UMAP was erected in 1965 when El Che wasn't even in Cuba, he was in the Congo, and then disappeared from public view and was presumed dead until his 1967 Bolivian execution. I support gay rights strongly and am appalled at the institutions Castro allowed under his regime but you must understand that these two men had very different ideas after Batista's fall.
And also Santa Clara was the camp I was referring to in my previous post: "I have yet to find a single credible source pointing to a case where Che executed 'an innocent'. The Cuban Rebellion was lead by middle class students, not the poor, who wanted restoration of Cuba's 1940 democratic constitution, not because they were upset with capitalism. Had the 1957 storming of the Presidental Palace by the students been succesful Cuba would be a very differnt place today.

I know people who have suffered under the oppression of the communist Castro regime. Castro set Che up to be killed because he had become too murderous even for Castro. Then Che was martyred by the communist propaganda machine. He did nothing to qualify him to martyrdom........ he was a murderer. Batista was bad enough but that doesn't justify Che.

UMAP was erected in 1965 when El Che wasn't even in Cuba, he was in the Congo, and then disappeared from public view and was presumed dead until his 1967 Bolivian execution. I support gay rights strongly and am appalled at the institutions Castro allowed under his regime but you must understand that these two men had very different ideas after Batista's fall.

The Cuban Rebellion was lead by middle class students, not the poor, who wanted restoration of Cuba's 1940 democratic constitution, not because they were upset with capitalism. Had the 1957 storming of the Presidental Palace by the students been succesful Cuba would be a very differnt place today.

The last thing any one wants is to be once again conquered and have what little of your culture remains taken away from you, again. Che had money and educated. He had no reason to put himself on the line yet chose to give his life to what he believed in, because he loved his people.

Dude, I'm doing a project and I've read up alot on him. I have to choose one side and at first I thought he was good. But after reading "Reliable" sources and watching a very good documentary he is a cold blooded murderer. He had the right idea at first but when he met Castro he became corrupt.
