The goal posts keep moving, if you need to take 6 men, need a nuclear rocket, need to launch at least 7 x 130 metric ton heavy lift rockets and have to do a long stay 900 day mission it's not going to happen until the 22nd century.

However I would like to add two more technologies to that closing list of technologies that need to be developed inorder to go to mars or space travel in general. 1, Ending Aging or giving humans a greatly increased healthy lifespan. 2, Learning how to successfully cryogenic or suspended animate a person & revive without causing any damage.

In case you havnt noticed some mass extinction event happens on this planet on a pretty accurate schedule. If we dont kill ourselves and destroy earth something will come along and do it. We will have to leave earth if our race is to see long term survival.
