I never bothered working out a strategy like this.

I just furiously trained outside Lindblum for hours until my team was strong enough to beat one...yeah all the bosses after then were slightly too easy lol.

Probably one of my greatest achievements.

I never actually tried to beat the grand dragon, instead I went to the Garudas, and just reflected them to death.

I also did this kinda thing in Lost Odyssey, getting all my characters to 50 early on.

An easier method is to wait until Treeno on disc 2. You'll be able to make Coral Rings for all of your characters.

I leveled my Steiner, up to 50 lvl when, he and marcus were in that prison..

I killed marcus, and steiner alone was accpeting about 1500 exp :D

Anyway, as soon as i finished story with terra i did all the chocobo quest and leveled zidane, eiko, steiner and freya to 99 lvl :D

And now im pretty much ready to figtt ozma, even though i didn't need a lvl 99 party :D

@arriesdavid sometimes the method could fail depending on your luck. if he attacks and doesn't miss with poison claw, then yeah it can be a problem or he's just a low level. @thefreak834 didn't prepare right i guess.

@sarachi2000 use the bandit, hes right lol. i forgot.. anyway u can get one ice staff on ur journey to cleyra in disc 2, i kinda forgot where exactly but just try the chest boxes there or scanning ur enemy b4 u steal, they might carry one. then once u got one quickly go back to gizamaluke to battle it..

@DjScoobyy u have to be in memoria, precisely in the room where u fought the last chaos (the strange one, that initially is like an ordinary room with 3 doors, but when you approach the central one, the walls vanish and you see nothing but open space) in, and here it goes, less then 14 hours. I've played 26 hours and I'm in the first CD yet loool

That's the same strategy I often use. But in the end I prefer the old "reflect and damage one" in disc 2+. It's much more simple. Yes, it takes at least 2 hours of training, 'cuz you have to make sure that every pg has the auto-reflect thingy learned (dunno the english name though, I'm italian uagliò). But that huge amount of exp gained totally pays back the time spent fighting non-stop some useless monster lol other than this giant, there are other monsters that give good amounts of exp...

too bad dude you are mistaken in your post.....this can't help in getting Excalibur II...why?....because it would consume time making it impossible to defeat lich in under 12 hours.....

@arriesdavid there are two Excaliburs a normal Excalibur and an Excalibur with a roman numeral II in it's name....

@arriesdavid simple. the timer resets after 100 hours. so you can get excalibur after 100-112 hours, 200 - 212 hours and so on. this levelling trick just makes you uber OP early on.

@1983dogma The reset after 100h doesn't work, I've tried myself...When you reach 100h, the timer JUST changes color, but the game time is not reset. There are rumorus stating that after 1000h the timer will turn white again, making it possible to find the exalibur II in memoria. But those are just rumors ;)

@Alfofer1 your absolutely right, but after the timer changes colour you should be able to get excalibur II. its been a long time since my first play through when i tried it but if memory serves i did end up with excalibur II (and im not the type of person to rush through a game and miss the lovely storyline). yeah and i been told timer goes back to white after 500 hours... maybe reset wasnt the word -.-

@HajimotoSaito u must be thinking like i over leveled using this method wich kills a lot of time. i only need 2 defeat the dragon 3 times wich only took 8mins per battle or less if u are lucky, if it took longer than that i alwys reload the game.

I remember after getting my first win, Vivi got the most levels (with everyone else dead), and every win after that got a bit easier. Then you can start winning with more people surviving and spreading the experience points.

quina's aqua breath does 3800 damage or close to that...when it hits

@JosephPorta18 no it wouldn't lol... grand dragon is only weak against ice and quina's magic is too low to reach that damage. one thing this is disc 1 before burmecia...

In my experience i used reflect ring in this battle, 4 reflects in 1 thundaga, 4x the damage, rather than using coral ring, cause whatever you do you're just 1 hit in his claws in disc 1

@aislestrikemakubex reflect rings aren't avalable in disc 1... read d title and the description box... if u prefer reflect rings then look for video telling u how to defeat it in disc 2, 3 or 4 then.. :D

Amazing strategy, because using this could allow you to max your characters in Disc 1! The grand dragon is one of the best experience monsters.

@arriesdavid ohh yeah, by the way, if you use zidane's soul blade with 'the ogre' equipped you will blind the dragon and he will miss most of his physical attacks, which are the most dangerous to you at this lvl :D

@TheLibermania yeah but u loose the chance casting blizzara once being hit by thundaga coz he'll be the one left standing making him responsible to revive the party insted of zidane. and he stays in full health making freya's cover useless coz freya will only protect an ally with critical hp. ooh hard to explain, try watching it again. hope u got my point...
