  • Exactly what erikeepper said, your broke it down to a single stroke four, not the herta. (Single stroke 4=RLRL, Herta=RLR-L)

  • @Oli4drums You are very correct. Im not that great of a drummer or musician for that matter, so it makes somethings very difficult to teach

  • @billpeart You got it correct for the most part though. You're better than expertvillage! hahaha

  • wanna see a guy do this with his feet ? look up Bleed by the band meshugga

  • @aleczander1134206 They are great!!! I can play this on my feet as well. Nice to see a meshugga fan out there!!!

  • the breakdown is actually two 16ths - rl - and two 8ths -rL- with all for notes being part of a triplet, so its 1 beat long. so yes basically it sounds like rlr-L

its a herta. pretty sure its a hybrid rudiment.

i personally learned it from the song violence by blink 182

    hope this helps

  • its not rlrL its rlr_l nice try though trying to break it down if it was rlrL it would just be 16th notes all the way through you played hertas on the set

  • a barometer measures pressure.

  • I tapped my hi-hat and it predicted rain tomorrow. And the bass drum said 30 degrees.

  • you should play for Weather Report!!!

  • BARAOMETER LOL

  • ur snare sounds little bit sad but rest is ok...

  • My apologies... you guys are right. My bad mood ruined my judgement. The pattern is awesome and it is my application of it would probably be the only thing that would differ from yours billpeart - not saying that yours stinks... to each his own. Seeing that the point of the video is to showcase the pattern and not to place it in a broader musical context, my comment was unfair.

  • no need for apologies. I greatly appreciate your reply to my comment. You seem like a very open minded musician and thats a great thing!

    take care

  • Don't like it... it's not musical...

  • opinions vary i guess. being a musician means that YOUR mind should make it musical. Lessons can only offer chops, rhythms and beats. A musician must use all of these to make music. its all how you use it. I have various examples from my own original project and from pro artists that use this fill with great effect. but, thanx for your honest comment, i greatly appreciate it.

  • if ur creative enogh it could be... try alterning the accents with the bass drum, replace a few notes with the bassdrum, open ur hands... thers a million things u can do with accents dude. be cool

  • danke

  • thanks for your comment

  • thanks for the tips i hope my friends stop bitching at me now!!!!

  • why are they???

  • It sounds like a swiss army triplet lol

  • ouaou awesome

  • first off, thanx for watching. I started learning this by starting very slow, slower than how i played it in the beginning of this video. Before any speed can be applied you need to internalize the feel. work this for a couple weeks, just 10 min a day, at 40bpm. once your comfortable, and only if your comfortable, go faster. even repeating the 1234,1234 in your head during the course of the day can help as well. I hope i helped you some!!! good luck!!!

  • when i try to practice this i get the feeling im playing triplets, any help with that?

  • haha! i realized that after too!!! nice to see u were listening!lol thanx for the comment!

  • Thanks so much for this man i was nedded fill ideas so bad

  • im glad it helped..it has many applications all over the kit!!! thanx for your comment!!!

  • .....

  • This little grouping is called a four stroke ruff.

  • I believe the technical name for that is called a hert-a

  • You actually play a different hand pattern than the one you broke down :D. The fill you play is RLR_L_RLR_L_RLR_L_R where _´s are breaks. And the slowed one is RLRL__RLRL__RLRL__. You kinda should think about the fills more before posting a tutorial. But no offence.

  • thanks for the comment. You are correct, i was playing it differently to show how many strokes to use. no offense taken dude.

  • @erikeepper I am truly sorry about any mistake I made or for any misguidance. Im really not proficient in any notation. It can very difficult to teach when this happens. In my head, this is what it was to me. I believe some may have called it a Herta...??? Thank you very much for viewing my video. Drum On

  • Very cool. Sounds like a firecracker on the snare.

  • i never looked at it that way, but i guess your right! thanks for commenting.

  • Nice work! Very informative.
