That's not exactly cell theory. Cell theory is merely the idea that the cell is a fundamental unit of structure in all living things. That cells produce cells is somewhat of a stipulation. However, like almost every theory, there are limitations. One of these limitations is the formation of cells themselves (FYI, there was never one single cell on the planet. Populations form and evolve, not individuals). It is still not well understood, but progress is being made.

No. Cell theory is mostly about modern cells. Newton's theory of gravity isn't "debunked," it still has uses for most applications. It's like atomic theory...we have no atomic model that is accurate for all applications, so we use a variety. Cell theory is similar; it's mostly accurate, but abiogenesis marks its limitation. I recommend taking collegiate science courses to learn more.

The inability of people to understand theory vs law is something I run across all of the time. I think a philosophy of science course should be required for all students not concentrating in science at the university/college level. I know the difference is covered in Jr./Sr. High School science courses, but I don't think it gets enough emphasis sometimes.

I have always had trouble with the "proofs" of the "Pythagorean" theorem. There is no doubt that it works, but proving and demonstrating are two different things. Perhaps proven repeatablity of how things work is the definition of science. Thus knowledge of methods and theories is also implied. Would you still define science the same based on this example or even differently?

That's not exactly cell theory. Cell theory is merely the idea that the cell is a fundamental unit of structure in all living things. That cells produce cells is somewhat of a stipulation. However, like almost every theory, there are limitations. One of these limitations is the formation of cells themselves (FYI, there was never one single cell on the planet. Populations form and evolve, not individuals). It is still not well understood, but progress is being made.

No. Cell theory is mostly about modern cells. Newton's theory of gravity isn't "debunked," it still has uses for most applications. It's like atomic theory...we have no atomic model that is accurate for all applications, so we use a variety. Cell theory is similar; it's mostly accurate, but abiogenesis marks its limitation. I recommend taking collegiate science courses to learn more.

The inability of people to understand theory vs law is something I run across all of the time. I think a philosophy of science course should be required for all students not concentrating in science at the university/college level. I know the difference is covered in Jr./Sr. High School science courses, but I don't think it gets enough emphasis sometimes.

NATURAL LAWS CAN EXPLAIN how an airplane works or how a cell works, but undirected natural laws cannot explain the origin of either. What about natural selection? Natural selection doesn't produce anything. It only "selects" from what is produced and it only operates once there is life, not before. BLIND WATCHMAKER NO ARGUMENT. Natural selection is no "blind watchmaker" because it can only "select" from traits having survival value. It doesn't produce those traits. It only operates once there is life and reproduction, not before, so it couldn't be involved in life's origins. A partially-evolved cell (an oxymoron) would quickly disintegrate. APES ARE QUITE COMFORTABLE IN HOW THEY WALK, just as humans are quite comfortable in how they walk. Even a slight change in the position of a muscle or bone, for either, would be excruciatingly painful and would not be an advantage for survival. To make this clear once and for all ...(again) ... Evolution is both a theory (of the origin of species) and an observed and observable fact. Things evolve, the process has been witnessed and documented. The "theory" of evolution has been tested repeatedly and has NEVER failed any such test. That's why it's still a theory and one of the best supported in all of science.

Actually, evolutionary theory is more has far more evidential basis than music theory. Ask a music teacher why Major and minor scales, consonance and dissonance of certain intervals, universality of the V-I, IV-I cadence, etc. are the way they are and it wouldn't take long to get the answer to boil down to "Because that's the way it is. The 4 elements can be adapted to be more reasonable, if you consider them to be Solid (earth) Liquid (water) Gas (air) Energy (fire), thus comparing elements to energy states. Not a perfect notion by any standard, but at least its not totally nuts.
Modern paganism has seamed to make this leap, allowing itself to adapt somewhat and not being as 'fundamentalist' as some religions.
This doesnt make any of it right, ofc, its only labels.

I have always had trouble with the "proofs" of the "Pythagorean" theorem. There is no doubt that it works, but proving and demonstrating are two different things. Perhaps proven repeatablity of how things work is the definition of science. Thus knowledge of methods and theories is also implied. Would you still define science the same based on this example or even differently?

when the Bible talks about a circle (it does not use the word disc) it is talking about the earth being round like a sphere...you have to interpret the Bible by it's context,just like the language it was written in,Hebrew

@Jnest55, there is no Hebrew word for 'sphere', but there is one for 'ball'. That word, "duwr", is used in Isaiah 22:18. But the passage you're talking about uses the word, "chuwg", which actually does mean a flat-circle, such as a disc.
