For all the Colt Brennan fans here, do you know a guy name Ken Dorsey or Timmy Chang, or Case Keenum? Dorsey destroyed ppl in THE U (not Hawaii), right now he got released by the Browns. Timmy Chang, whose also another Colt Brennan (or the other way around), I don't even know where he is. Case Keenum, put up huge numbers this year, not sure how good he can be.
Not saying Brennan will be a star, but he is nothing like Timmy Chang, who broke the NCAA interception record and had a career completion percentage below 60%. Brennan is an accurate, efficient passer who was 10 times better than Chang as a college quarterback. Like I said, I don't know how well he'll do because of his size and injuries, but anyone has to admit, the dude can throw.

favre was a second round pick because his strong arm. Pennington broke records and won nearly every game with the addition of randy moss. Flacco played division 2 but great pro day. Ben played against ranked teams and destroyed them....brennon..slinger and accurate but a lock on and struggles against great teams.

Bernie Kosar, Rich Gannon, and Steve Young flourished for years in the NFL with sidearm releases. Young was a lefty, even. I also think Todd Collins pinch-hitted very well for the Redskins in '07. They opened up the offense a bit more for him in the passing game. But I also think they should give Brennan a chance in the regular season.
Size isn't Colt's issue, it's his delivery. But I do think he should get a chance to play alot especially in the preseason and really show what he can do.
His delivery isn't a problem, many quarterbacks that have had a sidearm release have flourished in the NFL. His size is no longer a problem now (it was when he was drafted). He's now about 212 (he was drafted at 185).
It's incredible that they're acting like he won't learn a thing after being drafted (about the timing thing). That is something that can definitely be learned and coached. I think it was coincidence that he went to a team that runs the West Coast offense. I remember watching him in the Hall of Fame game (not that this has any bearing if he would ever see any regular season action, but) he was fantastic. I hope he starts just to prove the prognosticators wrong.
Jaws watched one tape of colt and that was the bowl game. He acts like Colt doesn't have the arm. I watched some of his games while he was at Hawaii and he can really lay it up there. He's accurate and HAS the major league arm. Watch the redskins pre-season games. He can hit people right between the numbers. Jaws is just pissed the Colt throws better than he ever could.

He's played legitimate competition 5 times in his career. '05 USC, '05 Michigan State, '05 Wisconsin, '06 Boise State, and '07 Georgia. He is 0-5 in those games and lost by a combined 129 points. That's an average of losing by 25.8 per game against actual teams. And if he sucked against them, he's gonna suck hard in the NFL.

Brennan just threw his first TD in pre-season and the drive he just made really looked good. i know a career doesn't project itself by one pre-season drive but at rd 6 i think the redskins made a very valuable pickup.

Brady takes what the D gives him. If he has time to pass....he takes it. When it isn't there he actually makes pretty quick decisions with the ball. Obviously, every QB needs at least some time - hence the SB against the Giants or Colt's Bowl game vs. Georgia (which I can't hold against either QB).
But I think Jaws did have one legit point: Colt needs to make quicker decisions when it comes to anticipating the D. He often waited for his guys to get open, instead of anticipating the break.
Also, I think Colt needs to keep that gunslinger mentality in check. Lots of those tight throws he made in college simply won't be there in the NFL. If he can learn how to check-down and make the occasional calculated risk - then he might really have something.
But yeah, I'd really like to see a Run n Shoot QB make it in the NFL.

Not saying Brennan will be a star, but he is nothing like Timmy Chang, who broke the NCAA interception record and had a career completion percentage below 60%. Brennan is an accurate, efficient passer who was 10 times better than Chang as a college quarterback. Like I said, I don't know how well he'll do because of his size and injuries, but anyone has to admit, the dude can throw.

favre was a second round pick because his strong arm. Pennington broke records and won nearly every game with the addition of randy moss. Flacco played division 2 but great pro day. Ben played against ranked teams and destroyed them....brennon..slinger and accurate but a lock on and struggles against great teams.

Colt Brennan is made out of porcelain. He had arthroscopic knee surgery this off season even though he did not play at all last years regular season. Now this year hes put on injured reserve because of a hip injury.

I think the Redskins have the second coming of Joe Theisman or Jeff Garcia riding the bench, and they don't even know it. If Campbell cannot get the offense out of 3 gear by week 7, they need to seriously consider playing Brennan for the rest of the season and cutting all ties to Campbell.

Bernie Kosar, Rich Gannon, and Steve Young flourished for years in the NFL with sidearm releases. Young was a lefty, even. I also think Todd Collins pinch-hitted very well for the Redskins in '07. They opened up the offense a bit more for him in the passing game. But I also think they should give Brennan a chance in the regular season.

His delivery isn't a problem, many quarterbacks that have had a sidearm release have flourished in the NFL. His size is no longer a problem now (it was when he was drafted). He's now about 212 (he was drafted at 185).

It's incredible that they're acting like he won't learn a thing after being drafted (about the timing thing). That is something that can definitely be learned and coached. I think it was coincidence that he went to a team that runs the West Coast offense. I remember watching him in the Hall of Fame game (not that this has any bearing if he would ever see any regular season action, but) he was fantastic. I hope he starts just to prove the prognosticators wrong.

Jaws watched one tape of colt and that was the bowl game. He acts like Colt doesn't have the arm. I watched some of his games while he was at Hawaii and he can really lay it up there. He's accurate and HAS the major league arm. Watch the redskins pre-season games. He can hit people right between the numbers. Jaws is just pissed the Colt throws better than he ever could.

Arizona State in 2006: One game over five hundred. Didn't beat a ranked opponent all year. Lost to two unranked teams by a combined 46 points. Not legitimate competition. He's played legitimate competition 5 times in his career. '05 USC, '05 Michigan State, '05 Wisconsin, '06 Boise State, and '07 Georgia. He is 0-5 in those games and lost by a combined 129 points. That's an average of losing by 25.8 per game against actual teams. And if he sucked against them, he's gonna suck hard in the NFL.

Brennan just threw his first TD in pre-season and the drive he just made really looked good. i know a career doesn't project itself by one pre-season drive but at rd 6 i think the redskins made a very valuable pickup.

Brady takes what the D gives him. If he has time to pass....he takes it. When it isn't there he actually makes pretty quick decisions with the ball. Obviously, every QB needs at least some time - hence the SB against the Giants or Colt's Bowl game vs. Georgia (which I can't hold against either QB).
But I think Jaws did have one legit point: Colt needs to make quicker decisions when it comes to anticipating the D. He often waited for his guys to get open, instead of anticipating the break.

Also, I think Colt needs to keep that gunslinger mentality in check. Lots of those tight throws he made in college simply won't be there in the NFL. If he can learn how to check-down and make the occasional calculated risk - then he might really have something.

I can't wait to see him play, looks awesome! I'd hate to see Campbell get benched after all these years of being trained and eveything else, but that's football. I think they're a little harsh on him when it comes to his release, I mean he did break all those records so I think he has a good idea of what he's doing. Someone by the name of Farve, you might have heard of him, didn't exactly have the perfect release either. He threw side armed half the time and look at what he was able to do...

wow this is his college career all over again..nothing but criticism and hate. he is the most accurate qb in the draft. hang in there colt, we'll see whos talking in the end

Colt will do fine in the NFL. He jus needs to get stronger and bigger and learn to avoid getting stripped of the ball while under pressure. Either way, Colt will do fine in the NFL.

Does Jaws know how hard it is to throw 70% in ur entire career? He obviously doesnt know the principles of the run and shoot. How can he study him on film and say he's not disciplined to play in the NFL? Thats BS. and Kiper talks about Colt not being tested every week. that was this year. What about the other quality "BCS" opponents in his past 2 seasons? Purdue, Arizona State, Alabama, Oregon State, USC, Wisconsin. Com'on. Quit bashing on COlt jus because he's from the WAC. Especially you Jaws
