@Roadrash1991 indeed. This car is still a delight to drive every single time I get behind the wheel; largely due to the fact that it's such an involved process.
@ritmusic2k Just seems so exhilarating lol.. I want to buy one of these I have my eye up on a silver convertible! Could you tell me from a stand point how reliable it's been like the engine and also turbo.
@Roadrash1991 Just make sure the one you're eyeing has been well-cared-for, and continue to do so yourself, and it'll be one of the most enjoyable cars you'll ever own. I just ticked over 151,000 in mine, and she is driven the way she was meant to be driven at least a little bit every day. If you let it idle for 10 seconds before first driving off, and warm it up gradually by driving gently for 10 minutes, you can expect a long long service life. Regular basic maintenance and TLC = bulletproof
@ritmusic2k Yeah I'm a grease monkey so I do take care of my cars very well. Doing maintenance myself and checking weekly in the engine bay and checking oils etc.. So yeah thanks for the input! The 2.3t seems like a great motor from what I have been reviewing. On cars.com it talks about the Viggen getting a 4 out of 5 star rating in reliability and performance by JD Power Associates, and they call that One of the best! Hardly any cars receive a 5 star rating but this car has the highest.
Im on both saabcentral and saablink and I can tell you that its definately tuned. Even if it is not exactly calibrated, it wouldnt boost to that point in the red... Congratulations youve probably got a stage 3 viggen!
Update, 12/7/09 - just took her to the dyno yesterday. She's putting 220hp/260ft-lb. to the wheels, boosting 14.7psi at sea level... My buddy's stock Vig was putting 200hp down to the wheels, so mine's a good 10% or so over stock output. I got me a nice healthy car!
@93hot82 "bhp" is measured at the crank; this car's 220hp / 260ft-lb were measured at the wheels - factoring in a very modest 5% driveline loss, that puts the engine at 231hp / 274ft-lb.
In actuality, my driveline losses were probably higher, but either way the car was performing above stock specifications.
The needle goes between 1/2 and 3/4 of the way through the red zone, but I've always been told that those were not consistently calibrated and can't indicate a true boost level, just a relative one.
I'm having my cronies at SaabCentral look at the video and give me their armchair assessments.
I bought the car from an auto broker in October, and from a hardware standpoint, the car was only lightly modified - 3" downpipe, full exhaust.
As far as an ECU tune is concerned, I haven't investigated it yet; I don't really have a frame of reference to even guess how fast she should be in stock trim.
The video certainly makes it sound way more badass than it sounds in the cabin... I'll be sure to post an update if I ever figure it out.

@ritmusic2k i did not know they measured it at the crank so 5% loss is not to bad then still pulls well so that is stock thought about mods

@93hot82 I don't actually have the Viggen anymore; she died in a nasty accident last year :-/

Hey,
I honestly don't have a good answer for you...
