  • THANK YOU so much Skip, for sharing your priceless collection of interviews! You always manage to draw out so many fascinating details of memory from your guests; things that other journalists never uncover. Also, as a fan I appreciate the respect you always show your guests, which I'm sure is a big reason they are so open and revealing to you in your interviews.

  • Beautiful. Gotta read the book. Yes - what a classy guy - just like his dad.

  • I'am a guy from chile,i lived here for many years, your DAD was bigger than many of the great singer of this countrry and your mother one of the most beatiful women god bless them. I played their song every time. And i love it..........

  • shut the fxxk up and let the man talk!

  • Thanks for sharing your story. Your Dad was an awesome performer. Your Mom's movie's make me think girls should be more like her. I am so sorry for the loss of both your parents.

  • looks a lot like his mother. More than his dad.

  • looks alot like his dad....thats great cause its always weird seeing celeb offspring talking about parents they dont resemble!.....hes almost a twin !

  • Dodd darin, what a beautiful face he has. Very handsome..

  • @b3rn41987 Can I like this twice?

  • @SocialMatic1 Of course you can :)) He has a face that is meaningful, intelligent and beautiful :) Have a nice day...

  • he looks like his father

  • Who is this Skip lady and why is she so creepily intense?

  • looks so much like his father! this is the first i'v seen this. thank you so much video.. so good. thanks again

  • I read the book, it was great! Thank you Dodd for the memories!

  • Class act.

  • Check out youtube/lulu.mov

  • what is the song he is singing at the beginning?

  • @glandgirl He's singing "Some of these Days"... Great tune!

  • @glandgirl Some of These Days...initially made famous by Sophie Tucker, who titled her autobiography the same.

  • Thank you. Dodd is a gorgeous guy. Looks like Bobby, but got the refined features of his mom.

  • Bobby... attended The Bronx HS of Science. Jus a bit of Trivia...

  • To me Bobby is McDreamy! Hot, hot, hot... and so is Dodd! :o)

  • "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and I think Bobby was handsome, sexy, dreamy... and that voice!!! In other words... he was a hottie! Dodd is a hottie too! :o)

  • He's gorgeous and appears to be a very nice guy. Bobby Darin's legacy!

  • I would like to know who ticked dislike to this.. you 1 sad bas*@rd

  • Dodd! Your Daddy was not unattractive... and he gifted you with his great looks!! :)

  • I use that same "defense mechanism."

  • LOVE CHILD CONCEIVED IN LOVE!

  • omg those eyes and lips are identical to hid daddys. Heis bobby all the way.

  • Dodd what a class guy we love your father.

  • Bless you Dodd with all the best. Your parents had some wonderful times together....my cousin worked for the Drake Hotel and the Hotel Pierre in NYC (if I remember correctly) met them both while they were staying there...and was treated ever so kindly by both of them...made us love them even more!

  • Dodd is a remarkable young man. I wish him only the best. What a wonderful son he has been to his parents and their memories.

  • Could you please remove the incredibly stupid and completely inaccurate comment insulting the late Sandra Dee. The person's username says it all; it was posted on or about Dec 1st. Thank you in advance for removing it.

  • great interview

  • Is the entire interview (black and white film) available anywhere?

  • Dodd...they are immortal. Look in the mirror.

  • Dodd you are amazingly handsome as was your dad. I am amazed to learn that he felt he was unattractive. Thanks ...this video and interview are fantastic. i have always been a fan of both Sandra and Bobby.

  • This interview was 1994, the year the book was released.

  • He looks like his father !

  • What is so amazing is that he looks just like his father

  • father like son....

  • what year was this? I wish people would put dates on clips

  • who is this iriswigle??? What a nut job!!!

  • What a handsome guy! I really don't think Sandra Dee had that much to worry about in 1973, since she was one of the most beautiful women ever.

  • There is another two second video pick up of Dodd Darin with Bobby Darin at a Janis Joplin concert. J is on stage singing and Bobby is seen snapping his fingers to the left of the video back stage with Dodd at his side. It was ?1969 - 1973. I thought it was at a European concert promo for the poor. J's money always went to the food bank. But Dodd should remember if he ever went to Europe rite?

    iris wigle-cutforth

  • @iriswigle It must have been 1969 or 1970; Janis died in the fall of '70.

  • I can't wait to read this book, especially since it is written by their son. I was just a little girl when they became my idols. I loved them in movies and together, loved Bobbys music. I didn't know Sandra sing so much. I cried when I had read that they died. What a handsome son though....anymore children from them?

    5*s, thanx for this vid.

  • Dodd is such a fine man and a living tribute to Bobby.

  • My goodness~ He is so handsome like his father! His mother was so beautiful...thanks for posting.~

  • Thanks for a very interesting clip! Bobby D. was a fantastic entertainer!

  • wow its incredible how much he looks like his dad!.....must be the shape his eyes I'd guess

  • The lips too! Definitely the lips. Believe me, I've spent a ton of time memorizing Bobby Darin's lips.

  • yeah I guess you'd be right about that lol....although thats never really been something I focused on either one of them lol

  • @au05232003 Bobby Darin was aboriginal Jew. He did have another son by the name of John Cusack I believe. One was from the maid and the other was from a surrogate. But, understand there was one Bobby Darin plus at least 3 other understudies also known as Bobby Darin.

  • I dont mean to be rude....but that is all wrong and a bit strange.....john cusack was not bobby darin's son....im afraid u got ur facts mixed up...take care!

  • Oh, my fingerprints or all over the raw copies of Bobby Darin's movie & books. John Cusack has the right to do a dna check if he so wanted. As I said to Jerry Lee Lewis once, "Oh Daddy, do you really want me to write the truth about Bobby?" He had lawyers present for the screening of the Bobby Darin movie. No. Bobby had a really heartbreaking life which had nothing to do with either Sandie nor the maid nor the blond from Bewitched. Let's do a dna thing

  • Bobby Darrin's Real name is Walden Robert Cassotto, he is Italian and from the Bronx, he was not Jewish, sorry

  • Can't believe BD thought of himself as unattractive, I think he was very sexy and cute. Love to watch his facial expressions while listening to his beautiful voice.

  • GRAMMY ALERT! Bobby finally gets the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award Jan 30, 2010!

  • At 8:16 Dodd talks about Bobby's insecurity. It is hard to believe that Bobby had any self doubt, but Bobby put his fears aside and always put on a fabulous performance!

  • Bobby Darin was a friend of mine in the late 1950's in New York and in the 1960's in Los Angeles. He bought a couple songs from me and recorded them. He always wanted Dodd to have an inheritance. Great to see this video. Come visit me at our blog called WES BRYAN - MY LIFE IN MUSIC Wes Bryan and Christine Trzyna

  • Dream Lovers was a good book. I have all 3 books about BD, but that was the best one. Cool interview.

  • Very Handosme and looks like his Dad.

  • Wow! Mr. Russo you were a lucky man:)

  • Yes I was lucky, to be Bobby's opening act, but as "luck" would have it, Bobby loved a good game of chess..and our battles over the board between shows became 'epics' for the boys in the band to behold. I recall he insisted on the 'queens pawn' opening, a center attack, coordinated, when white but when he played black, the 'Sicilian defense', a flanking defense in battle. In light of his music, buoyant strong openings, lateral musical nuance, his defenses were deceptively complex.

  • That is a great insight! Thanks for that little tidbit of information! That is awesome you have that memory:) I am jealous!

  • Thank you sincerely for posting this. It explains so much about the mystery that drove Darin, one that I observed during the short period of time I spent with him as his opening act in Nevada.

  • I think Dodd Darin looks so much like his father. I loved it.

  • I enjoyed this interview Skip. Criticisms are totally unjustified.

Thank heavens for the internet. Great to hear it all from the son of the father.

    Thanks.

  • Dodd Darin, a classy guy just like his Dad. Sandra Dee without a doubt one of the most beautiful screen actresses ever.

  • Dodd Darin is such a thoughtful, intelligent man---I'm sure his mom and dad would be incredibly proud of him. Thanks so much for this wonderful clip!

  • Nice to read your comment ! Im sure the parents would be proud of their son. One of the best clips on YouTube!

  • what a wonderful surpise to see dodd on this talk show i just finished watching this movie on tv it was name BEYOND THE SEA the story of booby darin i just loved it it brought back memeories

  • Dodd, what a SWEETHEART!!! It had to be tough to lose his father at such a young age. I am so glad that he and his mother were so close. He also took great care of her. May they both Rest in Eternal Peace.

  • It's just so interesting to see Dodd. He's a really fine man, and I've always felt bad that he didn't know his Dad for a longer amount of time. Bobby was the best!

  • Great clip! You guys are right, Skip E. Lowe has GOT to be the inspiration for Jiminy Glick!!! No doubt about it as far as I can tell.

  • OH MY GOD! First of all, Skip is the worst! Shut The "F" up. He's in love with the sound of his own voice..he asks a question then interrupts. And...He IS Jiminy Glick. Who the hell is this guy? Who did he have to screw to get his own show?

  • Skip is a GUY?????? Wow. Are we sure about that??

  • @GaryCraig965 Well, it's not exactly the style of interview I'd chose, but at least Skip managed to get this discussion (which was very insightful) recorded and onto YouTube. Sometimes, you have to accept the bad with the good. And something tells me that whatever it took to get the show, "have[ing] to screw" wasn't really much of a bargaining chip in the deal.

  • Skip E.Lowe appears to me as Martin Short's inspiration for his comedic celebrity interviewer Jimminy Glick.

  • Fuck Skip. Let the guy talk. No one needs your fake sentiment when a guy is trying to contribute to the legacy of a legend. RIP, Bobby.

  • Actually, I think Skip is a fine interviewer. His interviews are conversational, and they create an intimate tone, as though you're eavesdropping on a conversation among friends. And remember -- all of these people ARE Skip's friends. That's why they choose to do his show.

  • Gee I agree with you...I didn't think he was bad at all...it was conversational like you said....We've all seen interviewers who constantly interrupt and it is just awful.

  • What a treasure of an interview. As a fan of Sandra Dee & Bobby, I absolutely love watching & listening to their wonderful son. Dodd took such good care of his mother, bless her heart. He is a credit to his parents. Bobby absolutely cherished Dodd, and he obviously instilled in Dodd character & honor. His parents would be so proud.

  • Dodd always respect his parents in interviews with clarity and warmth and loyalty what a great son big ups Dodd your the tops and you had a great father.

  • thanks for posting this video! i'd love to see it in its entirety. dodd is so cool!

  • I love this:Its the best interview I have seen Dodd do..Where did this come from and where can I get this..Wonderful. Kathy

  • That clip is cute. It's also interesting to note that he plays the opening chords of Long Line Rider at the end. A work in progress?

Considering Sandra died in 2004 and the book was released in 1994, this must be around 1994/1995.

  • Fantastic. What a find. I'm a longtime Bobby Darin fan. To see his son is a treasure. thanks.

  • Gosh, This interview is so, so cool!!

    Dodd, you rock!!!

  • Thanks so much for posting this. I have been wanting to see an interview with Dodd for a long time.

  • As a Bobby Darin fan I find this very interesting. Can you tell me when and how this interview came about and where and when it was aired?
