Ahh, Mud Club at Busbys, Charing Cross road friday nights 1988, bandana's, converse boots, stripey pirate style shirts. Phil Salon on the door spaying my mates Tshirt with bright colour paint because he said he looked too plain. Best days ever.
A cornerstone of House music. Literally, one of the building blocks. Most roads in House lead to this song. And it still sounds great after all these years. It's timeless, and puts so many other wannabes to shame. Just brilliant!
I don't believe this video does not have more views. This was one of the staple tracks that was played back in the day. It was always present in one form or the other. Often times, the DJ would do a remix it or fade it in and out periodically.
This came out during my junior year in HS. I remember almost every beat, break, siren and sample over 20 years later, but don't ask me about a single thing I learned that year :) Probably cause I was thinking about the track and the moves I would do, during Physics class!
@NiGaThE the jungle bros made hip-hop, they didn't know anything about house, but wanted to get into the hip-house craze that was exploding from Chi-town all across major metropolitan cities (new york, san francisco, LA) so they called in a young producer by the name of Todd Terry (Royal House) and the rest is history!!
Check them snares out....I was listening to this on my mp3 while i was queing in Morrisons the other day...lol.. i had to stop myself from dancin around so i didnt look like a twat....lol...This was 1 intense tune man..Rave on!....Wooooo Wooooo...Too Strong!!!!
In the beginning there was Jack. And Jack had a groove. And from this groove came The Groove of ALL grooves. And one day while viciously throwing down on his box, Jack bodly declared "LET THERE BE HOUSE!" Then Jack played THIS song and that was the moment House Music was born.
This song captures the very essence that is House Music. Still to this day 20 years later one of the finest examples of the genre found anywhere.
excactly what House Music means also to me. this record as u said, and the Heouse Music " exploded" in European clubs. also in France for information ;-)
Apologies for the cut n paste from another same track I posted for.... but it allows me to add my appreciation for the clean stereo approach - - and what track does the 'House Shut' sample come from??
this is killing me by the way coz none of you have posted a coupla serious classics that i never found the bloody name of and i search in vain - - you are all doin' a great job n keep up the good work... ;)
The riff on this made it a bastion for 'House Music' as it was brought into the mainstream club scene with all the drugs and mayhem that everyone wanted to be synonymous with...
Perfectly constructed for this purpose and without doubt ruled as top queen bee for a goooood few months!!
It brought power to the raver's to be honest, from what I can think of as perhaps an analogy is as being a depiction of strength and identity...
Again I have to join the ranks of, this was not Acid music
This remembers me the night of February 19, 1991 when The Jungle Brothers still under the IDLERS Label performed at the legendary Roseland and that night there was pandemonium in the streets of midtown Manhattan, there were lines for blocks and blocks, no guess list, first comes first serves, the night when Roseland packed an amazing 4000 people inside, around the club people gathered to make a final intent, no luck whatsoever. Just living the moment, I loved what I did and music is in my veins.
we used to get dancing to this, clear the floor here i go again. My daughter likes this
