? Like in terms of Gain, Bass, mid and treble? and also the pickup (neck or bridge or mid) used? Plzzz....

  • @papan1990 Anything Linkin Park is always going to be on the bridge pickup (with maybe a couple exceptions, but this song isn't one of them). My amp settings are posted on my profile.

  • could you give me guitar lessons?

  • Where exactly in the song does the bass hit a low Db? Or does it occur in more than one spot?

  • @dinkar95 it happens in a bunch of spots, it coincides with the "and your voice was all I heard" line at the end of the verses, and the "let it be enough..." line at the end of the choruses.

  • haha ignore all these retards its clear youve tried to satisfy them with explanations but dont bother, ur awesome keep playing =D

  • Dude....Stop swaying its making me dizzy., no offense but you really should stop

  • @edricseno That's honestly just a habit of mine, I guess. My live performing instinct makes me want to move around when I'm playing guitar, but I don't want to accidentally end up with part of my guitar out of camera shot, so I always keep my feet still. But I still feel weird if I'm not moving in some manner, so I always shift my weight from one foot to the other.

  • @astatslpvids oh, ok, i get, you should take that habit in a hardcore/metal song and do a headbang... hehehehe just kidding! :))

  • @edricseno Haha, I was actually in a screamo band back in high school, and I found out very quickly that headbanging when you're wearing glasses isn't the best idea.

  • I am tired of some of these rude comments some people are giving you, you make awesome videos and have a sweet guitar collection!

    Keep it up!

  • NICE GUITAR MAN. what model isit may i ask?

  • ok since all the trolling is not nearly over ill say well done but i will point out one or 2 things you say you have seen them live and brad only plays one part the rest being sampled that may be true live but a lot of ablums these days over dubb record more guitar parts to make the sound fuller trivium for example are record 6 or 7 different guitar parts for there somes it adds depth to the sound on recorded albums but if they done uses samples / tapes live sound live will be poor

  • @be1garath155 If there was a second guitar part on the recording, they'd probably just have Chester or Phoenix play it live. Chester plays the second guitar part on a couple songs where Mike has to play keys, and there are a couple more where Phoenix plays rhythm guitar and they sample the bass part. I can only think of a couple LP songs where they leave out entire guitar parts live, and that's only when there are 3-4 different parts on the recording and they have to condense it down to 2.

  • @astatslpvids in this song only Brad plays the guitar... I saw them live with this song..

  • @parkoflink I know that...that's exactly what I was saying in that comment. I was saying if there WAS a second guitar part, there'd be someone else playing guitar live. It's only Brad, so there's only one part.

  • the first 10 seconds i thought Omg

The other 4 minutes and 28 seconds Gimme a break

    When it Ended i said

    Thank you god

  • @XXoHackzoroXX Again, would you say that after watching Linkin Park play this song live? Because Brad Delson plays EXACTLY what I play here when they do, save for the fact that he doesn't even attempt to play the breakdown at 2:48 and they sample it.

  • When I saw the live version, Brad did not play that one part at 2:44

  • @Godzilla3709 I explained that in the description.

  • kuy !

  • very bad

  • @LPNoey Go to a Linkin Park show. Watch Brad Delson play the song. He'll play exactly what I play here, except he doesn't play the breakdown at 2:48. Would you go up to him and say "very bad" afterwards? I doubt it.

  • homo in yellow

  • @peeveeEdghie Yes, I've been sharing a bed with a woman every night for the last six and a half months because I'm a homo. You're a fucking genius.

  • Nice job this is great. I give it a thumbs up and those who all think your bad are deaf.

  • dude what is the chord u play in this thanks

  • nice ;]

  • GOOD PLAYING MAAN! i wish i could do that -.-, oh and ignore the fking haters their judging you based on looks

  • Haters gonna hate.

Fucking awesome job as always man, and anyone who disagrees can blow me.

  • can you tab what you played on the breakdown please?

  • this is BS soo sucky

  • @aznmurderer Yes, because 100% correct is "sucky."

  • dude your freaking awesome!!! if i made a band, then i would let you play the guitar for sure! you are awesome!!!

  • nice

  • the 183 dislike are the fags who have no talent

  • which distortion pedle and amplifier do you use??

  • hey =)

your videoclip is very good =)

Can you make a simply tutorial?? Especially the solo??

    Thanks =)

  • Will you do any KISS videos in the future? Like Rock And Roll All Nite, I Love It Loud, New Day Delilah and Black Diamond? And maybe tab some songs by the person mentioned in my username? Pleeaaasseee :)

  • @95MichaelJackson I doubt I'd do any MJ stuff, but I'm not sure if you were aware already and that's why you asked me, but I'm a HUGE KISS fan. I even saw the original lineup live 3 times between 1996 and 2000. I know how to play a bunch of their songs, although I'm not as big of a perfectionist about them as I am with LP songs, especially with the solos. Like when I play Deuce, I play a solo that's a mixture of the way Ace played it in the 70s and the way Bruce played it on Alive III.

  • VERY GOOD YOUR ARE AMAZING, BIG Cover's the song

  • I can't download it ! but i am a big fan of linkin park i really want to learn how to play lp's song correctly can you send me all LP's tab my e-mail adress is p4953362@yahoo.com.THX

  • your fucking awesome

  • Wow astat now I see why you turned the comments off some people here are real assholes

  • Ginger cunt.

  • @MetalPoster Yep. One who has more talent in his little finger than you will ever have in your entire oxygen-wasting body. Go chug some Drano.

  • @astatslpvids hahahaha the best reply i ever seen to a hateful comment i nearly pissed myself laughing

  • @astatslpvids its not hare ur in drop d even he could do it

  • @1R0NIVI4N Funny, because the Drop D tuning is completely irrelevant in this song - the low D string isn't used at all.

And lol @ people who think the use of Drop D tuning automatically equals a talentless guitarist. Jimmy Page used Drop D. Dimebag used drop D. Even Robert Johnson used Drop D tuning nearly 100 years ago.

  • @MetalPoster

    Heyyy!!!

    Gingers have souls!!!

  • @MetalPoster

Stop dissing yourself, it's bad for you.

  • What kind of Ibanez is that?

    Also, great cover bra

  • @Hardcoregamer300 rg3ex1

  • search this: people who have good guitar but only play linkin park song, and this video comes out LOLOLOL

  • @ThugCookie 1. I play a LOT more than just Linkin Park. I was playing KISS, Sabbath, and Zeppelin long before I started doing LP covers. There's a reason my channel name is "astatslpvids" and not "astatsguitarvids." 2. Learn how Youtube's search results work - this video has "linkin park" and "guitar" in the tags, and it has over 150,000 views. You could search for anything that involves the phrases "linkin park" and "guitar," and this video would probably be one of the first results.

  • perfect

  • 178 thumbs downs on this one...178 idiots who hopefully never produce offspring. Heh.

  • @astatslpvids 178 don't like it?

    They can't do better :)

5* for this cover. The best on youtube.

  • LOL! How come every hater either has a bad amp or a shitty camera or just some thing that works against them??

    Nice cover btw.

  • @dtmetallicafan Or can't tune their guitar...I swear it's almost 50/50 with any guitar cover I see on Youtube that the person playing is out of tune. >.<

  • pretty good.

  • BTW, sorry I know i JUST commented, but the comment would only accept 8 more characters. Just wondering, have you ever considered like, somehow creating a Linkin Park cover band, and like (idk if it's possible) going on tours or something? LIke maybe get together with Alex like you guys did on In Pieces, and grab a drummer and maybe a rapper if Alex can't or doesn't want to do it, get a DJ, bassist and rhythm guitarist (unless one of the other members played rhythm)? Could be fun :D

  • @nickanderson4639 I tried doing something like that in the past with DJ Bloodfrost, Ravok, and Reflectionist (Reflectionist on drums, Ravok on vocals/rhythm guitar, Bloodfrost as DJ, and me on guitar/bass - we never found a rapper) but it never worked out. That was about 4 years ago though, and technology to make Internet-based collaborations easier has come a long way since then. I actually prefer to multi-task though, so I dunno about a full "band," I'd rather do collabs with people like Alex.

  • Ah dude you suck so bad if you can ONLY play 99.9999% of everything RIGHT...get with the freakin' program (if only sarcasm could be expressed in typing)! And come on...you suck for knowing that it's not guitar at the beginning! Haha...(sarcasm over now) I tried recreating the "solo" myself, and it may be..ehh sort of accurate...idk really how to judge them, on account of (as you've said) it's a mix of guitar and keyboard. I would try to upload mine, but my amp sucks and blew a fuse...lol

  • This song is propably the easiest song on guitar. Its pretty good song for beginners. It looks like you arent beginner. Its kinda weird that you are playing below your playing skill.

  • @synysterbat I probably wouldn't even bother doing songs like this if they took me any longer to figure out than they do. I remember when I first downloaded this song, I listened to it once, picked up my guitar on the second listen, and had it figured out by the end of the third listen. I did two takes of the video, A/B'd them to see which one came out better, and uploaded the better one. I probably invested an hour's worth of time total in this song, a bit more if you account for tabbing it.

  • good work

  • I really like your covers ...nice Job =)thumbs up

  • Dude I would have so much fun in your apartmentt, no homo. It looks like it's all about MUSIC. If I were you I would do nothing but play my instruments all day. This is a great cover by the way.

  • @BlaineValentine214 This was actually filmed at my parents' house before I moved out, I haven't put up any videos from my new apartment yet. It doesn't have quite as much music gear in it as the old house, but there's still a lot! :)

  • Wow a real life NERD, taking over Youtube 1 video at a time

  • @CocaBabi Yes, nerds totally graduate high school with a mediocre GPA and move into an apartment with their girlfriend at age 21. Moron.

  • @astatslpvids WELL, I THINK IT'S SAFE TO SAY AND I BET EVERYBODY AGREES WITH ME... WE WOULD RATHER NOT WANT TO SEE WHAT YOUR GIRLFRIEND LOOKS LIKE. YUCK

  • @CocaBabi 5'4", 120 pounds, long blonde hair, blue eyes, long sexy legs...shall I go on?

  • Comment removed

  • @astatslpvids haha fuck yea

  • @CocaBabi But you must remember jack ass looks aren't everything to some people who aren't shallow. Unlike yourself, that is.

  • @CocaBabi Oh, cute, I'm getting famous on YouTube and I don't even have any videos. =) I was going to say that I'm sorry you've got such a small penis and subsequently such a big point to prove, but CocaBabi sounds like a pretty feminine name so I'm gonna go with overall self-image issues? Sorry to hear about that sweetie.

  • @TheNewFoShizzle You raise a good point Katie! I wonder if CocaBabi lives in St. Cloud, drives a really nice car, and revs his engine at red lights and in parking lots all the time because he's over-compensating for something? *GASP* TINY DICK, IS THAT YOU?!?!?!

  • @astatslpvids Now that would be an unfortunate encounter.

By the way, in describing me you left out that I have an amazing ass. =P

  • @TheNewFoShizzle We should get St. Cloud Superman to intervene!

And fine then! I was gonna go the whole respectful route in describing you, but if you insist...KATIE HAS AN AWESOME ASS EVERYBODY. AND SHE LOOKS REALLY GOOD NAKED. <_<

  • @CocaBabi well judging that you are going on youtube to find musicians in the hope of finding what thier GFs look like so you can see what your likely to find at this level shows a hint of desperation and well quite frankly VIRGINESS

  • @CocaBabi soooo...if he's a nerd...yet you watch his videos..that makes you a...super nerd? just trying to figure it out...sorry for the diss but...you know how many people (including myself) have benefited from the time he takes to do what he does? a ton... Astat i bet that mediocre GPA would've been higher had you not been trying to help the internet =D...just kidding man great covers...i'm very impressed

  • Meh, not bad

  • why is everyone giving this guy shit the way i see it he played a good sounding tune so what if he missed like 1 note in the whole thing id like to see you do better

  • you are really good!!

  • omg seriously i hate people who judge on people's looks instead of enjoying the song -_- sheesh like they can play better and they might be good-looking but inside they look like shit that was rubbed on a building :P By the way AWESOME!!! I coudnt have done better XP (thats actually true...)

  • haha nice ur amazing

  • u need a life

  • @deatheart97 Yes, the fact that it took me all of 10 minutes to figure out how to play this song is indicative of the fact that I "need a life."

  • So...after nearly a year, I'm turning comments back on. Have at it, but if people continue to be as stupid with their comments as they were last time, I won't think twice about turning them off again.

BTW, I fully believe this is still the best cover of this song on Youtube.

  • @astatslpvids "BTW, I fully believe this is still the best cover of this song on Youtube. "

    ....you SERIOUSLY believe that?

  • @sirvegeta It's the only one I've seen that is both dead-on in terms of the parts that Brad plays live, and also includes the parts that he doesn't play live (the feedback fade-ins and the bridge, which isn't right, but at least I attempted it). If you think you've seen a better one, I'll gladly check it out and get back to you.

  • @astatslpvids Well technically, anyone who plays this song exactly as your tabs say will have a more accurate live cover if they don't play the fade-ins or breakdown.

  • @rockNkidd This is true, but that's also why I always make a live and studio version tab for every song, assuming it's been played live. There are most often some subtle differences between the two versions, they just usually aren't significant enough to warrant me doing videos for both.

  • I think I'm going to disable comments on this video guys, they're getting to be way too much for me to manage. Everything that needs to be discussed has already been discussed, and if you're too lazy/stupid to find the answers to what you're looking for, I'm sorry, but I'm not going to help you anymore. Read the description, read the comments that have already been posted, and if you still think the intro is played on guitar, please do me a favor and go stick your tongue in an electrical socket.

  • what chord did you use
