Whycan't people get over the color of the skin. I know it sounds so humanistic and almost hippy-ish of me but it's an era where people can't trace their origins past their own great grandparents anymore. But the number of blacks lynched was staggering - and lynching was never a tool of social control used against whites. There is really nothing sadder, or more indicative of racist attitudes, than to hear and read whining by whites about they, too, were or are victims.

@redman840 What you conveniently leave out is the white victims or lynch mobs were lynched by other whites. Your attempt to trivialize the unforgivable evil that was done by whites against blacks fails to exonerate those who committed those horrendous acts. Since you brought it up, a large percentage of the whites who were lynched were like Goodman and Schwerner, murdered for having the nerve to believe that human beings of all races deserve basic human rights. -SMH
