There have been several instances in North Carolina of voting places having 'computer glitches'. Voters have noticed upon reviewing their electronic ballot that their choices in 3 of the positions was changed. (those three being the governer position, president, and a representative.) Voters complained to the poll place operators, and were told it was a minor 'glitch'. ALL of the votes were changed FROM Republican TO Democrat candidates.

I don't think Mickey Mouse has a state I.D.,social security number, or a verifiable address. I'm pretty confident he wont show up to the polls to vote. So it really doesn't matter if someone making minimum wage and has a quota to meet and mouths to feed writes Mickey mouse on a registration form.

I propose signature verification method. Everyone voting comes with a state identification card or driver's license which has a signature. A voter signs at the voting booth on the bottom of the ballot. We scan the ballot and extract the signature. We verify the signature with the driver's license and validate the vote. Will have both paper count and electronic count with verification.

I agree that we have a bad system for voting because there's always a way to hack these machines, but what method should we do? Paper didn't work (2000 Florida) and Computers don't work (2004 Ohio). Any ideas, please reply. Thanks

The paper in Florida that didn't work was the kind where you punch a hole through the paper. Marking an X next to your selection ON PAPER is still the best way to do it.

Already there are problems with the voting machines in Florida.  If you touch the touch screen in favour of Obama, it recognises John McCain.

Just for trivia information, in Australia all eligible voters are required by law to vote ( with a small fine if you don't ). There are also paper records of all votes.

The problem isn't "Voter fraud," it's Voter Suppression. No one has to worry about someone voting for Mickey Mouse over 9000 times, but we have a lot to fear from lawmakers trying to delegitimize the election in advance by saying all these minority votes shouldn't count.
