I have Windows 7 on my laptop, and I haven't gotten the BSOD and I don't intend to--Is there any advice to keep up not getting a BSOD? I had my laptop since August 2010 with no problems but I wanna keep it clean and safe :3
i have xp BUT i just got a BSOD everytime i opened my pretend virus! same with my home made os!! i cant boot to xp... luckily, i have a cd so i got rid of my 2 partitions! and my homemade os was replaced by a backup of XP :D havent got one since!
I've had one blue screen of death and I gues it was USB related , because when I put my USB in I got it , i turned my laptop off and the next day my trackpad and keyboard wouldn't work -.- , end of august my laptop shut down and wouldn't turn on , so I decided to go for a Mac which I'm getting in December I'm currently writing this on my iPod touch
@make2magazine I've had about 100 blue screens in my lifetime, if not more. Many many of them were on win98, but lately (since my win7 updates) I've been getting 2 a day :S
lol? i have gotten 'blue screen of death' about 3 times now on the same comp and all i do is just turn off my comp and turn it back on and it fixes itselfs.. its no big deal
Hey dude!! listen What you said about drivers should be able to help me out! but here's the thing, I just bought a GTX 460 * evga * SC and tried to download the drivers * note my dvd drive was burnt out * anyways, i installed it and for some reason it stopped working.... BSOD happened! Any other tips? BTW , my pc wont start either i tried re inserting the ram and still nothing!!!! PLEASE HELP!
@jblevins1991 its a windows file tho and i reformated alot of times on different discs i think its another driver causing it or my harddrive has consistancety issues cause it freezes sometimes.I tryed returning it but the store said it had no issues when my computer keeps telling me to run chkdsk.exe(check disc)
I gt a blue screen of death on my laptop. After that, there's no more BSOD but after clicking on Google Chrome, it will start to not respond. I can't click on anything after that. I need help on this please.
i have been getting it alot and idk how to fix it AT ALL and i have been getting it for the last few weeks and im freaking out afraid it might not work one day
This got me out of doing a lessons work at school. The BSoD just came along (in screensaver form) and then we quickly shut it down. The teacher had no idea what's what and we got away!
I have the unmountable boot volume blue screen of death so I'm effed I cant log in or start up the computer at all. safe mode wont work that includes command prompt. I've had this Vista forever and nothing has happened on the other hand my Windows 7 laptop I've had for 6 months and BAM I got the blue screen of death and I can't fix it. If anyone has this same problem or knows how to fix it feel free to message me. Guess I'm down 900 bucks. Next time, I'm getting a Mac Blue Screen Sucks
Ever since all my hardware is udated at all times i dont remember the last time i had a BSOD... oh wait i do remember - a year + ago when my gfx card got burnt. It was BSODing me to hell until i replaced it. Nothing since then and i am using the crappy vista...
I use Linux, so the only problem I have to worry about is a Kernel Panic and a Kernel Oops, and those are very rare and normally only happen when you're configuring something important... or something ELSE does. Either way, GNU/Linux Distros are ideal for me, I love customizing, configuring, optimizing, and learning (About) computers.
I hate the bluescreen: I open sony vegas or another program and than out of nowhere there's suddenly a bluescreen and my pc is very new and cost me 920€!!!
I turned on my laptop and then "BAM!" I got one, well whenever I did continue it allowed me to restore to a previous state now I'm kinda scared but whatever.
@Manutd2456 Happens to me to, but my PC has this feature it dumps memory into a backup storage space so when it restarts everything is fine until it happens again, no memory loss though, also I heard if you do factory restore it'll put everything back to default settings, but anything you installed you'll have to do it again since it wipes the hard drive.

I tried all your tips but the only thing that dit was bring a new BSOD. I even tried to boot the CD to install the STABLE Vista. Linux is crap. Jesus god, why does the BLUE SCREEN EXIST????
@jman454100 the blue screen exists to point out an issue with your computer if it werent for the bsod there would have neverd been a fix for it which means, if your computer dies it dies

@tibondimek : idk, i guess most bugs are fixed. Now the database for drivers is much larger and chances are - if u plug in a new divice, it'll auto install the drivers from the net (if the divice is common). They have more stable features and i guess your chances of getting BSoD are like wayy less. Then again, I have gotten it once after a fulty ATi Catlyst driver update, but it rolled' it back after the issue without me having to do anything. :D
I got the BSOD once when trying to load The Sims (the original, not 2 or 3). It won't run on Vista properly without clicking "run as administrator" on the icon each time you play. I forgot to do that once and when the game's loading screen came up, I kept pressing ALT+F4 to shut it off, to no avail, then the BSOD came up.
I've also gotten it due to viruses, which REALLY sucked.
I only get mine when watching clips on Youtube. I don't watch on other sites so am not sure if it will happen with other videos as well. What happens is, I get a blue screen, and it is not always the same cause. But I reboot and it's ok until the next one. I tried some fixes I've seen but it still happens. Any suggestions.
hey i just installed a new graphic card on my pc and i played crysis on it everything went fine then suddenly bam!!! i had blue screen and i thaught it was something with my pc and the game that didnt work yogheter or something like that so i uninstalled it and now when i was watching a movie on my pc bam!!! again blue screen culd this be that my graphic card is to good for my proccesor or something shuld i buy a new proccesor or a new graphic card or is there something i shuld install pls help)
@Kyleidge ok but i just installed a new graphic card in my computer dont you think it might be the graphic card maybe ? i dont know i havent had any problems before i installed a new graphic card becuse my old one is broken : (
@theagemon5 After installing your new graphics card, your PC will need more power, and your power supply doesn't seem to be up to it :) This is what's causing the BSoD's (I think!)
Ask yourself this: "How many BSODs have I had that I fixed by installing an update from Microsoft?" I've been a heavy Windows user since Window 3.0 and I can't remember any. Bad memory, bad hardware, bad drivers Yes. Fixed by update...NO.
BSODs only come from Microsoft because that's the way they inform the customer of situations the OS can't handle. Have the same hardware issue in Linux and it will fail too, Linux just doesn't choose to show you a BS but the fix is still fix the hardware!
All I can add to what all ready said in the video is do not to install lots of toolbars and program you will get slow pc and unstable program that in some cases can bring on a bsod
don’t use the tool that you don’t understand how to use right lost count of the and system restore always there if you pc stop working right oh and please do not use poontag4me comment that just give you one broken hard drive lol
I'm on Win7 and have never had a BSOD, however while using my 2 yr old netbook I am now experiencing reoccurring BSOD (Hardware malfunction: parity memory failure error) No memory errors were found during memory check and I bought new RAM and still does it. Any idea how to fix it?
after i switched to vista and now windows 7 i never had a bluescreen in almost 3 years. and vista isnt that bad.... anyone who argues about the best and most stable os is just an idiot with no clue about pc's as long as it works fine for you it doesn't matter which os you have and with vista and windows 7 the bluescreen times are almost over

I've also gotten it due to viruses, which REALLY sucked.

i deleted a vid of my computer and got the the blue screen 2 seconds later
rushawnjones 10 months ago
I only get mine when watching clips on Youtube. I don't watch on other sites so am not sure if it will happen with other videos as well. What happens is, I get a blue screen, and it is not always the same cause. But I reboot and it's ok until the next one. I tried some fixes I've seen but it still happens. Any suggestions.

@Kyleidge power supply ? whats that ?
theagemon5 10 months ago
@theagemon5 It's a component in your PC. Seems as if yours is not powerful enough, If I were you I'd look into getting a new one.
Kyleidge 10 months ago
@Kyleidge ok but i just installed a new graphic card in my computer dont you think it might be the graphic card maybe ? i dont know i havent had any problems before i installed a new graphic card becuse my old one is broken : (
theagemon5 10 months ago
@theagemon5 After installing your new graphics card, your PC will need more power, and your power supply doesn't seem to be up to it :) This is what's causing the BSoD's (I think!)
Kyleidge 10 months ago
@Kyleidge ok i get it now i think the video card needs more power than my old one and my power supply isnt strong enough
i have
windows 7
2 gb ram
procesor intel core(r) core(TM) 2 cpu 6600 @ 2,40 GHZ 2,40GHZ
32 bit
my graphic card is
ATI RADEON HD 5770 1GB GDDR5 PCI EXPRESS 1080P FULL HD
HIGH DEFINITION MULTIMEDIA INTERFACE
i dont know if you understand all this but i just wrote down all the information i could find about my pc :P
theagemon5 10 months ago

I've never had a blue screen of death and my PC is a Compaq that's been running Windows since 2003.
leeham991 11 months ago
Ask yourself this: "How many BSODs have I had that I fixed by installing an update from Microsoft?" I've been a heavy Windows user since Window 3.0 and I can't remember any. Bad memory, bad hardware, bad drivers Yes. Fixed by update...NO.
BSODs only come from Microsoft because that's the way they inform the customer of situations the OS can't handle. Have the same hardware issue in Linux and it will fail too, Linux just doesn't choose to show you a BS but the fix is still fix the hardware!

SuddenMovieImpact 11 months ago
@SuddenMovieImpact The solutions for BSODs come all the time. But for reasons I've never understood, no one appears to notice.
dimbulb23 11 months ago

Any idea how to fix it?

the only os i had bluescreens on is windows xp.
after i switched to vista and now windows 7 i never had a bluescreen in almost 3 years. and vista isnt that bad.... anyone who argues about the best and most stable os is just an idiot with no clue about pc's as long as it works fine for you it doesn't matter which os you have and with vista and windows 7 the bluescreen times are almost over
