I got one of these for Christmas because I was SOO EXCITED based on the ad on tv at the time. Then when I actually GOT ONE, I realized what a RIPOFF it is (plus the fact that to CHAT WITH ANYONE on it, you had to actually BE IN THE PRESENCE OF SOMEONE ELSE WITH A CYBIKO within only 40 or 100 feet!). Luckily, I was able to return it to Best Buy and get my money back... on a best buy credit. But whatever. $109 is still a good deal of cash.

We have 2 cybiko extreme with duff batteries. I just replaced 1 with rechargeable phone battery that I got in Maplins. On charge now. All seems ok. It's physically smaller than the original battery but it has the same voltage.

Looks like a cool device! Those batteries look almost like they want to be square AA's... They're probably NiCd since this in 1999 and it's a toy.

Take them out and see what they say the voltage is on each. If it's between 1.2 and 1.5 volts, replace with a AA or AAA, whichever will fit, pad with aluminum foil and tape to make it reach the terminal if needed.

You'll find out for yourself, and you know it's true, you get an iPhone, you play with it for a few weeks because it's gee whiz gadgetry, then it's just a phone again, which you occasionally use as a GPS and sometimes as an MP3.
