I just started fishing again after 27yrs and I'm trying to find some good free stretches of river to fish.

Commercial fisheries are pretty good, but at £7 - 10 a go, it soon mounts up.

nice video, but I think the tendency with these types of vids is to run through the setup, rather than prep leading to the first cast. I.e. did he prebait, did he cast 8 or 9 times with just the feeder to get a bed of feed down ? I'd presume he didn't just turn up and cast?

Easy fishing. Try the pole using a lollipop float at about 10 mtrs. Far more fun.

can i ask why you use the completely un-needed oversize pole? or does it make it more fun? i fish as much as i can, around 3-4 times a week, and i live in the U.S. I'm 14 and i was just wondering. i do alot of river fishing for channel cat, could you use this feeder method for that?

that pole is specially designed for that style of fishing..sensitive at the tip & gradually stronger much like every pole but long for the reach also for keepeng the fish at the top.the strenght of the pole is made to accommodate the size of fish theyre targeting. you could definately use a feeder for cat, i do in hawaii, i use worms and corn mixed into cheapy brand oatmeal-in the feeder & chicken liver sacks on the hook. ALOHA

usually for catfish you we would use a ledger, a big weight on the line down to the hook and bait usually similar to uk carp fishing, crossed with pike angling, as they are predatory fish, you would usually feed by hand/catapult or pva and if you are fishing a large lake maybe a bait boat, and if using boilies then a throwing stick is a useful addition to the box, usually feeding oily pellets and chopped fish works, i gess you could use a feeder but i think leger and manual feeding is recomended

kinda gets the fish used to the bait and like you said, it attracts them for fishin on the bottom.... easy to do too :).

essentially yeah, the he is using is an open ended feeder, you use them in conjuction with grounbait, which looks and feels sort of like fine bread crumbs, he is usng a mixture of "brown crumb" and "superlake" superlake is a groundbait, and brown crumb is brown bread crumb, mixed with water to a slightly wet consistancy and it makes a cloud of particles and scent in the water, encourages the fish to feed, you plug small offerings between in the groundabait to turn the fish onto the hookbaits....

i fish that river alot, normaly using feeders with molasses flavoring in the groundbait and two red maggots on a size 16 barbed kamazan hook, works a treat :)

Chances of catching on a Waggler or a slider aren't as good as feeder fishing, for Bream anyhow.
