New to MTG, but are altered cards legal for play, or more of a collecting thing?

@CodyMc00 Altered cards are legal to play, but as of about 6 months ago (maybe 12), higher level REL tournies, Judges can ask that alterations don't exceed the cardframe and/or cover text/title/casting cost.  But that's for say, a SCG 5k event. At a 20 man tourney, they are fine (as well as casual EDH decks and so forth)

I stumbled across your vid here. Do you know how one can contact the artist who painted the Mazinger "Darksteel Colossus" at 2:16 ? I'd be interested, but I wouldn't know where to begin on MTG Salvation to look for the original post.

The artist is a woman named Nerea, and at mtgsalvation they have a forum for altered art, and if you post in there "how can I contact Nerea to do some custom stuff", someone there could point you in the right direction. Cardkitty, Yawg07, and BigUp probably know. Nerea is european, I believe.
