I clearly remember watching this commercial when I was 8 or 9.

According to a 1993 interview in Sassy magazine, actor Jerry O'Connell was one of the baseball-uniformed kids in this commercial: "My first gig was a commercial for Duncan Hines cookies. I had to run around in a baseball outfit singing, 'Crispy chewy, crispy chewy!' I had to eat approximately 2,000 cookies over three days, and being that I was overweight as a child, I was very happy."

The writer of a blog called "Jane's Calamity" writes that she was in this ad, as was Jenna Von Oy, who would go on to play Blossom's best friend Six on the TV show "Blossom," among other roles.

Actress Jennifer Connelly auditioned for this when she was 11, but when it came to singing the jingle, she "devolved into laughter and sweat and crumpled on the floor and couldn't do it and had to leave," according to a 2003 article from BackStage[dot]com.

The jingle is sung to the tune of "Love and Marriage," written by Sammy Cahn and Jimmy Van Heusen and a hit record by Frank Sinatra in 1955.

Sammy Cahn was an American lyricist (1913-1993) who co-wrote many popular songs of the mid-20th century. Try searching the Web or your local library for more on him and his work.

I popped on to youtube just to see if someone had a commercial up with this jingle. The one I remember better was "It's raining chocolate chips!" and the kids had umbrellas. It used the same "Crispy, Chewy" jingle. It was nice to see this one, though.
