Maybe one of them is a -rather- foreboding painting of you. He's a rather interesting, if not shady, character that comes off as a sort twisted grandfatherly figure.

It's not sarcasm. It's nervous laughter. And I begrudgingly admit it's a bit much, but this is not an easy position to play convincingly. I like how the tv series Raines approaches it. Okay it's all in the character's head. Let's bow to the absurd and see how far down the rabbit hole it takes us. The actress is still playing "I don't believe this is happening to me" but her actions say she does. It's time to say namaste to the lunacy.

ZachsMind- you are TOTALLY right! It is nervous laughter and something I have spent my life trying not to do. I once had to leave a funeral because I couldn't stop laughing...and in a moment started weeping, but before that I FELT TERRIBLE!! Clearly I DIDN'T think ANYTHING was funny....

I tried out once for an improv comedy troupe, and the worst thing you can do on stage while doing improv is pull a Harvey Korman. I cracked up during the scene and completely blanked. Needless to say I didn't get in the troupe. Practice may make perfect, but I pretty much gave up. Don't make my mistake. Keep working at it and improving. Do what feels right, even if sometimes it looks wrong. Go with your instinct. Don't listen to us. LOL We're just teh peanut gallery.
