@luke12341234luke - It used to be called a "harmonizer," but a lot of newer digital effects hardware specifically call it "pitch shifting" (when not being used mixed w/ the original source).
i saw her on fallon too...really cool to see smone who does her own thing, totally. not a sell out...i like this alot & i told my daughter about her...
way different than normal music now this is shit artist an musicians of now stop to listen to we are on the dawn of a new era some an most think wether 2012 who knows we are reaching for the stars whats to come lol this song woke me up on my couch late night show at 1 or so in the mornin an i was mesmerized literally triped me out maybe just really tired but blew my mind outa this world
saw she/he perform on jimmy fallon and was so pissed at how shitty of a song this was I felt obligated to get on here and give anyone permission to do their country a favor and punch she/he in the face
@CrankDatSanta if you think the song is shitty i think you're just misguided, i saw it for the first time tonight and really liked it, and it is a shitload better than 90% of the shit that passes for music on television these days. It's not a song you get up and dance to so I doubt somebody with "CrankDat" could wrap their head around it as a spoken word piece
@GonejaDash I left my comment with the intent of some hilarity, I can wrap my head around the poetry but to say this is a song is what is misguided. Give me the piano/accordian player and the other guy and I will play recordings of Stephen Hawkings and create a masterpiece. Retire the robot voice Laurie and stick to writing strange poetry on bathroom stalls. Call me old fashion but I want vocal tones with my self expression. Not the killer from scream 1,2 and 3.
@CrankDatSanta i think its different i like it lil trippy somthing pink floydish in this idk the unknown not 2 sure but i like the alternate voice or personality trippy idk diferent
@GonejaDash Yes. Some humans just can't get a work that is even partly cerebral. They require faceless, bouncing breasts and sideshow violence in order to relate what's in front of them. Very sad...This, however, is an intriguing and original think-piece for the audience that she speaks and plays to.
I love Laurie Anderson's work. She is an amazing performance artist and I can't wait to see her preform in Chicago Jan 2011! Homeland was worth the wait . . . so moving!

And you know the reason I really love the stars is that we cannot hurt them.
We can't bum them or melt them or make them overflow.
We can't flood them or blow them up or turn them out.
But we are reaching for them. We are reaching for them.
