  • The biggest of grass?

  • I love this bird...in my language it's called 'Gluhar' " which is from the word 'deaf'. The sounds it makes kind of seem like the sounds of a deaf person/animal IMHO....lol....I love you Glunhar'

  • tetreb

  • that birds sounds like someone is dropping skittles into a glass

  • hårrå

  • I love David Attenborough.

  • There was no force in David's kick, he understandly didn't want the bird getting too close when he was vunerable and it could go for the face. All he did was gently push it away, but not with enough force to hurt it.

Gotta love Sir David, jumping right into it and getting involved with nature rather then narrating from the sidelines.

  • i can cook it

  • 7 people lost a chicken fight with a capercaillie

  • @seekfear1 and one dick begs for thumbs...

  • I don't know but I think Attenborough accidently kicked the Capercaillie when it attacked him :( He didn't mean to I don't think. Attenbrough is really someone to look up to if you like animals. At least he has a sense of humour!

  • @ErnieCosmo

Just drove away one from my porch :|

  • are they good eating?

  • @SimilkameenSlayer1 Acually yes! so much so that they very neerly went extinct in scotland. The breeding stock was so depleted that more had to be brought in from mainland europe.

  • tut, typical scot!

  • they used to wander about all over the place here - like loads of other native uk species - until building developments, land-grabbing, wrong ways of gardening and keeping parks, all contributed to the destruction of their homes.

landscaping is a big problem, cause in public and also private areas of green, they completely ruin the natural way the plants and grasses grow.

they'd gone extinct from the area i live in, before i was born here.

  • @randomlaughingman They lived here in Denmark to on the heath but were extinct 30 or 40 years ago.

  • Bird 1 David 0

  • there funny and bizarre.

  • "Get offa my turf, punk!"

"Let's see you come over here and say that!"

    "Where's the women at?"

  • We have these birds in Germany, too. They´re funny with their noises.

  • What is the number of capercaillie up in Scotland at the moment?

  • @Velasca

not brilliant, careful forest planning and education is needed to secure their future

  • der uhrhahn

    wunderschön

  • Capercailles are awesome birds. It was funny when the male was trying to chase away that person.

  • Well done to the RSPB & the other organizations for their hard work in keeping the Capercaillie population afloat in Scotland.

  • i couldnt stop laughing

  • AMERICANS EAT THIS RYT??..

  • They are delicious. Capers are quite popular hunting game in the nordic countries.

  • I think capercaillies are the most beautiful birds in the whole world. Hunting is allowed only in theautumn in Finland, and they are very tender. That kind of acting happens only in the spring. Im sorry for my writing skills :D

  • lol cocks fight

  • heeeja boy 100 al mas grande

  • I feel sorry for the loser for being "universally rejected." lol

  • the bird aimed for Sir David's balls. LOL.

  • If you liked that click you need to look up the bushmen of the Kalahari. Their speech has neat clicks in it.

  • He sounds like a roulette wheel with the ball just being dropped on it. :0

  • That was great when it knocked Sir David on his rear! Ha!

  • ....you know, the soundtrack to the Famous Grouse adverts make so much more sense after listening to the Capercaillie :D

  • LOL....no wonder they became extinct in Scotland. They probably charge hunters with guns, easier than shooting a fish in a barrel. Charged by a grouse....haha

  • I want one of those as my pet. I'd train him to attack all of my enemies!

  • I wanna make that clicky noise my ringtone.

  • good

  • Bet it's delicious.

  • wow, that clicky noiase is awesome!

  • look how goddamn tough that bird is, taking on David!!

    woo Turkey go!

  • Its not a turkey, its the largest of the grouse family.

  • Such fun birds :D

  • They look like lil tiny turkeys ^.^

  • I... am afraid of birds...

Watching this is somewhat of a torture, but guided by David Attenburough makes me confident!

Especially because he laughs and stands in front of him!!!! I would be crapping my pants and running!

  • very cool birds, love them <3

  • lol this makes it an easy hunt and it looks tasty

  • ... ehm... VERY tasty!!

  • You can't hunt them during the breeding season when this is filmed. Only in the autumn months, and at that time they are extremelly shy. And they taste delicious :)

  • I absolutely ADORE Capercaillies! They'd look so cute on the label of a Scotch Bottle! :D

  • This video is awesome

  • They look like lil' turkeys ^.^

I wonder if they are related.

  • I know how the dude at the end feels, but someone has to sort you ladies out...

  • the things men will do to get a chick

have you noticed, ALL male birds need to perform in someway, and the females do all the choosing.

and they say there is no God, its all for God's amusement haha

  • Then the chicks stay at home and sit on the eggs forever. hmm...

  • biggest capercaillies in finland are 6kg

  • looool the bird's sound is very funny :p

  • attenborough should have fought that bird and stolen his mates, teach that bird a lesson in manners

  • Hahaha, tou'che.

  • I really admire Attenborough. A good sense of humor and willing to get into a little scrape just to show us the wonders of the natural world.

  • i think their a litle blit bigger in norway

  • Watch out David- he's coming for you!

  • sexual dimorphism is so amazing between birds

  • Auerhahn is the german term for these animals.
