  • killer!!!!

  • Saw them open for Maiden at Radio City on "The Warning" tour, they blew them off the stage...and I love Maiden but the band was tight and Tate blew the roof off the joint.

  • Plaat, Song.

    x

  • Dit is en blijft ons nummer Gait!!

  • Sonofabitch Geoff Tate could sing!

  • @HeavyMetal707 you are either new here, or plainly blasphemous. or both.

  • Ahh, not a 'complete' fact, eh?? , my bad... ;) Thanks, I'll see what I can find out from a friend of mine who knows him. Um, ah, I did win the Geoff Tate look alike contest before! LOL

  • @dougeroonie Ok cool thanks.I know its not important what he is lol but i am so curious..What a beautiful exotic man lol

  • Leave Tate the hell alone. He is the best vocalist of all times. So what if he does not sound the same.He is 52 friggin years old of course he is not going to sing like this anymore..Anywho we love him..Also Ryche fans I have always wondered what race is Geoff tate? He looks like he is mixed with Native American,Latino or some kind of Asian. Something exotic. I know Tate is a Native American name.It means windy great talker.

  • @Ameenahshouse heyyy Ameenah, I found out today he was born in Stuttgart, Germany -- where Porsche's are made! I hear you on the voice, he is older and the notes he could hit, tone, quality and all that jazz was phenomenal. "London" is my fav for vocals and backing as well!!! killer song... It's a shame people are dissing. whiney, blimey sunzabitches, bums, they are, those dissers!!!! kids will be kids, right?? ;) Been a fan since '89 Go 'Ryche

  • @dougeroonie Thanks..He was born in Germany, but his dad was stationed there in the military. So he's German by nationality because of that. But I wonder what his ethnicity is? He looks mixed with something. So exotic and yummy!!

  • @Ameenahshouse According to an Ellis Island records search, it seems most Tates came from Britain:

    ellisislandrecords*.*org/search/matchMore.asp*?*LNM=TATE

(remove the asterisks to get the correct URL)

  • neuregel...

Is geoff tate from queensryche gay?

I been a queensryche fan since rage for order and I love the music. Its something Ive always thought about since operation mindcrime. golds gym mucle shirts and pony tails need to go

Yes, I think he is out-of-the-closet gay. I remember reading that somewhere... Doesn't affect his music, though.

  • @victoelguerrero gay? he has 4 daughters and his wife is the band's manager.... sounds pretty straight to me....

  • @victoelguerrero if he was gay would you suck his cock while he sang to you?

  • @elduce580 ummmm.....no why? I'm sure you would bro, but not me!!! I DON'T CARE IF HE'S GAY!!!! I care about the magic he lost because he told the WORLD he was gay!!! I liked him better in the closet because he had anger in his heart and in his should. Now he's all gay and happy and shit and can't sing worth a crap!!!

  • @victoelguerrero he isnt gay you homophobic prick he has a big tittied wife and 4 kids sometimes cocksuckers like you should keep your dick beaters off the keyboards

  • unfortunately Geoff could never hit any of the highest notes in any tour after rage for order. like a true pro he compensated, with beautifully sustained notes an octave lower, but it wasn't the same. I got to see the warning tour (and had the tape from the Japan performance), rage for order, mindcrime, empire, a couple after. Nothing like those early years, partly because they had not gotten so big and the fans that were there were hardcore.

  • @batvette isn't there some operation for that, to repair the vocal cords?

  • @richintalent There is, but the procedure is very risky, and damage to the vocal chords takes a long time to heal, even with surgery. James LaBrie of Dream Theater ruptured his vocal chords in late '94 after food poisoning, and didn't feel completely better until 2002. It happens more than you think, and is incredibly devastating to a vocalist, even with sugery, and their voice may likely never be exactly the same.

  • 5:12 is the cat's meooooowww ;)

  • he lost something when he came out of the closet. I don't give a shit if he sucks dick as long as he sings his ass off. Since he came out though, he's lost that anger that came from being oppressed for so long. His death was inevitable once he decided to come out. Great day for gays in the worls, sad day for me. RIP Geoff.

  • @victoelguerrero hes not fucking dead you dipshit

  • @victoelguerrero and hes not gay

  • @SgIronMan - Seriously? WOW!! Did you SEE the last tour? I'm not calling you names, cos I'm a little more intelligent than that, but I never said he was dead literally. I understand that he is alive and well, but he is dead in the way that a writer gets writer's block. Can you not agree that they've lost something in past few years? I mean call it the decapitation of Chris DeGarmo or Geoff coming out as gay, but they've lost something.

  • @victoelguerrero ok first off I DID in fact see queensryche live about 2 months ago and I thought they totally kicked ass, Geoffs voice was still spot on. And as far as their newer stuff goes, it still rocks in my book though of course its not as great as their earlier music, especially now that DeGarmo is no longer in the band. And I'm also pretty sure Geoff has some daughters and is married, but whether or not he also engages in homesexual relations i dont know, nor do i care

  • @victoelguerrero yeah it's called age. rock and roll is a kid's game, by the time you hit 35-40 the creative juice just isn't flowing anymore. Musicians may remain competant at their instruments but songwriting is difficult.

It's not only music, aging affects us all like that, you might swear you'll still want to do the same things you do now in 20 years but you won't. (I'm 49 BTW)

I still like the Rhyche but I'm not into them blaring, driving my car at 120mph chased by cops anymore.

  • @batvette Tell this to Bach and Beethoven. What happens I think is that when rock musicians get older they stay stuck and refuse to mature and compose more mature music. I man I loved this stuff when I was a teenager but to be listening to it in my 40's, well, is just kinda silly. I still like it (that's why I'm hear) but hopefully, tastes change. Otherwise you just stagnate. Life is change...

  • @TheReligionkills Words of wisdom my friend. Im glad someone is sayong it, if only more would listen right. Im a bit younger but I know what you mean. Its disgusting how callow and ignorant our age has become, too many children and far too few adults. I tip my hat comrade.

  • brilliant .

  • I remember my buddy lending me this cassette back in 84 n him telling me they sounded like no one else, I fell in love with it n followed them ever since. Each record sounding different from the last. Its what u look for in a original n talented band. N to the motherfucker who yawned, this came out 20 years before you started chokin ur chicken!

  • this guy has the voice of a viking warrior. incredible.

  • @1288dallas Have you really heared lot a viking warriors ? LOL

  • tate's performance is beyond imagination,just perfect.

  • only in these days i can understand what's the Grand Transition.....

  • @liquidgateband coming up on magic mushrooms

  • "knowledge, is it worth such torment?"

  • The Ryche are hard to categorize. Maybe operatic, classical, progressive metal.

  • Wait a sec....

    Three people dislike this? Really??

How can you NOT love this epic piece of seminal Metal?

  • yawn.

  • This is awesome looking forward to tomorrows concert

  • Comment removed

  • I was there waiting at the record store when this came out ...... damn that was a long time ago and will never get tired of hearing it

  • where the fuck do these kids get off being that brilliant?!?!?!?

  • @hunigrl71 "WHY"do I love you so?????

  • this will be played on my funeral...

  • another masterpiece by queensryche.

  • Now go listen to the new album...you'll puke in your mouth! Still a fan though!

  • I see a lot of people commenting about listening to this while high on something, I think this is giving Queensryche a bad name. Sorry, but it's just my opinion.

  • @Skython11 haha... Queensryche used to be nicknamed kregryche because of their cocaine use in the 80's.

THIS SONG is about tripping on shrooms (GT said so while introducing it on the 91 Building Empires tour)

To this day GT says he feels everyone should go on at least 1 hallucenigenic trip per year

    so.......?

  • @rknrll1 Hahahaaa, I never knew that, so never mind about my comment, it doesn't make a difference. Hahaa

  • @Skython11 opinions are like assholes everyone's got one and they all stink

  • @oneeye4263

    That's a pretty closeminded view.

  • @Skython11 lol queensryche are pretty mushroom oriented

  • You don't need to compare this.

It's just like fruit you can choose from.

Sometime's you like strawberries and sometimes you like a bananas!

Shall we say that Rob, Bruce, Geoff, Ronnie and others are also on the fruitlist?

  • first song i ever heard by these lads, ever so long ago. saw them at Donington years and years ago... - superb!

  • ive seen this band over 60 times live...roads to madness is epic....period

  • Amazing song

  • What the fuck is that ???? Why didn't i heard this band before...

this song chills me out haha, just known.

  • i listened to this song on acid once, and the last 2 minutes were the most intense 2 mintues of my life, not joke,

  • @Sjamsucks haha, I bet. I used to trip out on it, just sober. But I used to smoke a bunch of pot and listen to this over and over and hear more and more great things on it.

  • the BEST voice, EPIC!!!

  • seen them on this tour, with dio.a fan ever since.

  • @sunkcontrol Me too! September 1984... \m/ (:o)

  • I could listen to this for hours. Magnificent tune.

  • memories.

  • The Warningis a great album from start to finish, and this is a perfect track to complete it. And that's how I feel, it doesn't end the album, it completes the journey the album takes you on.

A perfect epic I enjoy singing every chance I get.

  • best 3 queensryche songs ever

    no sanctuary

    roads to madness

    nm156

    all off the warning 1984

and oh queen of the riech and lady wore black off 1983 ep

  • @morenita2g Yup!

  • VERY UNDER RATED ALBUM AND ONE OF MY FAVES FROM QUEENSRYCHE

  • Comment removed

  • Oh' Yeah! The Ryche kicks serious ass! Nothing Pink Floyd, Rush, or Dream Theater did can compare to Chris DeGarmo's guitar work / songwriting, and Geoff Tate's vocals.

  • im awaiting endlessly, for my steak at applebees

  • after empire major suck action..they suck now

  • @wasp3451 Actually Empire only has two good tracks: The title track and Best I can. So it's really after Mindcrime that they started sucking.

  • @loooooooo65432 My sentiments exactly.

  • One of my greatest regrets is still not having seen this band live. This is the perfect way to complete an awesome album.

  • Bin seein this band as a suggestion for a while, didn't bother to check it out until just the other day and gotta say I have been missin some days that I coulda been rockin out to QUEENSRYCHE.Iwas very impressed and intend to get all the albums over time (ASAP).They could definitely reach my third favorite band, but in regards to the first two positions they could never be budged NAZARETH my personal fave of all time then WASPsecond but I love this, this band definitely deserves a top position.

  • this song has more meaning to me than anything..i was killed in a car accident and then in a coma for days after..they sing of the feelings of time and life in the coma that i felt..completely....it was too trippy to hear the sing this after i had done that..i tribute that to God acknowledging the fact that all that go through what i went through see similar things and all think they are crazy...like myself..hence..our own Road to Madness

  • I discovered them quite by accident in 86 when I found the Live in Tokyo video in a video store. Grabbed it sight unseen and it blew me away. Been a fan ever since. One of the most easily recognized and great voices of metal. Thx for posting

  • OH HOW THE TIME HAS PAST OK WITH ME WE STILL GOT ROCK N ROLL !!!! AND MOST OF THIS IS JUST A MEMORY BUT GREAT ONES...

  • Queenryche RULES!!!!! But I miss Chris De Garmo, just not the same!!!!

  • @NytSecrets so true...so true.

  • Goose pimples have a tendency to develop during this track...

  • personal taste is subjective and we have to respect it!truth is that overall,Tate is by far the most skilled vocalist, compared only to Freddie Mercury

  • Geoff Tates vocals owns!!

  • When I was a kid I went to a swap meet with my aunt and bought a bag of beat up cassettes which included this album and rage for order... Needless to say both albums completely blew my mind.

  • diary of a mad man

  • thumbs up if u think queensryche is one of the most underrated bands of all! they are my favorite band its all i listen too!!

  • thumbs up if u think queensryche is one of the most underrated bands of all! they are my favorite band its all i listen too!!

  • have u heard quennsryche lately they dont compare to iron maiden or judas priest.

  • @ebswift1 None of them are what they used to be.

  • @wiz9496 your a monkey too

  • Una banda sin igual, como cada banda que es postuma por que se fusiona en la trilogia de voz, instrumentos y liricas. Una voz muy codiciada en el genero del heavy metal y hasta ahora inigualable. B.E.J.R.

  • AWSOME SONG!!! it never gets old.. so much emotion in the vocals still gives me goose bumps....

  • this was the first "ryche" song i was ever into, got it off a compilation album in the very early 80's. still love them....

  • My dad suggested Queensrÿche to me years ago. He listened to them himself back in the day, but I never really got hooked on Operation: Mindcrime and Empire. I much rather listen to their first EP and two albums. This song is fantastic. Truly epic.

  • What are people talking about this sounding like Maiden?

I meen im a huge Maiden fan but has Maiden ever had a chorus this grand?

  • u can tll they copied maiden this song but their still bad asssss

  • @ebswift1 Maiden copied Judas Priest and the "early" songs from queensryche in the 80's.. Iron maiden is overrated deluxe.

  • @stovnergutt You're an idiot... Maiden sounds nothing like Priest, They never have.

  • @coupedup3214 That's right. They don't.. Rob Halford is far more superior than Maiden. The same goes for Geoff Tate.. Rob and Geoff is the only two artists that's still able to use falsetto, vibrato and head voice properly. Especially Geoff tate.. It's a shame that Dio died, RIP.

  • @stovnergutt i could see where you might think that if my ears were covered by the walls of my anus from having my head up my ass like you obviously must have. Maiden sound NOTHING like any of the 3, and in the last 10 years, Maiden have been by FAR, the best of the lot.... and i like all 3, A LOT!

  • @stovnergutt you are a monkey end of story and have no flippin clue about music or anything for that matter and with this comment you must go jump off a cliff due to the fact you have exactly no music knowledge.

  • One of the greatest songs of Queensrÿche!

Listen to it closely! It rocks

  • saw q.r a few nights ago. awesome they played @ my prom in 86

  • omg geoff tates voice!!! such an amazing variety of ranges and he hits each one perfectly!!!

  • can't compare to much voice to hi for the rest

  • Wow, the solos are pretty fuckin' good!

  • good song by a good band till the 90's

  • @leakthefreak still great

  • I'm pretty sure that a very young Mike Portnoy ( in 1984 ) have listened a lot of times this album..Pretty obvious influence isn't it ?

  • Early Queensryche does sound kind of like Iron Maiden in my opinion. However, I feel they have different elements in their music both lyrically and musically, even in their earliest "emulation recordings." That having been said, this song has always been amazing, and other than "Eyes of a Stranger," no other song out there can even hold a candle to it.

  • @MalkavianWeezil iron maiden influenced a lot expecially power metal peesonaly i only like about 4 or 5 maiden songs but queenryches early/ heavy stuff like... well obviously queen of teh reich is thicker louder and heavier than maiden i can listen to that numerous times every day for week but i could only listen 2 about 2 maiden songs every 2 weeks

  • This moves. post, past, and present.

  • O man I needed to hear this after listening to the travesty that was performed last week by this band...oh the good ol days!

  • The ryche were still kids at this point--

they were emulating their heroes, yet they had something about them. From Rage for Order on,

They cut their own path, and what a path it was.

I still love this album, though.

  • hey metal1981 tell me why you had to be a powerslave?

  • @THENZA4000 I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to die. I mean, afterall, he's a god, can't he live on?

  • pretty kick ass song..

  • queensryche please don't compare just listen..... cool isn't

  • ...used to listen to the album over and over on cassette back when I was around 12 years old - I'm 32 now. Even 20 years later, their music is still awesome....

  • @lordmephysto

me too. I actually wore out one of the cassettes! (you know; it starts to "drag" and stuff) lol

  • Free the scene insider

Never looking back to find why

Ride a course till the end of time

And you'll stand atop the gate

Laying waste in a path recited

Fighting force won't avenge the guided black wing

Oh, electric might poses fright inside me

Seeing light at the end of sight reminds me

    I've passed away

  • I used to put this record on and sing the whole thing straight through at least a couple times a week as practice back when I was a teenager. What a vocal workout. Thanks for posting.

  • Queensryche is like a mix of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest! FUCKING AWESOME!

  • no i'd say maiden with pink floyd if anything. theyre unique tho.

  • I agree with you. If you're looking for a band with a mix of Maiden and Floyd, Queensryche is it!

  • You just named three of my favorite bands. But, Floyd is far superior.

  • i am sorry, but I have to disagree with all of you guys. And I think the guys in QRyche would also. Yes they were influenced by those who preceded them, but they are who they are: Queensryche. You might copy them, you might emmulate them. But there is only one original Queensryche. Just as there is only one Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and one Pink Floyd.

  • @mettall1981 i tottaly agreee!!!!!!!

  • @mettall1981

you are ABSOLUTELY correct bro! They are " their own band", and are completely original. There will never be another band like them. BECAUSE they are original.

  • Comment removed

  • No there not there uniqe

  • with a touch of Pink Floyd... slight but it is there.

In fact Michael Kamen had been producer to Judas Priest and Pink Floyd before producing THE WARNING

  • Comment removed

  • awsome!! I get to comment first. I love this song, it has sort of an Iron Maiden/Dio feel to it. When I first heard it, I thought maybe it was an Iron maiden or dio cover tune. But I found out later it was queensryche.
