I used to build these cars and race them for 8yrs. I built plenty of toyota starlets like this one. You can clearly see how something broke underneath and hit a tire sending the car out of control.
He didn't steer anywhere. He had little or no control. When a mechanical failure happens, not too many, if ANY driver(s) can account for what happens. especially at almost 150 m.p.h. on an 1/8 mile course. Maybe if he knew WHAT was going to break and WHEN, the driver MAY have been able to keep it in control. Don't know what broke. Possibly drive tire failure. Looks to have come from center. Diff. explosion and gear oil on tires? Somebody (who knows) tell us what broke, please.
@superregal85 them little chevy chevette shaped cars will not handle at high speeds no matter what they have in them or how fast they get there lol,only one i ever saw was good and it had been lengthened by 3 feet and even then it was to narrow and all over the place{pro-mod) car.
@Cosme422 key word(SHAPED) did not say it was a chevette just that style,no biggy,they do look like you could almost interchange body part's lol,back in Lynn Alabama a guy had a red one back around the early 90's that was one wicked little car,super lite weight,had a giant Blower reaching out,so much power it could not be controlled, no one ever had money,we used what we had,triumph TR-7 with a 327 chevy in it,526 kb blown hemi in a dodge colt,72 Opal Gt,love the small cars!A handfull
@Cosme422 the game is changeing fast for these little cars! now they can get the Pro-mod power out of a smaller engine or the one they came with if you got the right one,I was thinking about building another one but dam with all these Twin turbo cars pounceing everywhere's i think I need to wait and see how this all settles out,a man could go broke fast just trying to keep up with the technology if he is serious about winning anything,you have to do it for love and be able to afford it
