There was a small proportion of fakery for tv audience entertainment values, such as that little girl singing and fireworks. However the experience itself was worthwhile since my friend went there and had a blast. Don't be so confident that London will be any safer. I copied the Beijing opening ceremony onto a dvd and watched it again about three weeks ago. At the time of the Games I thought it was brilliant, but that was probably due to the expectation factor. In the cold light of 3 years later I could not believe how boring it was; absolute tosh. London ,with Danny Boyle in charge, will be light years in advance of that rubbish.
I can't find the video but a year or two ago I heard that engineers had "un-official" plans to place explosives in the stadiums columns; maybe to allow for a less costly demolishing should they ever decide to make space for something else. If anyone has heard more about this story, I would really like to know more. There are rumours that the twin-towers collapsed so easily because of this building philosophy. @ervin920 You can't begin to compare the Beijing and London Games. The Chinese invested billions of State money into Beijing while London is for the most part privately funded during a global recession.
The London Games will cost about a third of the Beijing Games but the spectators won't be bussed in by their thousands and told to wave plastic flags and smile at the TV cameras under threat of being locked up. I don't think have a word for "spontaneity."

Whatever people may think about the Games and the expense involved, it should be remembered that this area of London was bombed to buggery by Hitler and it had been left to rot ever since. I read somewhere that the net shortfall after receipt of asset sales , TV rights,ticket sales,sponsorships and merchandising would be around £3bn. A lot of money certainly, but nothing would have happened if London had not been given the Games. It could turn out to be quite cheap in the long run.

If you've been reading the news in the UK, you should be well aware of the looters who 70% of them had criminal records previously but was set free due to their flawed eviction system. It like a chain of attempted murder cases and when one dies, then the real eviction begins. There was a small proportion of fakery for tv audience entertainment values, such as that little girl singing and fireworks. However the experience itself was worthwhile since my friend went there and had a blast. Don't be so confident that London will be any safer. You know the riots, chavs and the lack of police efficiency in the UK. They already made an error with the tickets and the show haven't even started.

BEIJING 2008 OLYMPIC STADIUM IS THE BEST DESIGN!.....it looks more like the ARCHITECTURE that we should pushing for the future designs...design should not go back in time.....therefore the 2012 olympic stadium looks old fashioned and looks like something that some architect drawn at the last minute.....2012 stadium is just ugly and boring looking!

I copied the Beijing opening ceremony onto a dvd and watched it again about three weeks ago. At the time of the Games I thought it was brilliant, but that was probably due to the expectation factor. In the cold light of 3 years later I could not believe how boring it was; absolute tosh. London ,with Danny Boyle in charge, will be light years in advance of that rubbish.

I can't find the video but a year or two ago I heard that engineers had "un-official" plans to place explosives in the stadiums columns; maybe to allow for a less costly demolishing should they ever decide to make space for something else. If anyone has heard more about this story, I would really like to know more. There are rumours that the twin-towers collapsed so easily because of this building philosophy. @ervin920 You can't begin to compare the Beijing and London Games. The Chinese invested billions of State money into Beijing while London is for the most part privately funded during a global recession.
The London Games will cost about a third of the Beijing Games but the spectators won't be bussed in by their thousands and told to wave plastic flags and smile at the TV cameras under threat of being locked up. I don't think have a word for "spontaneity."

Whatever people may think about the Games and the expense involved, it should be remembered that this area of London was bombed to buggery by Hitler and it had been left to rot ever since. I read somewhere that the net shortfall after receipt of asset sales , TV rights,ticket sales,sponsorships and merchandising would be around £3bn. A lot of money certainly, but nothing would have happened if London had not been given the Games. It could turn out to be quite cheap in the long run.
