I'm interested in how you did the wheels as well? From the pictures I'm assuming th rims are brass... what are the centres made of and how are they kept together with the rims and the axles? Glue or press fit?
Well, the new extendable chassis have weights in them, and I've seen them track pretty good (Don't have any so far) Obviously they'd be better suited to the higher radii track (142 and 157) I agree about the mechanism though. Hopefully the next drive is a worm drive. In the meantime, I look forward to more of your experiments.
But I think, there is another problem to realise the ICE3. You know I have built the ICE1 already and I know the long 55mm-cars are difficult to hold on the track. KK Eishindo have to realise only essential shorter cars until now.
They can take the first mechanism, put a worm on the motor, change the position of the first gear (higher) and it works perfect! To realise that I need 3 minutes, not 3 years!!
Uwe, very impressive little piece of equipment. T Gauge UK has stated their HST is going to have a new smoother mechanism, so perhaps Railway Shop is working on the 3rd gen mechanism and are waiting for that for the ICE? There doesn't seem to be alot going on for sure, but hopefully no news is good news.
Yes, but all experiments are useless without magnetic wheels! KK Eishindo could make such wheels sure, but what's the matter with this firm? They are unable to make the ICE-3? Nothing out of announcements! This is a very great disappointment! Is there someone in the world, who want to build modelrailways in 1:480-scale serious and not only for kidding??
Good one mate!!!! Love the loco. I will build 2 steam locos soon, a Victorian Railways light lines 2-8-0 K & J class. 1/500. I have always been in awe of this fellows builds.. : )
I have made them by myself.

The metal locomotive wheels themselves, did you get those custom turned by Mikroantriebe or do them yourself?

These are gears, made by Mikroantriebe with special holes for me. So I could press them on axis with 0,6 mm Diameter.

it made the S3/6 work much better...

Thank you, this is very impressive to watch.
I wish I could build one of the Flying Scotsman for my layout.
