  • The piano chords are nicked from Wonderwall the film. Wonderwall Music first LP on Apple.

Or could George have nicked them from Fripp?

  • aghhh!! That guitar solo(ing)!! 'especially the last 10 seconds or so. I mean, what can be said..other than..ABANDON ARTTTTTttttt!!!!!!!!........zzzzzzzzZZZzzz. A Possible Scenario: When Bobby F initially bought his FuzzTone Guitar Effect Box/Gizmo..little did he know that on the day of Manufacture of 'said' Fuzz/Gizmo..the 1-10 Set Dial/Thingie...For "Setting Fuzz"..Was Replaced!!..Accidentally Mayhap... w/ a 10-1 Set Dial/Thingie. Oh Bobbie! We all know that you ment 1 (or 2). DingDong

  • I thought the opening pub scene came from Danger Man. Still, your choice of video and the song seem to go together amazingly well! Came to GG&F in reverse order, having been directed to King Crimson first (God, forty years ago!).

  • DOH!! sorry elviss you hound dog :) but both 71 and 74 both had 3 albums recorded in thouse two years, thats my mix up . :)

  • yes this riff became THE LETTER, of the 1974 record isands by kc. :)

  • @wyld1975 You're right, Good ear! Although The Letters is from 1971. :)

  • you're got to admire Mr. McGoohan, by 2:13 I would have been spewing like a sick dog.

  • i loved the prisoner and the end when the village took off as a spsceship

  • THATS NOT FRIPP YOU GOON !

  • Woah, 'The Letters', except not on cellos and saxes. A lot cheerier, as well.

  • @kevin4peace check "Epitaph" for a live version by the 1969 lineup

  • great combo! wonder if mcgoohan was hip to gg&f.

  • @chaspagano I wouldn't be suprised if he was.

I was just thinking if the Avengers(Patrick Macnee and Diana Rigg) were hip to Soft Machine.

    Because

I think Soft Machine would make a perfect fit to compose and do The Avengers Theme

  • This song is brilliant

  • Yes McGoohan turned down the role of James Bond because of all the promiscuity in it. That's why he went on to make the far superior and more realistic secret agent programme Danger Man- the greatest TV secret agent programme of all time.

  • flipa con el fripp!

  • fantastico!

  • This much better than some of the other ggf material.

  • Nice work!

  • GREAT SONG! GILES GILES FRIPP. ONE OF THE BEST ENSEMBLES OF THE UNIVERSE!

  • LOve this Video and Patric Mc Goohan. Patric was choosen to be the first James Bond actor but he didn´t the job. And Sean Connery later became famous.

  • @Wm050555 McGoohan was offered the role twice, the second being after Connery wanted out. He was also the only actor that Orson Welles said intimidated him. No one else could take the stage away from Welles, only that Irish man... before McGoohan got into film or television...

  • Island is the one album I've never heard, but I do love the Giles, Giles & Fripp material!

  • I hadn't heard this song before but recognised the melody from the King Crimson album "Islands", and the song from it, "The Letters:

    "With quill and silver knife

    She carved a poison pen

    Wrote to her lovers wife:

Your husbands seed has fed my flesh

A much darker version of the song than here.

Re The Prisoner, this is my favourite episode, "The Girl Who Was Death".

He drives a Lotus Elan(?) and she a fabulous E-Type Jag.

He goes back and drinks to make him puke up the poison I think.

  • What?? This song is the one from island?? I've never noticed! Thanks! I'll look into it right away! :D

  • @yoochoobb I recognised the song from islands,aswell...and the solo guitar reminds the santana solo guitar on black magic woman

  • The vocal harmonies in this song are just amazing! Actually all the way up to the level Brian Wilson did and that says a little..

  • This is the greatest thing ever!

  • 2:52 Doctor House???

  • Nice pairing! Bravo!

  • fripps light years ahead of everyone

  • Great idea, wonderfully realized! Thanks for creating and posting this.

  • "You've been to the butcher and bakers, let's try the candlestick makers"

  • @kronoscorvinus the actual names on the signs came from crew members i believe and lets not forget john drake who appeared in the opening scene.
