Hi there! if you like artists like Nick Cave, Tindersticks, Leonard Cohen and others, come and check my five new songs. I hope you like it! Thank you so much
This is the theme tune to every unforgettable night you've ever had. You never know who or what the night might bring, however wild, weird, incendiary, beautiful, dangerous or life-changing.
Fucking hell, that's good. Inspired choice (not to mention spawny) to get Polly on backing vocals. And yeah, I also need to start smoking (again) when listening to this.
Fucking hell, that's good. Inspired choice (not to mention spawny) to get Polly on backing vocals. And yeah, I also need to start smoking (again) when listening to this.
@vectorialalo It's in Asheville, NC; called the Corner Pocket. Trust me, you will play the best game of pool in your life with this song blaring. Come on over, I'll buy the first round. They also have all of Soulsavers and three Eleven albums. Best jukebox ever.
@Doyalsan Ok mec, when you come to Paris we can go to a bar here where the Owner puts on his vinyl collection including Sabbath, Led Zep, Motorhead, etc
Love Motorhead (Zep and Sabb too, of course) and would love to be in Paris at least once. I'll be in Germany in July, so maybe it will happen. Also, what is a "mec?"
@Doyalsan lol, sorry they say "mec" instead of "man" here, like "ok man", see? and "pote" for "friend", "meuf" for "femme" (woman backwards) etc, all sort of things. The French language is contaminating my english O_o
This song soounds like rock and roll redemption. I have loved it for five years give or take. Blackbyrd Myoozik, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Peace and Love to the world. Keep Art Alive!
@thickerpickerupper I am assuming that you are referring to jim morrison. and i see where you are coming from. but i would call mark a modern day splice of johnny cash and tom waits. but despite and regardless of any comparisons, mark lanegan is just(and has been) so necessary in this day and age. god bless him.
It doesn't matter where, there will always be some fucked up teenagers talking about the "spirit of grunge". Grunge is not a musical style, MTV created that shit. I bet nobody here can say something in common between Alice In Chains and Nirvana. It was a very nice city, in a very apropiate time. Youg people were bored, sometimes depressed. Nice bands appeared. There's no magic about that. There's no spirit. Deal with that, enjoy the music and stop talking about Nirvana in a Mark Lanegan video.
@JpMicheletti Grunge IS a musical genre, the director of Sub Pop came up with it. And AiC was mostly Alt metal but still i can imagine many of their songs could just as well been sung by Kurt. And other than that the grunge bands were pretty similar, you can compare Nirvanas first album with Green River, pretty similar, and Mudhoney and nirvana too, and Soundgarden was absolutly the same genre, just a little heavier, all of those bands are similar if you compare to how rock sounded in the 1980's
we all now what is about this song for those who we live in big cities, you feel lonely, lot of people, almost no morality, strange places you would never imagine... great video and song, from barcelona
ALSO, Grunge didn't finish in 1994. Pearl Jam, Melvins, and Mudhoney are still active today. It just faded from the spotlight. Grunge's true fans know the truth, you're just like the ignorant fucks that think Nirvana pioneered the scene. Nirvana ripped half the bands off and even they acknowledged it. Kurt looked up to Buzz Osborne, Mark Lanegan, Chris Cornell, Mark Arm, Steve Turner, and all of those guys.
Don't fucking pull the "I know my shit" thing wiith me when you clearly don't.
Dude, Kurt Cobain is not the master of Grunge. Not even fucking close. He's like Grunge's little brother, learn up on your history.
Mark Lanegan is one of the greatest and most versitile vocalists ever - and Grunge provided us with so many pure and talented souls. We're all lucky Mark wasn't one of the tragic losses of Grunge, what with all of his hard drug use back in those days.
I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT YOU DO LIKE YOU HAVE ANY IDEA OF MUSICBUISNES!! 95% OF THE PEOPLE DON'T KNOW WHO MARK LANEGAN IS...
BUT KURT COBAIN IS WELL KNOWN, ALSO FROM PEOPLE WHO DOSEN'T LIKE THIS KIND OF MUSIC. AND WHY THE WHOLE GRUNGE SCENE WAS FINISHED BECAUSE IN 1994???? KURT COBAIN IS THE MASTER OF GRUNGE, AND I LAUGH IF YOU REALLY THINK SOMEONE ELSE HAD THIS INFLUENCE IN EARLY 90IS!!!!
YOU BETTER GET SOMEW REAL BOOKS (OR THE MOVIE HYPE (I THINK THEY NOT EVEN SPEAK FROM MARK
I've seen Hype! over 20 times, and I read Grunge is Dead twice. Kurt was regarded from everybody from the Grunge scene as "the little brother" of Grunge music. Mark Arm of Mudhoney and Green River, Jack Endino - the guy who produced the majority of Grunge Music - Bruce Pavitt, the guy responsible for all of the bands getting record deals with Sub Pop, Jon Poneman - his "sidekick" of sorts, Soundgarden as a whole...all are more influential.
Nirvana was not only influenced by Mark Arm's projects, but he had his haircut and Steve Turner (Mudhoney and Green River's guitarist)'s guitar. Kurt only had a major influence on the mainstream, and Grunge had almost nothing to do with the mainstream. Kurt is who the people who don't know anything about Grunge say is the "Master of Grunge". Without The Melvins, Soundgarden, Mudhoney, Scratch Acid, and all of the bands from the early 80s...there would be NO Nirvana or Kurt Cobain.
Sure, nirvana wouldn't be the same without Bands like mudhoney, Buthole Surfer, Melvins etc.
First I don't like to say Kurt was the Mmaster of Grunge. but sure he was not the little brother of grunge. He brought the underground music grunge (other people called it "New Wave", others like Kurt "Punk-Rock"), and he was from 1992 - 1994 the spokeman of the youth (Generation X), and believe me, I know enough about the Seattle Scene, I was grow up with Mudhoney, Green River, L7,
@LobotomyMadeEasy and when you go once to a concert from alice in chains, chris corwell or all this other so called grunge bands, you'll disapointed!I was!!! there is still good grunge music, but new bands.here in switzerland we got NAVEL, they are great and still got the spirit of grunge.
and if you are honest, you must say that Kkurt cobain was unique and in his way a genius with a voice that sounds like toxic glue, and no other band in the 80is and 90is had sush a good singer/songwriter!
Alice in Chains and Soundgarden STILL put on better shows than Nirvana ever did! Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden are the other 3 hugely famous Grunge bands. Nirvana wasn't the only one, and if you belittle all the other ones like that - you're not a fan of Grunge. You're just a fan of Nirvana. That's fine, but don't EVER call yourself a Grunge fan if you disrespect all of the other bands.
I never told NIRVANA was the only one, but for me (my taste of music) Kurt was a real artist, not just a singer/songwriter.
But I understand that other people like other bands more. and for me nobody can reach at Kurt's talent and his voice. but I know you see it different. and by the way, I don't like only Nirvana, the other "Seattle bands" had also very good music...
And no, he's not the best singer or songwriter of the 90s. Chris Cornell has a fucking 4 octave vocal range, Layne Staley of Alice in Chains has one of the greatest voices of all time, Eddie Vedder has a better voice, and so does Mark Lanegan. And Kurt's lyrics completely pale in comparison to Eddie Vedder's, Mark Lanegan's, Layne Staley's, Chris Cornell's, and a ton of other Grunge acts.
Kurt wasn't unique, his entire act was based on OTHER Grunge musicians.
Oh, shut the fuck up, ya dumb dildo. "A fucking 4 octave vocal range?" Who gives a fucking flying turd in hell? Ya might as well be talkin' 'bout motherfucking Def Leppard, ya dumbass buttfuck...
Mark Lanegan's Bubblegum is one of the most underated albums ever.Simply great especially that song (although it's difficult to say which one's best..) !! Love it...
Lanegan has to be the most under-rated vocalist of our time. Its only right that he plays with modern gods like Homme, Grohl and, hopefully Jones. Rock on bro.
saw him too..in cologne last tuesday with the soulsavers and they also played this great song. Lanegan really is a true musician and one of the best vocalists these days!
you guys will love Soulsavers. i just got turned onto them. There new album, Broken, is awesome and is available on iTunes. not sure if there's gonna be a physical release but check it out
So far i can remember, they did a concert at the Campus Theatre of the University Magdeburg. It's a small stage, but it was a famous place for live music back in the days.
The video was shot in Magdeburg, Germany. It shows the train station and the Hasselbach Platz in the historic city center of Magdeburg. The pool table is at the Stern Bar. By the way ... awesome song and fantastic video about my home town.
It looks like a great city!I knew MD!But some places looks like Berlin Ostbahnof...Did Mark had an concert in Magdeburg?and where there? There are not so many clubs isent it?

So far i can remember, they did a concert at the Campus Theatre of the University Magdeburg. It's a small stage, but it was a famous place for live music back in the days.

The video was shot in Magdeburg, Germany. It shows the train station and the Hasselbach Platz in the historic city center of Magdeburg. The pool table is at the Stern Bar. By the way ... awesome song and fantastic video about my home town.
