  • I saw her when I was leaving

my orthodontist appointment and I just had to say something. Such a brave woman. RIP Carl

  • So brave. What a great woman and mother.

  • Ms Walker is correct - bullying is NOT ordinary social interaction. Parents and teachers need to work together to create a safe environment in which children can thrive, not live in fear.

  • Being Gay myself and going through this same bull$#@! myself back in my school days, I agree that this need to STOP NOW!!!!!!! The Teachers and even my parents did the same thing she is talking about. I would goto Principals, teachers, and even my folks and nothing was ever really done except told"Ooh you need to learn how to stick up for yourself". Me being taught that suicide means you will go to Hell is what stoped any thoughts of suicide. I am happy now but not every ends up like this :(

  • there needs to be awareness on bullying, and it has got to stop. what are we doing raising oppressors in our schools? god bless her shes one strong mother and i hope that she changes things.

  • Good luck darling I hope this changes things!

  • God bless her <3

  • It must have taken some courage to tell that heartbreaking story in front of a congressional panel. Unfortunately, the school system does not seem to have the right tools to deal with bullying, since it is still a significant problem. We work with children to help them develop the bully safety techniques, self-confidence, and self-esteem they need to deal with bullying. I highly recommend martial arts classes for anyone struggling with bullying, whether a child or an adult.

  • i couldnt do my work in class since i was bullied teachers washed there hands of me i was always quiet i told the therepist im not taking the pill im hurting myself at night he didnt listsen when i felt lost i toock long walks in the middle of the night i could still here them taunting me at night i stuck it out and found out the hard way im suppose to love me first

  • The same thing happened to me, but I managed to not end up like Carl. I cry every time I watch this video. Please help stop school bullying.

  • The same thing is happening to me

  • BRILLIANT!

  • I went to school with a guy who ran away because he was bullied daily. His dad said if he came home beat up again he would have to answer to him. The boy was not a fighter, so instead he ran away and froze to death. He died because he was bullied at school and did not have a safe place to go.

My heart go's out to you. Stay with it and may God bless your efforts with success.

  • Sorry for your loss Mrs. Walker, but so proud, inspired and encouraged by your brave efforts to take a stand against that which is wrong. You are a real and true inspiration and the world is blessed to have you here. God bless you and your family.

  • Thank you so much, Mrs. Walker! As a child I was the target of bullies and thought often of suicide. Long ago, I'm old and well, but the memories still hurt, and much more importantly, GLBT kids are committing suicide at 3-4 times the "normal" rate not just because of homophobic bullying, but because it is reinforced by bigotry at other levels. Surely some straight kids also kill themselves in pain, confusion, and loneliness, suffering this derision. It is all horrible and must be stopped.

  • Such an eloquent and persuasive speech. Who could say no to Ms. Walker?

  • Why does Sirdeaner Walker have to be the next generation's Judy Shepard.

THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING! PERIOD!

  • Amazing woman and such an important message

  • "This has got to stop" +1

  • ":O"

  • A brave woman tells us why hate is deadly.

  • Thank you Ms walker for an amazing speech!

  • She is entirely right. People need to stand up and make their voices heard to prevent bullying in schools, especially at such a time when children can be so fragile.

  • This made me cry. Her strength is inspiring.

  • amazing speech. hopefully these plans will work out and we can end school bullying. you are so awesome and brave for speaking out ms. walker! :]

  • Sirdeaner Walker is a courageous hero and brings honor and dignity to her country, her community and the memory of her beautiful son. Thank you Ms Walker!!
