Great job!! I am pregnant with twins as a gestational surrogate mother, so although I will not be breastfeeding these little babes, we wanted to breastfeed for the first day or two just to bring in my milk and then I can pump for them. I nursed my son for 18 months and you are doing so great with twins. This video was very informative. Thanks.
Hi, this is a fantastic resource. I also tandem fed until 3 months but am now feeding individually at 10 months. I hope it's ok for me to link this to a few facebook groups I am involved in, you have done a great job of this :-) Your kids are just beautiful. All the best!
Great video. Wished I had seen it when I was pregnant with mine and I was so scared about feeding them. Mind you I made it to 10.5 months. Was never happier than tandem feeding them :-). Thank goodness for ezy pillows. I'm sure you will inspire people so well done.
I am tandem nursing my 10 weeks old twins boys using your advice. At first, I'm so afraid to do so, but after watching your video, it encourage me that we could do it too.
I've been tandem nursing for 3 weeks now and love it so much.
But the only problem I found now is the boys are getting heavy (almost 10lbs each) to lift onto the nursing pillow, is there a trick to lift them up without sore arms? I'm a very petite woman (5ft3 95lbs).
@kk52736 Congratulations on your twins, and on breastfeeding them!! As long as I tandem fed them, I think I pretty much picked them up as you see in this video. I found that every time they had a growth spurt, I'd feel like we would soon have to change our habits (how I picked them up, carrying both at the same time, etc), but I think my just strength grew as they did! I am sorry if that's not very much help -- good luck, I know you'll figure out what's best for you all!
thanks so much for posting its really helpful im 31 weeks pregnant with twins and i was really wondering how the heck to breastfeed them this really gives hope!
I'm 24 weeks pregnant with my twins (boy and girl). The logistics of feeding them, especially at night, is the thing I am MOST uncertain/worried/scared about! (Admittedly, this is partly because I had tremendous difficulty nursing my daughter and we ended up mostly bottle-feeding her. I'm not against bottle-feeding...she is a strong and healthy and happy little girl... but if I CAN nurse, that would be ideal.) This video was extremely helpful and gives me encouragement. Thank you so much!
I'm pregnant with twins..I'm 12 weeks along. I was wondering what kind of couch or bed you are using in the video..as it looks deep and perfect for what you are doing. Thanks for any help!
@BubblesnVeggies Congratulations on your pregnancy! Twins are wonderful! The couch is just a big sectional with an ottoman. I found that I really liked having my feet up while I nursed. I only used this one for a couple of months, and then we moved, and I used a normal sofa with a footstool. For the first eight months or so, my "nursing station" was set up on the couch all the time!
@MsDiaperD Thank you so much for this feedback! It means so much to me to know that I helped even one other twin mom. Congratulations on your twins, and on nursing them!!
I LOVE this video! I actually tandem nursed my older two children (not twins) but we found out we are having twins in the Spring of next year! This video has been so helpful I'm bookmarking it as we speak! Thanks so much! : )
Thank u so much! I am going to b new mom & we r 12 weeks pregnant with twins. I so want to b able to breastfeed them & your video showed me it was possible! Thank u!
OMG! I am pregnant w/ twins and i really want to breast feed, but kind of freaked out about how to do tandem feedings! Thank u for doing this, very helpful!
I did the same thing with my twins and I nursed them for 13 months. My daughter did nurse a couple months longer than my son did. They are now about to turn 19 years old! Good job!
@ChayaLeahV Thank you! They were pretty chilled-out babies for the most part (at least that's what I remember now -- this video is two years old!), and we did scheduled feeds, so they were rarely screaming to be fed.
Great video! I wish your video existed six years ago, when I had my twins. I only made it to 6 weeks breastfeeding : ( Congratulations on the great job you are doing mamma!
@jenjoe18 I used the EZ-2-Nurse pillow, which is available from several different sources. You could also try Craigslist or your local twins club to see if anyone is selling one secondhand.
@jenjoe18 You should contact your local La Leche League chapter (you can find them online) or else locate a certified lactation consultant to get specific breastfeeding advice. LLL leaders are a great resource!
Thanks so much for the demonstration, because breastfeeding was a mysterious concern for me. I am having twins March 2012, so this was great for mental and material preparation! Thanks again!
We have just found out we are pregnant with identicals, and I am dearly hoping to be able to breastfeed them. Your video has definately shown me it can be done and given me the confidnce boost I needed to give it a go! Thankyou for a great video =)
what an amazing mom you are! your babies are beautiful and I commend you for doing such a good job with them breastfeeding! Thanks for posting this stellar video to encourage us moms!!!
You make it look so easy, but hey you might just be good at it anyway though your babies are beautiful :) congrats and thNks for being so open to sharing
Thanks so much for posting this-- I'm expecting twins in the fall and I'm really nervous about figuring out breastfeeding, so I've been DYING for videos like this! I'll probably watch this about fifty more times to try and memorize it :)
Thanks so much for your comments! I assigned each baby one side per day, so I would nurse Alice on the right and Andrew on the left one day, and then the next day, swap them. This seemed to be the best way to keep my supply consistent on both sides, and to be fair to the babies -- they both preferred the left!
@tw1nm0mmy Oh that method sounds like less of a hassle. Really awesome vid. I'm worried about tandem feeding in the beginning but you make persistance look super rewarding down the road. Make more...you babies are beautiful for the camera!
Your babies are adorable and so wonderful for mommy and the camera. This video is fantastically helpful...you make it look so easy. Thank you for sharing!!!
