I am new to Maya and don't know how to get the grid to show perpendicular to the edited plane for the purpose of bending down the edges.
I used z brush to create a precise half pipe almost exactly like the one used for this example. Using UV mapper gives the same UVs as the ones the example achieves though altering them. However, after transferring my tool to Maya and loading it to UDK the model is invisible. I would like an answer for this problem as well.
@CptWaulty I dunno about the UDK problem, but if you go into side or front view (hold spacebar and drag from the big Maya square in the middle to select view) the grid should appear there whichever way you look
im not sure what im watching, are we creating something here? oh well

why not just create a cube / add division and delete the bottom faces?

@noobdles Because this way, the UV Mapping is already done for you, and laid out pretty much exactly how we want them.
