I think for Brian, michael is family and justin is more on the romantic angle. He loves them both but in a different way . Justin and michael love brian . The only difference is Michael can't leave Brian and would stay with him even if it means giving up his relationships, while justin can leave brian to pursue his career. You cant fuck family no matter how yuo love them but you can leave them for the love of your life.

I've always felt sorry for Ted. Brian only used him because he and Michael were on the outs. As for Justin, he was in my opinion "A Woman With A Dick". So long as he cooked, cleaned, took care of Brian's clothes etc he'd be rewarded with Sex. I don't ever remember seeing Brian doing Laundry or Cooking, or even Cleaning.

I always said that Brian and Michael should have been together. The obviousness of their need for one another was great. Brian and Michael obviously couldn't cope without the other. When his Mikey was out of the picture, he tried to pawn his time on others to try and replace it but it didn't work. Mikey was the reason he didn't even want to take anybody home. Not the BK we know. Brian is totally himself with Mikey. With Justin, he seems more parental trying to guide a boy in the right direction.

Brian & Justin's relationship is based on sex. Nothing deep nor intense. Brian could never be himself with Justin--not in the way he is with Mikey. The love & effort Brian gives to Justin is what Mikey deserves. Brian & Justin didnt work coz they had to change in order to fit each other--which was never an issue with Mikey coz they didnt need to change to fit & loved each other anyway. Justin will never be enough for Brian because he isnt Mikey. Brian shouldve just realized that from the start.

I think Brian and Michael love each other the way Will and Grace love each other. It physical but not sexual. Brian kisses Michael the same way he kisses Lindsey. He's a sexual person. But his kisses are loving yes, passionate, yes but not about loving Michael or Lindsey in a sexual way. I'm a lesbo and I kiss some of my female friends on the mouth but not because I wanna sleep with them. Also, best friends for 16 years is the longest relationship either of them has ever had. Michael is family.

has anybody else notice that theodore is the only friend brian tells his troubles to. he's the only one he really, really opens up to. ted's helped him through many a jam and even though brian may act shitty, stand offish, or indifferent towards him, he's always there to help him too, in his own "special" kind of way, of course.

I want you to know that this is a great comment. I agree with you 100% Brian and Ted have a wonderful friendship. Even in season one you can see it. Sometimes it's really hard to see past the Brian and Justin or Brian and Michael stuff to see that Brian and Ted are true friends and in a lot of ways Ted is a better friend to Brian then Michael ever could be. Ted doesn't let Brian's mystique cloud his judgment of Brian. Gale and Scott are very good friends, so their scenes together are great.

Ummm, some of you need to pull your eyes away from fanfiction and actually watch the show. Brian loved Michael, but he never wanted to be with him. Michael was the one who desired to be with Brian. The only time Brian was ever willing to sleep with Michael was when he wanted to numb the pain of his father's death, but Michael was gracious enough not to take advantage of him.

I don't think BJ shippers should get so mad when people say their relationship was built on sex. Brian was VERY much about sex. He was even called "King" because of it. He also didn't have sex with the same trick twice but sustained a relationship with Justin for 5 years. However, Michael and Brian had 20 years at the end of the series. Whether that was strictly platonic or not, it was always hinted that Brian needed Michael and loved him before he loved Justin.Different type of love?Maybe.

Agreed. I think the reason Justin managed to slip under the wires and close to Brian is because Brian never thought he would be a danger because they met through sex, and Brian's way of thinking was that sex was the ultimate barrier between people-- meaning the reason he always kept Michael at a distance that way was really to keep him close.

Delusional? Umm yeah thats why Justin and Brian didn't even stay together at the end of the show! While Justin had Brian on a physical level he NEVER came close to having him on an emotional level. Was Brian ever comfortable enough in front of Justin to cry? No, he only cried in front of Michael. Justin held Brian up to an idealized image of what a gay man should be and tried to make him one. They wanted two completely different things and niether one was willing to change for the other.

I agree with angelofmusic27, everything Justin wanted with Brian he already had with Michael with the exception of sex. In my opinion thats about all that Justin and Brian's relationship was based on. I never saw Brian daydreaming about Justin whenever he left, only Michael. And everytime they were together Justin always seemed way to immature for Brian, he couldn't make up his mind on what he wanted. Michael and Brian's relationship is far stronger given their history and far more intimate.

Justin was the ultimate Michael replacement - right down to the build. That's why it never worked out in the end. Brian always wanted what he couldn't have - Michael. The show was stupid for not taking that a bit further.

Nope. Brian always wanted Michael. He was just afraid that the second he and Michael finally took that last step that Michael would leave him. I really feel that's the truth. When he kissed Michael, it was full of so much love and longing. Their kisses were works of art. :)

I totally agree with angelofmusic. Justin didn't LOVE Brian (at least the way Michael did), he left him to go to NY. Always waiting for him to change and when he does and finally admits his love, he leaves him? What an egoistical attitude. While Michael has always been at his side. I would do a 6th season in which Brian and Michael could be together.

AGREED! There are times where Mike and Brian almost did it, but it would always be Mike that said no. (Again, later season shows that) Nonetheless, yea, Mike and Brian, there is LOVE there, but I wouldn't say Brian loves Justin any less (you get to see it at last season) I got into the serie at about S3? So I never got to see the earlier stuff but I can tell they do love each other. However, I do think if they got to sex, they would never be the same again.

Oh my goodness! Watch the first season of QAF if you haven't yet, I beg you! Hell, even just the first couple of episodes. You'll see why I'm a Brian/Michael shipper all the way :)

There's a lot of distance between them by season three. They can actually stand on their own as separate people, but in the beginning--they barely had separate identities, or at least Brian didn't.

Ahhh... Brian and Michael fight and poor Brian daydreams of Michael with Ted around - both here in Ep112 and also in Ep509! The 509 dream sequence is sadder, though and has awesome music. Seasons 1 and 5 have so may parallels with respect to BK/MN.

Hilarious scene! Brian was always wrecked when he and Michael where fighting. It's sad, yet adorable. Funny how Brian always called Michael "pathetic" but with the way he acted when Michael wasn't around? That was pathetic. LOVED that whole dynamic.
