excelent review. i just finished watching it on netflix for the first time and found it to be on the same level as one of my favorite Stanly Kubrick films A Clockwork Orange... very bitter sweet.
If you guy's like Mary & Max, make sure you check out Adam Elliot's Oscar winning, Harvie Krumpet. The Aussie DVD is loaded with brilliant extras as well.
I totally agree. I wasn't to big on Harvey Krumpet, but Mary and Max is probably the best animated film I've ever seen. I really felt for the characters, and Elliott made them funny without ever disrespecting them. I think this should definitely win the academy award for best animated feature, but we all know those are just about film politics, and since it's a tiny Aussie film, Cloudy with a chance of meatballs will have a higher chance of winning.
I completely agree. I do think I might have been a tad hard on this film. I gave it a 4.5/5(well you saw my review so obviously) because some of the quirky humor didn't completely work for me. I'd probably give it a 5/5 now so that shows I'm not to good at rating movies haha. They better nominate this!
You said that UP will probably end up winning, but do u think it deserves to?For me personally it was a bit of a letdown as i think it doesnt live up to the hype. I saw it as a visualy impressive family film with a talking dog and a stupid bird...
I'm pretty sure I heard about this one or twice but still didn't know much about it . I had no idea it was supposed to be this good! If the quality from the link is good then I would be happy if I could get that link from you good sir!
This movie is awesome! Thanks so much for reviewing it and spreading the word! This movie is ten times sadder than UP and it is a brilliant piece of art that truly deserves way more attention.
Even thinking about this movie makes me smile but similtaneously makes me want to cry. Beautiful, beautiful film.
