Ok on a octoport is there a way to make the port smaller? I am getting a single cab truck soon and need a port and thought octoport would be cool but idk how to build one let alone I don't think I know how to fit it in the cab yet. Any advice?

@superbass918 Yes I can make them lots of different sizes, but for a single cab truck, you'll never fit it, so you should look towards using PSP aeroports instead.

Hey Dave I got a question, I know the box has a lot to do with it and my current system is one 15 inch memphis pr on 420 watts. It bumps pretty good but its about that time for an upgrade. I don't think i want a 15 or and 18 I was thinking probably a 12 and was looking at an alpine type r but I know a lot of people at my school use type r's and I want to be louder then them. They use prefab boxes so I was thinking with a box like this for a 12 would I be louder given the right watts?

@acdcman1988 Sounds like the amp is wired too low or it needs more ventilation. Could also be a bad cooling design on the amp. I've never had an amp shut down from overheating.

What amp is powring this sub.I want to buy a 12 inch for my 2010 f 150. I want the best sub out there. Ive been looking at the orion hcca comp. sub, lanzar poti 1233d, dc soundlab level 5 and several other subs. What Sub should I buy.

@dedurango25 It's powered by an RD Audio D9 in this video. It was getting 3600w. The Mayhem was my second favorite sub that I've tested. I personally love the Image Dynamics IDMAX , but it depends what your goals are. The Soundstream XXX is also a great sub and so is the DC Audio XL.

I want to have the lowdest 1 sub setup at the best price and i want to show these kats that kicker is not the only brand out there. And id probably have to get you to build me a beasty box.

For the Orion you should be looking for a good 2000-3000w amp.

@freebirdjoe2 u cant run tweets and ur subs thru the same channels on an amp it would blow ur subs or the tweets unless u have some crazy multi channel amp where u can split the frequency.

@mobettaspice How far it's moving has very little to do with overheating the voicecoil...that song is right at tuning frequency so the speaker doesn't look like it's moving far but it is being pushed with 3600w+ on a very bass heavy track at full volume. I haven't found many subs that I can't make smell very quickly :)

@jguerra420 Not much difference if they are the same size, but the Octo is usually much bigger than a round flared port so it performs better.

box guy dave. whats your thoughts on t-lines for drivers over 8 or 10" - have experimented with the smaller subs with good results but i predict the advantage of t-lines over ported/sealed dissapear with drivers over 12". Any thoughts?

@barevids So far I've only done a t-line for a 10" sub (with great results btw) but I don't think the advantages would dissapear with larger drivers. The difficult part would be keeping it a reasonable size for a vehicle. For a house I think they would work great.

@cody63645 Thanks! It actually looks a lot nicer now, since I painted it gloss black and the port metallic cherry red. The Octo is usually good for a few db more than a slot port in my testing.

@07RedRider400 the 8.5" one is larger than 2 6's. If it's for music, not spl comps, the 8.5" port would be good. For spl burps and higher tuning, the 10" would be better.
