thats a really dumb idea no offense, its creative but not smart if you ever get robbed people are going to take your cd's because they know that they can get a couple bucks at a pawn shop. the old holly book on a packed book shelf is still the best because even people who know about it are not going to look through all your books to see if you do but most criminals are stupid anyway
A lot of my friend have had their CD's stolen and nothing else. Maybe you should put it in something better that people don't really want. Try a bunch of country cds or something.
If a crack head or someone was to break into your house, the CDs are probably one of the first things they would steal due to the fact they are easy to pawn. I worked at a pawn shop for a lil while and CDs were the main items people would bring in. That "hidden compartment" is more like a thief's wet dream, it would be like hitting the jack pot. lol. I still must admit it is a creative attempt.
nice, much better than a book, the only bad thing if any one was ever to come in and rob you most of the time they trash your place and seeing a bunch of cd stuck together is a give away
Brilliant Idea, however I don't think you should sell it commercially, then everyone would know where your stash is.. But I DO think this is a really creative idea. Better than the book idea since it looks like no one would ever look in it anyway.. Since people don't even listen to cd's anymore.. ^_^
thanks!! i dont really keep anything in here, i just made it cause i had the idea a while ago. yeah cd's are pretty much irrelevant nowadays, but i heard that they are commonly stolen in burglaries. :(
Oh word? I never really thought of that. I honestly doubt that people would go looking thru some cd's if they were just sitting on a shelf if there was a computer that had an ipod hooked up to it.. But yeah I guess cd's still are stolen.. But seriously, who would steal cds? ._.
Doesn't everyone have mp3 players now that they've imported their cd music onto their computer so it wouldn't even matter if your cd's got stolen?
hey thanks for the positive feedback! ive been meaning to make a 'how to' vid for it, but ive been so busy lately. so i used a dremel tool to cut out about 6 cd cases. every 'sheet' except for the cover and bottom, then i lined it with black foam paper. used a ridiculous amount of superglue on all the sides to keep the cases together.
Unscrew light switch sockets and hide stuff in there. Or a unused sink and cut the drainage pipe, seal it on the bottom and not the top so you can put stuff in there, sand the rim on the top of the pipe down enough so you can push the pipe up the pipe sealed to the sink and pull it out. Also those M&M plastic tubes. Stick a quarter in there about half way and then just push either side of it down so it will pop up.
lol CDs were a good idea...but people target CDs more than books...like they will say: "oh, cool you have CDs? What kind?....they will reach for it and BAM your under cover compartment is a gonner....(or just not a secret anymore)
Well you could always use crappy CDs that no one would steal lol like Barny Soundtrack or old bad country music. Then once they see those no one will rob them lol
not to sound like a hater, i like the idea, but im thinkin cd s/ electronics are gonna be a possible target of a robbery, my friends house got robbed and all his cds were missing
agreed. CD's are actually highly stealable so hiding thing in cd cases isn't really the smartest idea. It's best to hide your stuff in items that are less often stolen or in places that a robber is unlikely to look; like a fake book on your bookshelf, a hidden compartment, or in unusual places, like the underside of a lower book shelf or drawer. Or if you have an old antique grandfather clock with a concealed pendulum chamber, put stuff in the chamber! Seriously who would steal or look in that?
ill try and make a tutorial video next chance i get.
i used a dremel tool with a 'plastic cutting' fit tool to cut out circles the size of cd's through every layer of about 6 cd cases except for the front flap and back flap. then i just lined it with black foam paper. it actually takes along time and can be very messy. thanks for the feedback!
i dremel'd out about six cd cases (the size of a cd) leaving the front flap and back part of the case in their normal condish. cut out some foam paper to fit on the inside and cut down to size. the labels make it look really convincing. if you wanna try and make one you should make the cd's have a theme like some pink floyd albums or anything thats your style. thanks for the comment, id like to see yours if you try and make one.
Call me crazy, but if I were a robber, even with CDs an obsolete technology, CDs and other technologies are exactly the kind of shit I'd be after..

How do you propose to hide things in them.
yanksfan932 2 years ago
you take an object of any type, as long as it will fit.
you take your hand (here comes the hard part) grasp said object and shove it into your secret glued together cd case. but there is a warning
you might cut yourself on the sharp edges of the cut out CD positioning units.
