On the stranger of names: I think all of Brock's name start with T because his Japanese name is Takeshi. The Elite 4 are disciples of Buddha because in Japan, they're the 4 heavenly kings. Ivysaur is fushi because the Japanese name is Fushigisou (meaning 'strange, isn't it')
