  • Sonny didn't write but he did what was needed for Clings time away

  • They both do a great job. I can't comment on Sonny's live performances, but I do know that Clint is terrific live. I saw them last year and they started out playing 'Splinter', and energy was crazy. Probably the best song of the entire show.

  • sonny was better i think

  • AT LEAST THESE GUYS HAVE THE NUTS TO TALK ABOUT IT.ALSO..THEY REPLACED HIM WITH AN ORIG.MEMBER..THATS LIFE AND BUSINESS.YOU KNOW HOW MANY FIRED MUSICIANS THERE ARE WHO WERE LET GO WITH NO NOTICE,NO MONEY AND NO WARNING?CHECK AND SEE HOW MANY BANDS WOULD EVEN BE INTERVIEWED TALKING ABOUT IT?NOT MANY..HATS OF TO THESE GUYS FOR TALKING ABOUT IT..

  • Hero man.. first song on Next

  • what is the name of the song in the beginning with the drummer screaming???

  • @animal9651 It's called "Hero"

  • coulda had 3 guitarists. they use plenty of 3rd guitar parts on recording that are pretty crucial to some of the songs

  • I am so glad Lowery's back. Not to say anything against Sonny, but Lowery and Connolly just are the best together. Love Lowery's creativity. To me, just didn't feel the same without him. Then again, maybe it was my denial but I didn't think Mayo was staying anyway. It just didn't feel permanent.

  • man fuck sevendust there a bunch of pussy ass bitches

  • @mackeando they are one of the best bands out 2day.so stfu dude.

  • Clint brought back the heart, I honestly stopped loving them as much.

  • I think they were bad ass with both players, which is a true testament to the rest of the members of the band. I was in a band for 7 years. We lost a drummer after about 5 and it was like 1/4 of our sound just couldnt be replaced or equalled. They pulled off a great sound with Sonny, and either way they were still Sevendust.

  • I Cant Believe Some Of The Shit Im Reading About Clint!! OK Im Going 2 Say This Only Once------" With Out Clint It Is Not Sevendust.. I Stopped Listening 2 Sevendust As Soon As I Heard He Was Out... Sevendusts First Three Albums Are Amazing And W/ Out Ther First Album They Wouldnt Be Who They Are... Just Like Korn W/ Out Head, Rage With Out Zach, Hed P.E w/ Out Wes Style. Ill Nino W/ Out Marc Rizzo, And Snot W/ out Strait...

  • Personally I like sonny better and I was really disappointed they let him go to make way for Clint he already had his chance and fucked it up with the drinking.

  • What was that song called at the beginning?

  • @partyboyrockstar "Hero," from the album, Next.

  • Sonny never really fit this band..to say that he brought more to 7dust than Clint is a kinda silly. I'm sure he's a great guy and he did his part while Clint was away but people getting their panties in a bunch over Sonny getting booted and Clint coming back is ridiculous. (it's funny cuz most of the ppl who have a prob w/ this whole thing have probably never been in a band..lol)

  • @flyingsquirrel73 I can agree with 95% of what your saying. the only thing I can say i that they were a more energetic band with Sonny.

  • @exconguitar I don't think that's physically possible lol

  • can someone please me tell the name of the song at the end of this video.thanks

  • @guitarXXX69 the song is "Failure" on 7dust's album "Next"

  • I have to agree, the band looked much more lively and happier on stage when Sonny was with them (Alpha Tour). Saw them twice with Clint after the "reunion" and it doesn't feel right. There's a lot of tension.

  • I'm gonna miss Sonny.

  • @Nyke05 i'm not. he may have been a sound bloke, but he's no Clint. And Sevendust without Clint isn't Sevendust. It would be like trying to continue without Lejohn, or Morgan.

  • You can't say fairer than that, they realised it was a shit thing to do but they admit it straight up (no pun intended).

Sonny was a great member but with him doing rhythm, John had to play lead and John ain't Clint when it comes to lead. Clint's a highly strung guy who didn't always know what he wanted from what I've heard but he's genius.

  • Clint Lowery brings so much more to the table than just guitar riffs. He is the genius behind many of the melodies and harmonies that Sevendust originally had. He's also the focal point of the acoustic album Southside Double-Wide. When Clint wasn't with Sevendust, they were a different band musically and I am sooo happy he is back! Seasons happens to be my favorite album. From top to bottom, lyrically and melodically, it's by far the best album they've done.

  • the album they put out with Sonny was fckn sick... i truely believe things happen for a reason

  • BURN VS DENIAL ?

  • @verseaucamus Burn. Animosity vs Alpha?

  • snot without lynn?

  • Ya there is a new Snot, everyone is there except lynn but the new singer is alright.

  • You're dumb.

  • You're clever.

  • No. Watch interviews from 2005. Clint left the band because he was disruptive. Such as wanting to do more singing. Sevendust didn't want him in the band anymore. Then he joined his brothers band. And in my opinion Next and Alpha were Sevendust's greatest albums. Sonny was a great guitarists and I think they should have denied Clint's attempt to rejoin.

  • You we're def. right about why he left the band, i was misinformed and i apologize, but seriously, next and alpha in my opinion are just sub-par man. They're not terrible albums, but i dont think they even come close to the self-titled, home or animosity.

  • I love Clint, I was sad to hear him go the first time. But he left of his own accord. Sonny came in and filled the shoes, did his best at it. He did nothing wrong, and was unfairly ousted. That's when I lost respect for this band. Fuck Clint, sonny deserves the gig more. Clint ONLY came back because Dark New Days label dropped them. Just watch, if anything happens with Dark New Day again, Clint will jet, and guess what? Their next guitarist search will probably fail because of this BULLSHIT !!!

  • I know why you are mad. I agree. But I'm glad Clint is back. He helped start the band. He is a much better guitar player in every aspect. He also has a great voice.

  • I personally believe Clint is a better guitarist and songwriter, but that doesn't make the actions of Sevendust justifiable. I mean, if my guitarist abandoned me and my band, and we found a suitable replacement who poured his heart into the band, there's no way I'd let the previous guitarist just waltz back into the band. I don't care about his credentials or that he helped build the band. He dumped them, and I honestly believe he will again. They should have never taken him back.

  • I totally fucking agree.

  • It would have been better to keep Sonny as an additional guitarist. That would have been the shit...three lead guitars!!! But shit happens when you are in the music business.

  • That would be 2 lead guitars. And one rhythm .

  • so let me get this stiaght

they got rid of ther first gutarist. got a new one and then fired the new one to get the old one???? that's fucked up

  • Pretty much yeah, I think their albums with Sonny were better than their prior ones, but that's just my opinion. John doesn't give himself that much credit, he's very talented and has great vocals and is a great guitar player, I think he did better than Clint as lead.

  • I've been a sevendust fan till 99 and I have to admit that tho I felt "next" was pretty weak., I think Sonny improved in more ways than one. One thing i enjoyed about Alpha and Chapter VII are the lyrics. One gripe I always had about sevendust is that the lyrics from place and half of the stuff didnt make much sense to me. I hope Clint doesnt bring the old style lyrics back that would suck. I hope he plays some hard shit too like he did in the self titled.

  • music isn't about the lyrics. and would you say that Tool's lyrics suck? part of some band's appeal is the vague poeticness of the lyrics.

  • I wouldn't say they suck but Tool are in a league of their basically.

What do you mean music isn't about lyrics? Would you rather have nonsensical lyrics rather than meaningful ones?

  • im a big Sevendust fan drive all over the country to see them and i liked sonny better ten Clint but i had a chance to see snot last month and sonny looked happy and sounded good i think its awesome cause now we have snot back

  • I'll be honest I ran into Sonny in Mission Viejo, CA while getting coffee :P, and I approached him asking about the whole Snot thing... and he seems really happy about it. So yeah it was kind of dick but overall everyone's happy and keeping busy.

  • Greenmonster, could you be anymore OVER DRAMATIC? Fuck shit happened, Clint is their long ime friend and band mate, they decided to let the hard feelings go between one another and I think its great that Clint is back.. To say your not going to give a penny is just childish and way to "one tree hill" bro.. IT's a shame that sonny is gone I gotto see them twice with Sonny in Toronto and he's amazing.. But I love 7D as a whole and I'm embracing the fact that Clint is back. Long live the DUST!!

  • Sonny got fucked. Clint's a pussy. Total bullshit...total bullshit. I'm now an ex-fan and these guys won't get another penny of my money.

  • if korn replaced Head with someone and then he decided to come back, would you not want head back? when it comes to the original band there is a chemistry that you can't just replace. if you watch more interviews from SD on the subject thats exactly what they say, you can't replace the chemistry that comes from the original set.

  • The same could be said about Marcos Curiel who left POD in 2003 and came back in 2008. He was replaced with Jason Truby and I bet it was odd for POD to ask Jason to leave so Marcos could come back to POD. I agree that there is something about a bands original members that can't be replaced when a new member joins.

  • Good point.

  • ive been lucky enough to see 7dust with both clint and sonny, gotta love orlando

  • Definitely a double edged sword situation....Sonny helped create their most musical album imo, so that really sucks he got the boot.

  • I was hella pissed when i heard about it

It wasnt till i heard that sonny got back together with snot that i was more stoked than pissed. Snot's new shit sounds hella good too so what can you do?

  • Totally agree with "Cybermonkey" down there. Sonny was tight, unreal energy onstage. Clint screwed them and then they screwed Sonny to get Clint back in, it's like a bad Jerry Springer episode.....In Lynn We Trust!

  • hahaha that is a good way to put it

  • Stupid mistake gettin rid of sonny. HE brought Sevendust back to their roots with next and alpha. Then he killed it on Chapter 7. I understand Clint was an original, but come on, he left, they should have never taken him back.

  • ya bro i agree i mean just look at the huge sound change from seasons to next the sound got harder. i've never seen a show with sonny it but lookin' at the video pieces but like bhit said look at him jumpin' and shit. ya not to much of a fan of clint now. amazing band but pissed because they fucked sonny out of what he helped recreate

  • Dude, sonny was the friggen coolest bro. Me and my Friend traveled and went to like 10 shows in a row. We always stood in front of him in the front, so after like the 3rd show he started to recognize us. He would give us water and shit when we would ask. Im still so mad that hes not in sevendust anymore. The band even looked happier on stage when he was with them. Now Lajon looks like hes gunna cry everytime he talks about clints return...lame.

  • @v8supercharged03 ive seen shows clint stands at a mic and sings and plays, saw him in hampton beach he soundeawful, missing chords, off key, off tempo. ive also seen shows with sonny, they all seemed to have had alot more fun with him. they fucked up a good thing to bring back a fucking cry baby bitch.

  • Sonny would be better with Sevendust, Snot is a total dissapointed. Lynn was Snot! they should of left it at is!

  • Snot being back together without Lynn, Is odd, honestly. Lynn, IS snot, and bands can NEVER replace passed members. Its hard as hell. Metallica is STILL trying to fulfill CLiff.

    Look at Drowning pool

  • Look at Alice in Chains.

  • he just said he didnt do anything wrong, so my question was y did they kick him out in the first place?

  • Because Clint wanted to come back. And Clint was there first, so even though he was the one who quit, they felt obligated to bring him back in, and because he's part of their family, they also wanted him back. It had nothing to do with not wanting Sonny in the band.

It's like letting your best friend crash at your house, but then your brother loses his house. You dont wanna kick out your friend, but u only have room for 1 & u can't leave your brother homeless. At least that's how I think of it.

  • haah good analogy man

  • Thanks :o)

  • Good point didn't think about it like that

  • @TWiSTiDLiTTiLFUCK I'd just make one of them sleep on the couch. make them Rochambeau for it.

  • Had to be hard as fuck. I was instantly sad for Sonny, but also happy for Clint the day they announced it. They must have agonized over how to tell him. I am so excited that Snot has reformed, and I am going to their show with Mudvayne on the 9th of Nov. I am not sure what to expect without Lynn, honestly.. but hell, Alice in Chains pulled it off (quite well)- so I am hoping for the best.

  • yeah im gonna check em out in cinci, ohio on december8 with mudvayne. cant wait for that shit. its gonna be iNSaNE!

  • I will be at the cincy show as well, lookin forward to it
