I am currently 14 years old and have obviously never used a tanning bed. However, I am going through the 'Elliptical excision' tomorrow on my back for a biopsy. Do you have any idea how big the scar will be? Just because some peoples are very small such as yours, but some are very large even with a leision smaller than mine. Do you know why this is? Thankyouu xx
@MissCkatie - Hi... I'm not an authority on how scars heal- but- since your only 14 - it should heal fairly nicely.... & fade in time. Good luck with the Biopsy.
I have many friends who went to tanning salons and their skins are nice and bronze - but what they DON'T know is that it's coming back to haunt them!! I hope you're OK now
In the 70's & 80's we all "over did it" outside and/or in tanning salons. We know now that burning can increase your risk for skin cancer. I am at the forefront of educating people to NEVER BURN! However avoiding sunshine/UV is not the answer. We need UV to survive & we need a tan to protect ourselves from burning. A tan will actually help PROTECT you from skin cancer (due to sunburn protection & vitamin D)
Please tan responsibly & in moderation (according to your skin type & previous exposure)
lol.... BBQ'd Robin. xD You have to laugh. Keeps the spirits up.
Thanks for posting. Very informative. But glad you caught it in time. Awful. I've used tanning beds maybe three times in my life. Doesn't seem worth it now....
Thanks for sharing, was going to a tanning bed but figured I'd lay out in the sun when it gets warmer, not bragging but I'm French Indian and it takes me awhile to get a tan, hope all goes well in your recovery
@dlite61 - feel free... I'm gonna share it too... & on twitter... I made this vid to show people the dangers of tanning beds... & to show the importance of a skin Dr.
I am very sorry to hear this latest news, you are a great woman with an amazing amount of energy and strenght, I am sure you will overcome also this problem.
I can offer you, if you accept, my prayers for your health and well being.
For how many years and how often have you been
doing those tanning beds and when you started to have problems ?
@derekNb02 - thanks Derek... I used to go in the 80's because the neighbors got mad at me for laying out by the pool in my thong... so- to keep the peace I used tanning salons- now- I wish I just ignored the neighbors. hjhahahahaha - now I see my skin Dr. every three months- & ironically my Butt is the only area that hasn't revealed any pre-cancerous cells. hahahah
Very Interesting. I just did it.And have 2 to go. Heal well,we all need to,lol.
