Did u nail romex on it's edge? You need to read the latest NEC and take your CA Certification. Ur the reason that we have to be certified!!! Just because you passed your C-10 on the eleventh try, doesn't make you a teaching authority. Stop making crappy videos, whiner!!!
@heighbabe40 Sorry you feel this way towards others. Actually I have a dual licence,
98 % first time.Perhaps if you talked constructively, together we could help those people who have a little less experience. Could you show us some of your work so we can see how to be perfect in our trade.
Ur technique sucks...u leave wires too short!!! U probably don't pull permits on most of your jobs...have you read the latest edition of the NEC? U should stop posting videos until you can show the right way of terminating wires...
@heighbabe40 terminating? how do you do that with out a device... how short is to short of wires? do you know? do what this dumb ass said, about the size of your stripers.OK.. or use your cock.. remmber 6 inch to back of box ..lol
you cut your wires awfully short! we try to keep them about the length of a pair of strippers from the face of the box, just in case someone has to go in there and mess around in the future. i also think there's a certain length you have to leave in the Canadian code but i'm not sure.
what kind of tool belt is that sparky.lol if you run a 14/3 between both sw then you can have a hot an swleg in one box. bring the swleg back from dead end side of 3 way an tie that to load or light swleg. can save time and wire.. did you know that one sparky
@sparkyUonline dont get them offten but I love those 'easy days' yea good idea on schematics i just know of 2 ways but someone told me there is 4 diff ways to do a 3way....
how many outlet, switchboxes ,cans etc. should two guys rough in per day on average when wiring new homes.ive been doing more new houses not really my cup of tea but why not.i need to gauge my guys alittle closer.
what would you expect out of apprentice two guys
Then journey two guys roughing in de vice boxes, cans per day I have decent guys
@albduke1 Apprentice vs journeymen on cans should be the same. It really comes down to the speed and motivation of a person.I would think to hang and wire a can-maybe 10min each depending on where the cans are mounted.
routing cable in attic as to avoid people stepping on cable in attic
do you route cable at closer to eves,or run a board up inside attic on top of joices nail nm to side of board to avoid stepping on ,mashing nm when crawling etc. in attic.in other woeds what do u concider to avoid subject to damage when routing nm in attic,or do you just route cable shortest distance .going whatever route you figure works the best
@albduke1 I have spent a lot of time in attics that have a romex web, so I do my best to make sure that I run the romex in such a way that it avoids trip and damage hazards.
I always heard that the push-in connectors on a receptacle were not as safe to use as the screws. So I am wondering why are they coming out with more push-in's now and are they dangerous. I actually never liked wirenuts; I always thought a more secure connection could be made if there were some type of screw terminal strip in the back of the box. Also, I just bought some can lights that have aluminum wire;what's the best way to connect to 12-2 copper? Thanks.
@SaintWilliamIII Today I replaced a bathroom plug that had those push in connectors. To my surprise the push in connections had oxidized so much (green) that the wires fell out when I pulled on the plug (all copper, no Al) . Presumably with the high humidity of the bathroom there was accelerated oxidation. I took the extra time to use the screws for the new plug.
@spelunkerd I actually wired the first house I built by using the push-in receptacle terminals, then I heard they were bad, so I switched to using the screws.
@Sine1040 I have seen both homes and commercial builds that use the push on exclusively. The choice to reuse is up to the installer,I have tosed tons of wire nuts away because the didn't make good connections.

How do you follow code when running nm on top of joists, also running homeruns
how do you lay it out in your head?

@albduke1 I draw out the necessary branch circuits before starting. Not sure of what you mean about following code on top of joists.

wouldnt it be easy to cut the insulation by stripping those wires with a box cutter?
narcoti 2 months ago
@narcoti You need to use cation not to nick the wires so I use strippers.

@SaintWilliamIII I am seeing more and more of these vs wire nuts.
sparkyUonline 2 months ago
@SaintWilliamIII I am sure millions of homes are wired with the quick connect method. If installed correctly they should work fine.
Are you sure the can wires are aluminum?
sparkyUonline 2 months ago
Hi Spark, is it allowed to do the complete wiring with push-on connectors ?
Here in the Netherlands whole installations are done with push-on ( the wago brand is pretty big here ) and wire nuts are hardly ever used anymore.
However I don't like to re-use them, When I have to redo a connection I use a new connector.
