@BRANDTzilla I never played the Dreamcast version (if one day I get one, this is the first game i'm thinking about), but the Sonic sculpture is probably my best memory from the arcade version. Anyway I never won a race, nor managed to the end before the time limit either.
I would be really happy if they ported Daytona USA onto the Xbox 360 or PS3 ore even both. It still is really popular today and maybe forever in the future.
This is the DC version which is basically a remake of the first one, I think it included tracks from Championship Circuit Edition which came out on the Saturn. This wasn't actually done by SEGA, It was done by Genki. It takes a bit of time to get into the controls and it makes up for the sluggish Saturn version.
If you handle the Dreamcast's analogue stick with precision and be gentle with it, you can be a real nice driver, just combine the handling with your basic game engine physics notion and with the car that best suits you. I ALWAYS used the unicorn, because it was the fastest, although the hardest to control. Believe me, if you manage to have a rocket-start with this car and not lose the control, probably you'll probaly win with more than 30s of difference. WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP IN 1st TO UNLOCK IT
WOW ! exelent driving there, it almost looks like youre playing with a steering wheel ! 5/5 for your driving skills, and showing this masterpiece. wish they would do a psn and xboxlive version from this still exelent game !
I alway thought, even from the original it should be black and yellow. Why> Because hornets are black and yellow! It should not have been red and blue in the forst one either.
This game gets a lot of criticism because the analog sensitivity is set too high by default. However, you can easily adjust it and save the new setting to VMU:
Options > Player 1/2 Controller Setting > Analog Calibration > Steering. Reduce Sensitivity to either zero (fully black bar; beginners) or one (mostly black bar with one increment of red; everyone else).
Daytona USA needs to be revived for next-gen consumption. Hell yeah-- a good ol' Havok engine revamp and EVERYTHING! SEGA! WHERE YOU AT TO HEAR ME OUT ON THIS?!!
yeah it was made "in the essence of" "recreate the feeling of" kinda like american pro trucker ect japans facination of american racing. Super GT was the same way converting roads for fantasy gt races ect.

you think so..? you think 17 sec on the easiest
track is fucking great !?? in the hornet car you could easly get a 16 time. if you use the slipstream . and if your not getting 17 sec evrytime. there is nothing fucking great about the total time in 16 laps...! but i love daytona and im thankful 4 daytona on tha youtube..
um the name "daytona usa" is not a trademark of EA or NASCAR. they can make as many DAYTONA "stock car racing" games as they want there are no offical names in the game. if the city of daytona wants to try to open some kinda suit they could waste there time.. but what do they care.
The PC got 2 versions of Daytona USA: the normal one in 1996 (a direct Saturn conversion, with software rendering only) and the Deluxe one in 1997, with software and Direct3D rendering (the software rendering is a direct Saturn conversion, the Direct3D rendering looks much better than the Saturn).
Moreover, you can emulate the original arcade game with the Model 2 emulator and the Dreamcast version with nullDC.
Pressing B stops/starts the slot machine although you dont get anything for Three Sevens nor for Three Bars, your hear a sound mind. You can also stop/start the slot machine on the rolling demo of Three Seven Speedway also using B.
I've seen Sonic the Hedgehog on the mountain many times. However, I noticed that Sonic's appearance was reversed in the DC version; the arcade and Saturn versions always had him leaning right.
why player ALWAYS lose their control and drift at the last lap? D:

dAMN! Sega just wanted to keep one system seller on DreamCast only!
Still, can`t blaim them, Daytona is incredibly good...
Hopefully, Daytona 2012 will be released for Wii, as visual style on Daytona would work best on Nintendo machine.

The Manual Transmission one is Black and Yellow though.

That's definitely auto. Auto has yellow numbers, so a yellow "41" on the side, where as manual has cyan (light blue) numbers, so a cyan "41".

i think SEGA should make a daytona for PC PS3 and X360,not just sonic and segarally ...
nfdids 3 years ago 3
Yeah, they should seriously make a Daytona 3.
Or better yet, a pack of all their classic racing games (Virtua Racing, Daytona 1 &2, Sega Rally 1&2, etc)
That would be AWESOME.
