Amazing video!!! Would have loved to see jimmy dickinson play for pompey but im way 2 young : ( ... what a legend and great player ... he is portsmouth football club ; )
Brilliant-genuine unseen footage,if March '62 from records & progs is Div III match vs. Bristol C.(red shirts & white shorts). Pompey won 5-0. Crowd 20,584 - looks that number.Gentleman Jim in No 6-red number! Goalscorers:Saunders, Blackburn, Barton, Dobson & an o.g. Team: Beattie,Rutter,Wilson,Brown,Snowdon,Dickinson,Barton,Gordon,Saunders,Blackburn,Dodson. Film is so rare I would let Richard Owen PFC Historian at FP know about its existence-must be the earliest colour film of the Blues. PUP!
Thanks very much for your info. on the match in the film. I would be glad to pass on details to Richard Owen but do not know how to contact him. On another Pompey subject, whatever happed to Pat Neil (the youngest player in the league as far as I remember in about 1957) and a few years older than me but a fellow pupil at Portsmouth Northern Grammar School?
Sorry, I don't have any more film. The shots you see were taken on Standard 8mm film in March 1962 as far as I recall and Pompey won about 3-0. Would be grateful if anyone could confirm and give any more details with more info from archives?
Thanks mate at the same, I just appreciate the footage, and also thanks for the Info Charcoal.
Hey pjf1943, Can i use this footage on two football sites I moderate, of course I will give you full reps for this, to view the site visit my youtube card :-)
Thanks again for your comments. You are welcome to use this footage on your sites. I hope in the near future to put a slightly improved version with exactly the same football footage (which is all I have) but with spelling of Dickinson corrected and one or two other text changes. Peter
He he I never noticed the spelling mistakes, I could maybe have a little play with this vid and make a Jimmy dickinson Comp out of this, Of course I will give you a mention, very very rare stuff pjf and appreciated you sharing the footage with us, dont forget to nip your head in to see my vids, I have a couple of ports/hampton comps on here reflecting the rivalry between the two teams, I could do something similar with your J dickinson footage :-)

I went to this game aged 15 and stood on the North Terrace. This is great - my only criticism is that the music belongs to a much earlier age.
