  • Hensley is not the best keyboard player, but no other one has got that heavyness, that overdriving sound and playing: listening to that solo starting at 2'08" make me shivers with pleasure and emotion. No others players make feel like that.

  • @fpitton Hensley is an inspired musician, so the way he expresses his talent is Organ and Guitar playing, Singing etc. His influence on song writing of Uriah Heep is huge. He always had songs that he written and plenty available for the band.

  • Sounds like someone was listening to how the first Pink Floyd album ended and did their take on it.

  • @jamful2 Musicians and bands influence each other so they do feed of each other, some are able to take a musical idea and develop it further etc.

  • @jamful2 A particularly Heepesque take on early Floyd, though, gotta admit :) That screamingly melodic chorus...

  • Sexcellent...........\M/

  • Joe Konas on lead guitar is a good friend of mine and extremely talented on guitar...he moved to Windsor Ontario Canada in 72 and has been the driving force amoung musicians to this present day. Jimi Hendrix jammed with The Gods at The Speakeasy club 2 weeks after his 2nd show at The Royal Albert Hall gig. I have a few pics from this jam...in one, Joe is doing a lead and jimi is in a side profile really checking him out...it is said Jimi really "tipped" his hat that nite :)

  • very interesting

  • I too have never heard this song before, but it is truly awesome. Luv it!!

  • Never heard this before. Interesting. The only part lacking from "true UH" is the "truly heavy", but the melodic is there, as well as the rising tempo... where did you ever get this, Dimagg?

  • @heep58 You can download on line both albums of "Gods" , this one is from the first one , the second one called to Samuel a son. Both are very beautiful sounding and melodic, maybe the second one is a little heavier. Iw ill upload a song from it today. A mu8st for Ken Henley and Heep fan :-)

  • @heep58 I uploaded Uriah Heep "Gods" He's Growing and Momma I Need,

    to You Tube.

    Enjoy

  • Never heard this before awesome pre-heep song:p

  • Fantastic, thanks for posting this

  • Favolosi !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I would like to find the Gods demos from

'67,Greg Lake left after that,Ken Hensley

had admitted he's too talented, to be in

the background. Thanks Dimagg, you have good taste in music. I've long been a Heepster myself.

  • Awesome that you've put this up! My fave of theirs is Farthing Man - sheesh, I think it's called that; been so long since I accessed my vinyl. But thanks so much for sharing this!

If I can find the records, I might be able to answer the question above but I'm sure Greg Lake is credited on at least one of the ones I have.

  • This song

    Line-up / Musicians

    - Joe Konas / guitars, vocals

Mick Taylor / Joe Konas - guitar

  • @Dimagg1973 So this was a band with the members of Uriah Heep just before Uriah Heep formed and the band was called "Gods"?

  • By the way, does anyone know if it was Greg Lake or Paul Newton on bass?

  • I had never heard this before. Thanks for posting.

  • Interesting. Hensley was tuning up here for songs like 'Lady in Black' & 'July Morning'!!!
