how do u connect ur pc to ur xbox ?? i did this using the ethernet cable but my pc doesnt recodnise that my xbox is connected . .ive tryed everything to stream from xbox to pc but cant do it. i think i have the updates from xbox live coz it downloads them automatically when connected to live. my internet connection isnt wireless ,could this be the reason i cant stream ?

hi yes i have worked it out ,i plugged me external hard drive into the usb ports on my xbox and i now can play my avi from my harddrive through the xbox without having to connect my pc . the update from live enabled me to do this.thanks!

Your Xbox and Computer need to both be connected to the same Router, and both need to be turned on. Once both are connected to the same router, when when you go to music, photos, videos, etc., your PC name will be displayed there

Gotta disagree mate. With the updates, the 360 will play Divx streamed from the PC without transcoding as well as MP3s and plenty more. I love my 360, although, I'm sure the PS3 is, at least, equally as good.

Funny how I've been using it as a multi media hub for years. But I guess you know best. So all the movies, music and photos I view/play from my pc through the xbox I suppose aren't multi media. Shame, I thought I was living in the now.

what a useless machine the xbox is, it can't even get 1 video without having to go through so much trouble, i had 360 for 1day n traded it for a ps3 plays divx wmv n lots of other formats. from my hard drive or memory stick easy.

The 360 now plays plenty more file types including divx once it's updated. Only 360 con is the 'live' service.

on my laptop i have vista premium... i go on my xbox 360 and click media center...then i get the 8 digits.. i go on ma laptop and on media center..then add extender..i put the code in and press next...i follow all the instructions but then it stops and says "an error was encountered while configuring your computor for use with this extender" please help!

xvid offers little benefit over divx at this point. and they're not programs, they are simply encoders for video files, to compress them (similar to the way that winrar compresses regular files)

well actually thanks to a latest update to the shity xbox dashboard u can ply most divx videos i say most because if u have files encrypted below the 5.0 codec it wont work. kinda pissed off since thy got this before ps3 did.

there is actually a way of playing divx without VME using a piece of software from microsoft - windows media encoder.. This method is slightly complicated though;)

Thats what VME tries to do: reduce the complexity all from a click of a few buttons rather than setting up the stream on the PC and then going to the 360.

Man, I tried to use Windows Media Center but it doesnt work. When i try to connect it keeps asking me for the driver for Xbox 360 extender. I am using Windows Vista Ultimate. And it keeps asking me for a driver for the 360. Can someone help me?
