@jstassis hey... thanks for that, I'm glad that it was a blessing to you. It's a special place up there in Cape Cod. I've been out on a kayak less that 30 feet away from a baby hump back whale and had huge sunfish swim under me for almost a half an hour. I've been out in the water in a kayak during a hurricane and been in the middle of huge blitzes with no one else in sight. Very special blessings from God!

@iceraider97 Thanks iceraider... believe it or not we were using plastic sluggos (sand eel color). We use fresh sand eels sometimes but the crabs (or something) eat them up so we use an imitation sand eel as BAIT that actually catches big stripers (blows my mind). I caught a 42" off my kayak the next year on a 4" Grabbers Minnow. Took me 10 minutes just to get it close enough to see it.

@iceraider97 I hear there's still some blues being taken off the beaches and stripers are being taken at night on plugs. The beginning of October is usually a good time to catch fish up there. You might need to sling some metal lures if the wind gets blowin'. I like the Crippled Minnows and Kastmasters with a bucktail myself... 2-4 oz. depending on the wind. But if they're right up on the beaches you can get 'em on bombers and poppers!

hey yankeeboy... we had a blast and yes all the guys got beat by the one woman... and her biggest fish was a 1/2 inch shy of 40" and weighed 20 pounds. But we got her back this year... Tony caught a 41"-20 pounder and I caught a 43"-24 pounder!!!

I have tried to fish around Boston once or twice every year with my now 8 yrs old son but never a catch so far. And my son is losing faith in me. Please guide me to a catch, Scott. Exactly where in Cape Cod did you go with what kinda tackles and equipments and what to do to catch the bass like you did. I have little knowledge about fishing.

i know how you feel brother... we went through the same dilemma the first couple of years we went up there. very frustrating. if you have a four wheel drive truck you can get access to drive on some of the beaches like coast guard beach and race point beach. if you don't have a truck you can get walking access to good beaches at head of the meadow, herring cove, ballston beach and longnook. sand eels and long casting surf rods help. watch out for the seals though, they like to steal your fish!

sure can... are you flying or driving? because they won't let you drive on the beaches with a rental truck. there's a couple places you can go without driving on the beaches but it's very hit and miss anymore... don't know if it's because of all the seals or what. i'll email you all the info you'll need! if you catch fish or not, you can't beat the scenery and the seafood in the area.

Hello, I live in sandwich and have pretty good luck at the sandwich marina, you can drop your line in right at the opening to the cape cod canal or go to the jedi directly accross the other side of the canal. You gotta go in the fall right around mid september. hope this helps

i've heard a lot of good things about the canal and bought some steamers from a seafood store towards the mouth of the canal. the tide was rippin' pretty quick. i've always wanted to fish the canal but didn't know where to go. i hear night time's the time to go. thanks for the tip, i might take a couple casts on the way up in a couple weeks.
